This is my first full orchestral piece. It just kinda came to me one morning. Then again...I guess that is where I get all my original pieces =P I hope you guys like it!

Comments, suggestions, ideas, etc are all welcome =)

----------------------------------------

Hoo! This piece seems so...ancient. I'd pretty much given up on it. But thanks to MegaMettaurs3001, I've been inspired to finish this piece. All that has changed so far is that I have added a 6 measure riff...but it's progress =)

Comments, Ideas, Suggestions, etc. are ALL WELCOME =)

How did you get the seashore in it?

AshBoy's picture

Its amazing how much this question comes up... =P

What you do is change the instrument voice in the mixer (which is pulled up by clicking 'Mixer' under 'Display') to 'Seashore'. Then whatever instrument you changed sounds like a seashore =D

Wow! Totally amazing! Please continue writing this! Where do you get your original pieces? Was there some inspiration for this? Because it sounds very professional and slightly familiar, like movie music.

hms_victory's picture

Thanks for joining! I saw that you're from Wisconsin! I am too.

MusicLover421's picture

This is really good! It really does sound like the sea especially with seashore thing going WOOOOOOOSH throughout the whole piece :P.

Amythistfire's picture

Next part needs to be chase music. They are being perused. I'll leave the rest up to you.

AshBoy'sSis's picture

This makes me sway back and forth :P and completely reminds me of pirates and ships and pirate ships and stuff... :D It's really good, and I have and idea. Everything that you have now sounds kinda happy and sunny, but the title is A Day on the Raging Sea, so maybe you can go into a part that sounds like a storm hit and make it kinda more intense and scary. I don't know, something like that. Anyways, I don't want to sound critical or anything because this is AMAZING so far!!!!!!

AshBoy'sSis's picture

Ok, well maybe not happy and sunny, but it kinda reminds me of a ship dock and all the shops and stuff and sailors walking around and lots of talking and things going on in a busy port on a mildly sunny day. Also, pirates. :) Good job!!!

Rocketman44's picture

This screams FINISH ME!!!
Reminds me of Pirates of the Caribbean.

MaeThePirate's picture

FINISH THIS NAO! This is to amazing to be left unfinished

TheNewKid's picture

I've been trying to finish this for the better part of 6 months...I just can't figure out what comes next ='{

MaeThePirate's picture

..you still trying to decide what to do next? Cause that was stellar. Just reminding you...

randomuniq's picture

Oh my, you're amazing! I'll be hearing this whenever I go on a boat =D

TheNewKid:

I'm writing an arrangement that includes all of the best songs on MuseScore. I really love this. Can I please put it on there (I'll give you credit)?

TheNewKid's picture

Sure =)

Man I wish I could finish this...

Mega's picture

Thanks!

TheNewKid's picture

Hmm...I'm not really liking the voices for strings. They seem kinda messy and out of balance. I'm gonna change that eventually.

DANNNNNNNG!! That was awesome man! :D *follows*

MegaMettaurs3003's picture

Wow! I feel honored! This is one of your songs that I've always loved. Keep up the good work!

Flyingninja77's picture

BTW, how do you make a suggestion where a song/piece should go? That largely seems like the job of the scorewriter, so "suggestions" really means something like "criticism," in my opinion.

Now, for the "suggestions,"
. . . .
. . . .
[Flyingninja77 bores readers to sleep. Zzzz....]

Happy trails, Flyingninja77

[Readers wake up.] Reader: "Huh?"
Flyingninja: "Never mind."

Sorry about that. I'm entertaining myself, as you can see. But I'm probably better off doing that at "The Achives" (http://musescore.com/groups/flyingninja77s-song-archives). Thanks for your time, everyone. I'm outta here!

Flyingninja77's picture

Wow! Congrats on bringing this song up from the pit of despair. Was this because you promised MegaMettaurs on "Over the Tide" (http://musescore.com/user/25142/scores/46698) that you would keep it up? Sounds great!

TheNewKid's picture

Well...pretty much yep. =)

This is cool. How'd you get all the special effects? P.S. It sounds exactly like a day on the sea.

TheNewKid's picture

Well, if you mean the seashore instrument as special effects, then all I did was add a staff, and change the voice in the mixer to seashore

Thank you

Nicola Black's picture

This is so cool!! It actually sounded like spending a day on a ship or near water. In my case I would hope it would be near water since I get seasick. :p And I'm prejudiced, but I definitely think you need to draw the flutes out more and/or give them some cool effect. But really it's very awesome, and I can't wait to hear how the rest sounds!! I promise to be patient cuz I know forcing is terrible. :)

music fan jazz1's picture

Cool! I like it. You can do a lot of cool things with this song. Keep it up.

AshBoy.'s picture

AWESOME update. I love the use of the full band for the melody. That transition at the end SERIOUSLY reminded me of one of your transitions in Odyssey. Is this next movement gonna be themed around more turmoil and darkness than the first? I'm excited to hear it

TheNewKid's picture

Well...my guess is that the transition is going to go. It doesn't quite fit the energetic, adventurous feel that I'm looking for. If I do put in a contrasting movement, I have NOOO idea what it will be like. Just gotta wait and see :P

insaneintherain's picture

I suggest you do have some contrasting movement. That's what spices music up. Maybe have the original melody, but slower in a different key. Or have a completely new melody but layer the original melody over it. It's kind of what I did in one of my original compositions:http://musescore.com/user/4669/scores/35546

iHasCheese's picture

I'm curious. Where did you find the "Seashore" instrument? I don't recall having seen it in the instrument list.

TheNewKid's picture

Seashore does not appear in the instrument list. In order to create the seashore instrument, one needs to select any tuned instrument, and switch its voice in the mixer to "Seashore."

music fan jazz1's picture

Nice! It does feels like you are on a ship!

BlackTecno's picture

Sounds like something you would hear in The Legend of Zelda!
