I loved it, being a die-hard A7X fan :D ... But I did see a few melodic flaws, and some notes were wrong/flat. This made my day, and I'd love to see more.
I must say, I love what you've done with this piece. However, it desperately needs more harmony and dynamics. Perhaps adding a Base Clarinet part? And differentiate with note lengths, add some staccatos and legatos; make the piece more audience grabbing. Finally, a good trumpet player will destroy that part, maybe add a First trumpet part and bring the octaves up some? As a trumpet player, I (of course) love high brass parts, but make sure you strengthen the low brass (maybe strengthen the baritone part?) to accompany the high brass.
All in all, amazing work! I would love to play this piece with my band.
thank you and i'll take those changes into account :) just didn't wanna make the octave of the trumpet too high lol and a bass part could actually do a lot of good for it
As an alto sax player, I can tell you that that's not gonna happen. Try dropping it down an octave. Also, there are numerous rhythm and note discrepancies throughout the piece, nothing major, but noticable. For the most part, it's pretty solid though. Would be interesting to see as a marching band piece.
I agree. I'm an Alto Sax player and the high octave can be a little frustrating sometimes. Lowering it down an octave will help a lot. Other than that I'd love presenting this to my band. =)
