I like it, but I'm a bit biased; my marching show last year was called Aurora Borealis. :) It's beautiful. <3
Heh. Thanks! I'm currently working on a new song which will hopefully put this one to shame. Stay tuned! :)
Also, if you weren't aware, there's a video score on the right side of this page that has muuuuch better sound quality. Make sure to listen to it if you haven't already.
My mind has been offically blown! that was amazing :O
Thanks! I hope you made sure to listen to the videoscore on the right. It has much better sound quality. Glad you liked it! By the way, my name is Caleb, too. =)
Wow ! My brain has just fly to the sun a melted thats how cool it was :)
Hehe. Thanks!
Amazing job Cheese! :D I love your clarinet parts, I love it when they play at that range (in the beginning, it's so perty o:). Of course, great oboe parts, amazing with a dollop of awesome. :D
Thanks! Of course I spent extra time on the woodwind parts, since they're what I play. Of course, there's still plenty of room for improvement here. As for the clarinet part at the beginning, that's a good range for rich, thick harmonies. It'd of course sound better if played on real instruments, but. . . that's already understood. And of course, a piece wouldn't be mine without a good oboe solo. =D
Impressive, fantastic, wonderful, fabulous, marvelous, brilliant, super, great, lovely, amazing....running out of adjectives here :)
Hehe. Thanks!
Hi, beautiful music! Please forgive me my gaps in education but I don't understand that different instruments in your score has different key signatures. How they manage to sound consistently in this case. How you decided that first group should play in F-dur, the second in G-dur and so on ?
Hi, Aronzhin! Glad you enjoyed it! I hope you watched the videoscore, for it has a far better sound quality. The reason for the different key signatures is that instruments are not always built in the same key.
I'm not completely sure how to explain it, but here's an example. A flute plays a B flat. A clarinet plays a C. It sounds the same, because the clarinet is build in B flat. Of course, not all clarinets are in B flat, but the majority are. Now let's say the flute plays an F and the French horn plays a C. They would be the same note, because the French horn is built in F. Now, I don't play the French horn, but I know that it's somewhat more complicated, because it can switch between B flat and F. . . Maybe someone could explain it better than I can?
Thank you for the answer. As you recommend the video, can you please tip how you manged to increase sound quality of the piece? Have you used the MuseScore to produce the sound for the video ?
Sure. Yes, this was all done with MuseScore. You might want to read about soundfonts. They're the files that contain instrument samples. For this song, I used the merlin_gold soundfont, which has several great sounds and comes with a reverse cymbal (which I used for the suspended cymbal rolls) and a timpani roll. It's free and it's great quality. Unfortunately a few instruments (like the saxophones and trumpets) are not as great as I'd like, but they're fine for getting a general idea.
DUDE... That. Was. Epic. The music matched the description perfectly!!!! Thats something I never really could do :) Awesome work!!!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! Also, I'd have to disagree with that last point. You paint pictures just fine! =)
Really nice piece, and it matches the scenery perfectly.
Thank you! Glad you liked it. =)
Amazing. Just amazing
Mae, is that a tomato in your profile pic???? (ha, I'm not derailing the topic at all...)
Wait... To-MAE-To!
Yes. I am, in fact, a potato.
Aha! I knew it all along...
Well, thanks! Glad you liked it.
In this bar, did you just add a slur to indicate the hang?
Yes. In percussion music (namely tubular bells, suspended cymbal roll, triangle, etc.) it is traditional to use a slur after a note to indicate that it should ring out after the note has ended. If it should be choked, it should be left without a slur or you can notate a "Ch." above it. However, you probably shouldn't do that, as it might be interpreted that you want to switch to chimes or something. Anyway. Does that clear things up?
Although I don't know what you mean by "in this bar." I did that in multiple bars. Did you mean something specifically in that bar that I didn't notice?
iHasCheese:
I'm writing an arrangement that includes all of the best songs on MuseScore. I really love this. Can I please put it ont there (I'll give you credit)?
Well, sure! I'm glad you consider this one of the best here. Thanks! =)
Fantastic music! Very impressive in many ways ... I like the orchestration, the melody, the percussion (that creates a strong ethnic feel as well as a celebration mood), the proportion of the different sections, and the punctuation at the end of the major sections. Congratulation for creating such a beautiful composition!!
Thanks! I certainly value your musical expertise, so I'm glad you like it!
I HAS CHEESE TOO!!!!!!
I don't know what that means. :P But this song is awesome!
Dude, I'm serious: Never take this song off MuseScore. It should seriously stay on here forever!
Heh! Thanks! I'll try to keep it on here! Though, I dunno . . . I might want to sell it someday. *Shrugs.* Not anytime soon, though. Anyway, glad you like it!
Wow, you are successful, it reminds me deeply of Aurora Borealis. It just matches the colors perfectly.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it!
Really beautiful. I am new to the team musescore.

The sound of Music
Thanks for the compliment! I am glad you like it. (If you didn't view the videoscore, please do so—its audio is of a much better quality than musescore.com's.) I really like the piece you've updated! I hope you plan to add to it and make it longer. I actually did get the mental image of a taxi. Great work!
Also, I love your username. I don't know if it's what you based it on, but The Sound of Music is one of my favorite musicals.
$#@%^$#@&^#@&$#!$.......
Beautiful...... You have such amazing melodies. I was reminded of the theme in Super Mario Galaxy, all the grandeur.... and yet, you were able to put astonishingly pretty parts in there as well. The song that I wrote representing an Aurora feels so much wimpier now... lol.
But wait, you wrote this in a DAY?!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm scared to see what you can do in a week......
Awesome composition!! Are you going to attempt to get this performed?
i would like to see what he can do with an idea in a year
then he can say hello to trillions of dollars at once
^^^^LOL^^^^
yup.
If he does he should share 1/10 0f it with me... :P
Thanks! I'm glad you like it! I hope you watched the videoscore instead of just listening to the musescore.com one—the videoscore is MUCH better. I hadn't thought about it sounding like the Super Mario Galaxy theme, though I can see how you might say that (speaking of, I love that theme). I disagree that your "Aurora" is wimpy. I liked it. Yes, I did write this in one day (I was surprised, too; I sat down with a theme in my head—the grandioso, syncopated part right after the lyrical beginning—and ideas just kept popping into my head). There's still lots of room for improvement, and I plan to do a little more with it (I'll have to change the videoscore, too, so it'll take a fair bit of work). I would LOVE to have this performed. I would talk to my director about it, but he's very picky when it comes to what we play (I'd love to play the oboe solo, though). Insaneintherain suggested I sell it to a publishing company or something, and I did consider that. Not sure that I'd get very much money for it . . . I might sell it after I edit it and add to it. I actually have another idea in my head, but I'm concerned that it might sound too much like this one, so I'll probably just add it into this song. It would make it a bit longer and maybe more interesting. I was very excited about the outcome of this, and I look forward to doing some more (hopefully I'll have another musically productive day soon).
Wow, that was cool.
I would let you into the PRO's group, except I'm still not sure why I'm admin in the first place....
This is just too cool.
I'll look at your other scores, and then I make my choice.
EDIT: Your in. Congrats!
Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
Sounds Amazing!
Thanks! Glad you like it!
THE VIDEOSCORE MAKES THIS ARRANGEMENT 5,000,000 TIMES BETTER
thanks for the idea of the merlin_gold soundfont im going to go get it and use it!
Heh! Thanks! I love merlin_gold. Like I said, the saxophones, trumpet, and solo violin don't sound great, but I think the other sounds make up for it. And it can kind of be lessened if you mess with the reverb and chorus in the mixer.
Where do you get these at and how do you use them?
