The Castle in the Sky — An Ultimate Ghibli Medley

Uploaded on Jan 20, 2015

Turn up the volume, (and the bass,) and brace yourself for Joe Hisaishi's OST from the Studio Ghibli masterpiece "Castle in the Sky." I have been working on this transcription on and off since last September, so please give it a chance and listen all the way through. If the nostalgia is too much for you, I suggest pausing, wiping your tears, and taking a short break before returning to the music. And seriously, if you haven't seen this movie...Muska will find you; he's not such a nice guy.
Here is the original audio I transcribed this from:

Miyazaki Studio Ghibli Anime Castle in the Sky Joe Hisaishi

That's fantastic! Please keep me in the loop if this works out.
incredible, this is an awesome work you did !!!!
You are my favorite person right now
I wish I could favorite this 20 billion times xD Nice work
this is probably my favorite score on this website <3
This arrangement gave me goosebumps.
Man, awesome transcription!
Since I couldn't find any decent band arrangements of this, I decided to write my own.
Credits to you :)
I love this so much. Your SOOOO talented. I wish i could be like you. I can't believe how many times ive listened to this already.
The beginning sounded exactly like the actual audio. SO well done. Also, the horns sounded incredibly accurate even though they aren't real instruments. Excellent job. It sounds amazing.
You did an absolutely great job transcribing this. If I ever join another orchestra I'll suggest that we use this!
Please let me know if you get the chance to perform it.
My friend named Jake also plays the clarinet and is on Musescore. He wrote a song called The Ruins of Avalon ( that was probably inspired by your the Gates of Avalon) you can find here:https://musescore.com/user/8004181/scores/2152226
there some pictures int he PDF file, could you delete them ? many thanks
If you want a custom PDF with the images removed, you could just download the mscz and re-export it yourself in about five minuets. If you want me to do this for you, just PM me (shoot me an email). If you plan to use the music for anything, I'd like the details and I'd like to know that the transcription will be attributed to me. All bests!
dear could we continue with gregory.orlarey(at)gmail.com ? thanks
Hello Benjamin, Thank you for writing a beautiful arrangement. My orchestra played your piece. Here is the recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDe9mJqOOUk
Wow! Thank you so much for doing this and linking it; this means a lot to me. I'm glad you were able to use my transcription, and the performance was very nice—the video screen was a great touch. Good luck with your orchestra's further work!
No clarinet? I cri, but this sounds amazing.
As a clarinet player, I know the struggle. But this is a transcription, not an arrangement, and there was no clarinet in the audio.
Haha I understand, I wish clarinets' were used more often. We could do so many cool things if we had the melody!!
You guys making all these amazing Castle in the Sky make me want to watch it again and just pay attention to the music(I get selective hearing during movies an hear mostly just the dialogue) >-<
Listening through the movies again I really notice the music on different level now. You can never go wrong re-watching Miyazaki...
Nice work, I like it. It played with my emotions a little haha
I love this movie to death and I just realized where you got this from at the very end where there's a piece of Pazu's trumpet solo. This is amazing I can't believe someone actually did all this. I love all of Hayao Miyazaki's movies but this was the first I watched. AMAZING JOB!!! You deserve at the very neat a pat on the back. And a Grammy would be good too ;). Thank you SO much for making this.
Thanks! Keep in mind I didn't arrange or write any of it...this was a straight transcription from a recording.
Now you have to do Tonari no Totoro :D

This piece is amazing, and the transcription merits the amazingness of the piece. Great job!
great job! The movie was good and this is super saddening
yuo have got a beautiful song.
This almost made me want to cry it was so beautiful; and I haven't even seen the movie :') I would really hate to see what would happen if I had seen it ;) Great job, again!
These movies are incredible
U must see all of them, they are all scored by the same guy and the movie is even better than the music
wow, amazing.
you are shure that in the end the Cbs, Vlcs, Vlas, Vlns and the anather instruments deosnt need to do creashendo?
thanks! =)
You are right, the strings do crescendo towards the end. Unfortunately, musescore does not play back gradual changes over held notes, so there is no point in marking them in.
Amazing!!! If I had a band I would totally make them play this =D
Wow. I haven't seen this movie in like 5 years and I can recognize the theme, and it is great.
Well, thanks for making me wanting to go watch the movie!
Oh yeah, definitely one of my favorite Movie. I LOVE HISAISHI's movies such as Howl's Moving castle. Nice Arrangement man!
I absolutely love this movie! I learned this song on the piano and played it over and over until my family couldn't take it anymore haha :) Thanks for making this.
Thanks--it's great stuff. Spirited away is the one that really gets me...
