"How to write (better) lyrics?" - A tip

 Hi,

how do you write interesting lyrics, how do you avoid cliches, how do you find and create interesting metaphores, how do you create something beautiful, how to change lyrics into which directions, what's your rhyme-dictionary, how to avoid the perfect rhyme?

These are the subject of Pat Pattison's books. Pat is to lyrics what a mechanic is to my car :)

Just as a teaser:
* lyric is a car
* car of lyric
* lyric's car

-> what images do these create for you, and how can you use them for your lyrics?
E.g.
* lyric brings you to destination, lyrics move, lyrics entice
* / your turn :)

Best, Michael

Cello

Hi All,
I am a cellist and have been playing for over 5 years. I am looking for some fun pieces to play. I am not as far as I want to be with my playing as I've been kept back for a while now. If anyone has any suggestions that would be much appreciated. Many thanks!

Old-Fashioned Girl

Okay so, I know this isn't technically a choir thing, but I really need opinions on a song I just finished writing, because I feel like there is something weird about it, but I can't really think of what it is. Does anyone know what I should do? Please leave suggestions, I honestly don't know what to do.

Choral Piece for SATB+Piano

Hey guys, I'm a new member of this group! I wrote this piece (called "Speak to Me") for the 2019 NAfME Composition Competition. Unfortunately, it did not make it in, but my high school choir was able to perform it for our winter collage concert this past December! I'd appreciate it if you guys would check it out and give me feedback! (It's my least viewed score with only 5 views, lol). P.S. you might be able to tell that I was listening to a lot of Eric Whitacre at the time that I wrote this XD P.P.S. If you would like to know the backstory/inspiration behind this piece, feel free to let me know!
