I like it... so much that I think it needs more! :-) Seriously, I'd develop the section at 58 more and it feels like you could do one more repetition of 72-73, maybe play a bit with your inversion in the final bar to get a slightly more "final" feeling. I'd also add a drum kit (brushes, 1-3-4 accent with 8ths) starting at 5 and again at 46.
Sounds good though!
thanks a lot for the input! I'll definitely work on making it longer! Im not sure about the drum kit, as I am trying to stay with the concert band feel, but I really love the other input!
It sounds very good, but I do have one small problem with it . . . The ranges (don't feel like I'm hating on you, though. A lot of people have problems making sure every singly instrument is in its most playable range). It seems to me like the oboe and clarinet parts should be swapped. The oboe can't play that high. The clarinet can. In the beginning to about 16, the oboe part needs to be brought down an octave. If you want to make sure that octave is heard well, bring the clarinet up an octave (the clarinet has a VERY wide range).
On page six (measures 21-24), the trombone part needs to be brought up at least one octave. The euphonium should rarely play higher than the trombone. Trombone is a tenor voice, whilst euphonium is more of a baritone voice (hence its namesake, the baritone).
I hope none of this seemed like I was being harsh—I'm just trying to help. Cheers!
thank you so much for the input! the instruments you listed are some of the only instruments I have not played in a concert band, so I have little to no idea their ranges or what roles they play. I'll get right on fixing that, thanks a lot! :)
This is pretty good! Keep up the good work! :)
thank you! :)
