Is anyone interested in co-writing a song?
Post your Christmas contest submissions here in the following format:
Name Surname - 18 & Under
- or -
Name Surname - Over 18
Post ONLY submissions in reply to make it easier for judge to follow. Post any related questions in the contest discussion here - https://musescore.com/groups/drum-corps-international/discuss/4836139
If you have a Drumline Battle team formed, let us know your team size and instrumentation as well as other special skills and equipment you might have e.g. electronics, mics. Someone here may select your group and write a custom show.
A few helpful items:
Do you need visuals and music, just music?
When do you anticipate starting rehearsals?
What skills can each section successfully achieve?
Sometimes inspiration strikes and you can't find time to make it happen. Or, you have an idea that you'd really love to perform. Maybe, you're just feeling stuck and need a little inspiration from others.
Use this thread to share unrealized ideas with the world. Half-baked, fully-baked or just kernels of ideas are all welcome.

Hey Everyone,
I thought it might be a fun idea to create a contest to arrange a Christmas song. It can be for drum corps, or marching band, or whatever... but the rules are simple:
1 - You must be a member of this group
2 - You must post your arrangement here
3 - You must submit before December 20, 2017
It is also important to mention that it is not necessarily the best arrangement that can win, but the most interesting or unique (not necessarily technically the best) can be chosen.
The judge for the contest will be Key Poulan!
There will also be 2 categories - 18 and Under and Over 18.
First prize winner in each category will receive the DCI 2017 Blu-Ray Deluxe Bundle (https://store.dci.org/collections/audio-video/products/dcirnv8103-2017-blu-ray-deluxe-bundle)
Second prize winners will receive 2 tickets to any DCI show (except finals).
Third prize winners will receive a DCI sweatshirt (or from the drum corps of your choice).
I have also posted a template that can be used as a starting point. You can feel free to use this basic arrangement as a starting point for your own arrangement of the same song:

Hello, my name is Alan, I am looking for a low-brass writer for my upcoming music business Superior Music Publications. If you are interested in being the Low-Brass writer, email me at Alantedder1@gmail.com
Thank You!
Thought it could be interesting to put together a current list for reference of all DCI arrangers & composers by corps and role for 2018 season. I will update this first post as we go along (and will try to invite each of them to this group :-) ).

As I look at my personal goals for 2018, one item that doesn't have a clear path forward for me is to do some battery arrangements for marching bands.
While I have a fair amount of experience teaching HS students in-person, I don't have anything on my musical resume related to arranging.
What's the best way to get in touch will smaller bands - where I'd like to begin - and have the director feel confident that I can deliver quality parts at the appropriate difficulty level for their students?
Hey everybody, I hope everybody has had a great year. I am here to show you MML Users that there is a new music publishing business coming to a computer near you.
I am the founder of Superior Music Publications, and I am here to share with you that I have a dream to make bands big and small, as good as they can be!
I am working on getting funding for the website so that the website can have it's domain and I won't have to face any legal trouble with the law.
superior-music-publications.webnode.com
I am working hard to make the website better and better and for it to be the coolest web design possible, I am asking for ideas, and/or feedback on what this website can be.
The staff for Superior Music have amazing experience and I am very lucky to have a team of people to come and help me make this dream a reality.
Last but not least,
Email the company (One of the writers will respond to the emails, I promise.) with show ideas, anything that you think that we can write and give the best music to the people that will listen to.
Thank you for your time.
In need of a writer for Battery and Pit percussion for my currently unnamed Christmas show. The first movement is pretty much complete. The first movement features Carol of the Bells and a small portion of We Wish You a Merry Christmas, as that is foreshadowing the theme of the finale. It is majorly in 3/4, with the last section being in 4/4. There is two drum breaks in the opener, one being right after the hit, and after the runs in section C. If interested, please let me know!
Hey! I just read that MuseScore is hosting an event in which people can submit arrangements for drum corps for a chance to win prizes. I just have some questions.
How long should the arrangement be?
Are all instruments supported by DCI supported for the event? (french horn, euphonium, etc)
Does the piece have to be an arrangement? Or can it be original?
Thank you!
When you write cadences for your battery, what goals do you have in mind? Do you write something extra challenging since it's not formally judged? Is it purely an exercise to hype the crowd and shake their butts? What is your approach?
I stumbled across this on YT and haven't seen such a great explanation with examples in a long time. So, I'm sharing it here:

It seems one of the most common themes in this thread are wind arrangers looking to collab with percussion arrangers. Let's get you hooked up!
Anyone looking to collaborate with other users to write battery or front ensemble parts, I suggest that you join the official Marching Percussion group and post a request in this discussion there - https://musescore.com/groups/4833679/discuss/4845310
