MuseScore Composers
A fluid group designed to be available for general discussion and score posting.
We Have a Website. What do you want it to do?
Calem Bendell - Jul 8, 2012
Alright, guys.
Along with other efforts to get my ass back in gear here, a website for this group has been launched.
http://musescore.universalyellowkeys.com/
There it is.
You may notice there's something wrong with it.
Namely, it's empty.
What do you want to see there? Note that pretty much anything you desire I should be able to carry out. If I don't have the time to do it, I'm sure we have more programmers out there. So say anything you want to see!

Also, you may notice that the design of the site is simple and pretty similar to this one... it'll probably stay that way unless there's something else you guys want to see.
One thought is that we should use that website for things that we cannot do here. There is no sense in duplicating functionality.
One idea is to have a wiki type layout where members can edit text articles. Some ideas for articles may be: compositional tricks, overcoming writers block, etc For "writers block" there are essentially 3 discussions that I know of on musescore.com. We could take the content of those 3 discussions and present it in an organized manner.
There may be other things, but I think we need to do at that website the things we can't do here.
Thanks for starting this discussion and the site!
I agree that a wiki style website would be great. Not just for composition, but for music in general. Maybe some technology-savvy people could write some articles about things you can do in the program to make things look and sound better. Musicians like me could write some articles about playing musical instruments (e.g. how to maintain good sound in difficult registers, etc.). People with compositional experience could, like Barry said, write articles about things they've learned. I'd be glad to help.
I will try to have something set up befor the end of today.
There is now a handbook functionality. How well it will work, I'm unsure, but people should now be able to sign up and add content.
I added some things to the site just to see how it works. This may also help with testing.
Question: is there a way of deleting things? I posted some nonsense things just to give you things to delete (and test the deletion capability).
Thanks for coming up with the website!
I have a prominent delete button as an administrator. You do too now, Barry.
Probably best to keep it an admin thing. You should now be able to mess with it however you like. You comments and everything have been deleted.
Is that handbook function good enough for ya?
REGISTRATION FOR THE SITE IS NOW OPEN TO ANYBODY.
It would be good to compartmentalize the website. A section for music history, PDF's, MP3's Midi's, Musescore technology etc, would be great.
This is already done :), it's just that I don't have any content in them.
However... I would really like to have a few pages for Soundfonts. However, I don't have any to recommend.
Do you guys have some recommendations?
Well, I'm going to write up some pages.
Calem, I think the website would be much more accessible if it were formatted like a wiki (like Wikipedia, for example). Here's a link to a wiki formatting guide: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Formatting

Sorry for slowing down on this, guys! My computer is in for repairs. Will be back on top of the site shortly.
Due to gross negligence on my part, I'm shutting down the site.
Sorry, guys!
Don't be so hard on yourself. At least you gave it a shot. Thanks for trying to do it!!!
Hey, I have some ideas if the website is still in progress. I design a website personally, so maybe I can help you out!

And why not? This sounds like a great idea - everyone needs feedback and it's always great to read about other users/composers successes, tips and the like.
I'd like to take a look at that website - if AnnaOak is volunteering, maybe you can giver her a shot on designing the website.
Be happy to!
