Dedicated to the Odle Middle School 2011-2012 Academy Band
This song depicts an adventure of two teen lovers (NOT ANYMORE XD), who set off to discover the boundless rewards of their future. They adventure and discover new things, while facing many challenges along the way. Along the way, the two develop a deeper love for each other and form an unbreakable bond. But then, things get tougher. Both lovers are torn from each other, and thrown into two different worlds. They long for each other, but still wonder if it might be better in separation. The two finally decide to go their separate ways, but always remember the other, and the influence on their lives. They were up against the world.

Ohmygawd I went to Odle for math in the mornings in fourth grade before I switched schools. Wow, I could've actually known you... Maybe I did and I just don't remember.

I love this piece! May i have your permission to use this for our ensemble that I have planned for our UIL....Please

This is a great piece! Would you mind if I showed this to my director? I'll give credit where needed. He would love this!

pongpakt's picture

Another one?
Sounds livelier than the first. I like the additional maraca @ 25. I also like the part @ 139. The Alto part is better in this one. You HAVE TO convince Mr. Kim to let us play this for one of our concerts.
PS: For all of you out there I was in Carlos' band and played the 1st alto part, it was a vary long song, one of the longest ones I've played.

Fluteplayer's picture

Wait Pongpak don't you have another account?

pongpakt's picture

Yes But I forgot the password

insaneintherain's picture

It isn't supposed to be a maraca... silly Musescore playback.

pongpakt's picture

What is it supposed to be?

insaneintherain's picture

Sleigh bells
LOL ZIV

fitz44's picture

do you play an instrument and if you do what instrument?

pongpakt's picture

His primary instrument is Bari sax but he also plays Tenor sax and Piano

fitz44's picture

cool i play percussion

fitz44's picture

awesome i memorized the xylophone timpani and the snare drum parts. Do you have any good advice for song writing.

insaneintherain's picture

Still love the trombone solo at 65. Though I wouldn’t expect all middle school players to be able to get that high (well I could, but some of them can’t).

insaneintherain's picture

Yeah, two of my great friends are excellent trombone players and they can hit that note no problem.

AshBoy'sSis's picture

This is great!!! I feel like I should say more, but.... thats all. Amazing.

insaneintherain's picture

Thanks! Amazingly amazing amazingness!

JeremyTheViolinist's picture

I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this. Great job! :D

insaneintherain's picture

A THOROUGH thanks!

samrocks22's picture

I wonder what this would sound like if it was orchestrated......

insaneintherain's picture

Interesting idea. I wrote it for band, though. I would have written it completely differently for a symphony orchestra!

samrocks22's picture

Haha or even a jazz arrangement!!!!! ;)

insaneintherain's picture

No. Just no.

OutCast42's picture

Really nice song, though I can't say it's better than the original. I agree with iHasCheese and that the tenor solo was probably (in my opinion) the best part of the other song. Still, this is amazing!

insaneintherain's picture

Hm. It depends on the opinion of the people...
I might put it back in.

Fluteplayer's picture

I liked the tenor part.

insaneintherain's picture

KELSIIII WHY

Amythistfire's picture

Page 26 the grandioso is off the page.
Awesome. I liked the counter melodies. Some parts were better in the original however.

insaneintherain's picture

Yeah, I need to fix that ^^
What parts, namely? I like this edition a LOT better.

Amythistfire's picture

Measures:
46 i liked the other melody better
76 i dont like the pause
102 the higher melody was better
174 too slow
I only got that far, however

iHasCheese's picture

I have to say, I really did like that part with the tenor sax solo in version 1. It was very purdy. Also, if there's one thing I HATE having in music, it's humming or singing. =P Many reasons for that. Namely, it's way harder for instrumentally trained musicians to sing well together than to play well together. For the most part they probably haven't had formal training.

insaneintherain's picture

I know that about the tenor sax solo. Truth be told, I only wrote it for my girlfriend at the time (not anymore, hence the description), so I took it out. I didn't know that else to fill the space with besides singing. Hm. I might just put that back in... decisions decisions!

Fantastic! A master piece! If I were you, I'd take this and enter it in a competition so you can have it heard being played by a full orchestra.^^

insaneintherain's picture

I've actually already had the older version played by another group found here: http://musescore.com/node/54371

cjbrandt's picture

Mr. intherain, another beauty. I love it!

insaneintherain's picture

Thanks! And again, call me Insane.

samrocks22's picture

At 3:20, I have a suggestion. Maybe you should take the 1st trumpet part an octave higher. Just for that 1 section.

insaneintherain's picture

That would probably be too big of a range jump, but I'll include it as optional eventually! :)

samrocks22's picture

I actually think it might sound nice. Oh and alto sax glissando at the ending? That was very creative of you.

mssmSIE's picture

The Octave would sound nice, however, as a trumpet player, until you've really got good chops, there would be very little chance of those notes coming out well, in addition to the rest of the piece.

insaneintherain's picture

True. This is a very intensive brass piece!

Spuddboy2's picture

How were you able to putthe measure numbers directly beneath each measure??

insaneintherain's picture

That is a secret to the trade that will not be disclosed! Actually, I've said it before, but it's a long explaination that you'll find in this discussion: http://musescore.com/insaneintherain/scores/50545
(see samrocks22's comment)

samrocks22's picture

Haha. It is a VERY long explanation, but it works!! Thanks insaneintherain!!

iHasCheese's picture

So, maybe it's just my imagination, but there are some parts in this that I promise fit PERFECTLY with Super Mario Galaxy. . . =P

But no, really, I love this song. You should totally find a way to make a professional-sounding recording (DAWs, etc.) and put it on iTunes or make it an mp3 or something.

insaneintherain's picture

It's not just your imagination. Most of Super Mario Galaxy is in Eb major, which is what this song is. And considering whenever I go to my cousin's house (every 2/3 weeks) I play Super Mario Galaxy for at least 3 hours just to pass time, then I'm sure that's influenced this a bit.

Hmm... I'll see what I can do about the DAW thing. Most DAW setups are for orchestras, but I'll send a few PM's about concert band. I'd probably put it as a videoscore, then maybe make an album once I have enough songs? I'm currently working on an another song at the moment, which should be done in 3/4 weeks, depending on my effort level.
