Since this group is rather barren, I shall repose this (useful) thread from another group

 I came across this thread about a composition exercise --->

and found it rather interesting and worth a try.

Basically...

Composition exercise by the Polish composer Karol Szymanowski(1882-1937) given to his student.

It goes as follows:
16 bars divided into 4x4 bar segments
Tonic chord at the beginning
At bars 7/8 modulate to dominant(in major) or relative major(in minor)
In bars 9/10 write a sequence
In bars 11/12 write another sequence
In bars 13/14 thematic return should occur
In bar 16 coda
And at the bottom: "best subdominant, dominant and tonic, perfect cadence."

Hi,

I would like to be able to adjust the pitch of certain notes in a MuseScore file in a way that survives the conversion to midi. So far I have been making the changes in the inspector pane, under note properties, and they haven't been making it into the midi files. I have discovered the export RPNs option in preferences, but even with that checked the pitch adjustments don't make it through. I am wondering whether there is some other way to make the adjustment within MuseScore that might be recognised as midi, or some other export option somewhere (I am using MS3). I'd be grateful for any pointers.

I'm starting to compose contemporary and need to advice on chord changes. My first song, Première Chanson Courte Pour Piano, might need some critique, as it is a bit repetitive and the ending is a bit disappointing.

So I was looking this up after physics class just for fun, and stumbled across this article which does a really good job of explaining the Fourier transform. I still am not sure I completely understand it, but there's some cool animations in the article, anyway. ;P
