Inspired by a local performance of the Kontra-Kor, a duo comprised of Dr. Cindy Behmer, oboe, English horn (http://www.cindybehmer.com/), and Jessica Campbell, bassoon and contra-bassoon (http://www.tucsonsymphony.org/about-the-tso/orchestra/546?task=view), I developed this arrangement of the Sonate 1 by G.F. Händel.
Among some of the favorite, but rarely heard instruments of the modern orchestra to play alone, these instruments have not been previously paired in duos. Behmer and Campbell have commissioned work written especially for them, and this is an attempt to increase their repitoire with additional pieces rich in tactile harmony, providing tempo variations and timbre depth.
I reconstructed the Sonate in unconventional form in 4 short movements (Adagio, Allegro, Larghetto & Vivace). This piece is best played using the "Orchestral Winds" Soundfont from SoundFont Downloads at (http://www.soundfontdownloads.com).

Although not supported in MuseScore playback, I incorporated pitch-bending markings using portamento (glissando).
Please click on the "VideoScore" link to the right to hear an accurate sound representation of the piece (or go to: http://soundcloud.com/magataganm/variations-on-a-sonate-from-g). MuseScore currently does not replicate the Oboe or Contrabassoon soundfont correctly on the online site.
