Composed by Sergei Prokofiev, for the ballet Romeo and Juliet
This is commonly known in the UK as 'The Apprentice' theme. I also played this in my concert band last July, so I decided to arrange the piano version.
I had a bit of trouble with the last bar, please let me know if there are any problems!

Prokofiev is charged with awesomeness! Brilliant piece, though the arrangment is somewhat unplayable.
Definately one of my favourites my Prokofiev, thankyou very much for posting this and it is quite a good arrangement.
Thanks for Posting this amazing piece .
You're welcome, it is amazing :)
This piece has officially hit 2000 views!! Thank you!!
Well done! That's more than I've ever got. Bravo.
NICE.PRETTY SONG.
Great arrangement! :) I´ve played this in it´s original orchestra version a couple of times, and I absolutely love it! However, put the the tempo down just a few notch, then it will have the more maestoso feeling I think this music displays! :)
Hey, thanks! I did put it at the tempo we played in wind band, but that may have been the brass making everything seem slower. I MEAN NOTHING BAD AGAINST BRASS, I LOVE BRASS!!
Paul Barton on Youtube links to the generally accepted piano arrangement here: http://gallery.me.com/imagethai/100804
You can watch him play it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ct9S29SxN4w
I love Sergei Prokofiev! I played his song "Romance and Troika" for Bass Clarinet for my school's solo ensemble. Anyways, this was really fun to listen to! Great job :D
And a few other chords too.
Your arrangement is great! However there is a chord in bar 24 that is too big for human hands. Apart from that, loved it all the way through!
Thanks for the feedback! Please excuse my mistake, I arrange for the piano but I don't play the piano at all so I wouldn't have a clue!
It's strange how fast the opening bars seem when one isn't listening to a lumbering brass instrument XD
It's nice but I would prefer alot more power at bar 29; when I imagine it in my head I hear it as fffff! You may want to find a video of Kissin playing this on youtube, it may help with adding more drama to the piece, if you feel like really fine tuning everything.
The sad thign is, in the actual ballet, all the dancers are doing is a rather boring, monotonous dance. I always thought that this piece would be better placed as the brawl between the two families at the start of the story!
Thanks for the comment, and yes it's different when there are no brass!
Sorry, but I completely forgot about dynamics when I was doing the piece. I don't think I was paying attention half the time I was doing it!
And I agree with you on the ballet, I always thought it was a large fight like the start of the play, but sadly it isn't.
