[r] Legendian Comes Back to MS

in MNGA

The MNGA is thrilled to announce that the worldwide legend, @Legendian, has come back to Musescore once for all!

"I just wanna say thank you all for your support and love!" Legendian told a welcoming community this evening. "I heard about the feature for unlimited scores without PRO and it was too good to pass up... can't wait to continue my journey with you all!" [1]

He also assured the RSA that the popular group John and Jay's Challenges will be "starting back up and running fresh."

Welcome back, Legendian!

This is MNGA.

[i] Mr. Peabody, winner of RSA Contest 6

in MNGA

The MNGA staff took a moment to interview  @Mr. Peabody (https://musescore.com/user/24544561) after the RSA announced that he was the winner of RSA contest 6. The results are as follows:

Where did you get the inspiration for your piece?

I don't know if I had any real "inspiration" for my piece...there was no  catalyst that sparked the writing process. Instead, when I saw the  contest and decided to join, I just sort of decided to write a piece  that sounded cool. That was my only goal, you could say.

Can you play Tempest as it sounds on Musescore?

Can I play my piece? Well if I practiced and decided to learn it, yes I, could play it. But right now, a tempo, no preparation? No way lol

Why did you choose to write Tempest in A minor?

Interestingly enough the piece was originally in B flat minor. However, before I uploaded it I wanted to see what playing it was like.  Needless to say, while I think it still fits the piece better in terms  of sound, it was a decent amount more annoying to actually play. Thus  the piece was transposed into A minor.

By the way, what's your favorite key to play in and your favorite key to compose in?

My favorite key to play in? B major. It's the most comfortable, if you will, key to play in in my opinion - the long fingers usually play the black keys and the short ones usually play the white keys. It makes playing fast passages in B major way WAY easier than something like B  flat, the worst key to play in IMO.
My favorite key to compose  in...maybe D flat? I like D flat a lot. Also G sharp minor is nice but I seem to be the only one who thinks that haha.

You just passed 200 followers. Are you going to give us a 200-follower special?

Well, about the 200 follower special - I've been planning to upload  something for that for a long time but nothing is really ready now...I  AM working on something really big (a concerto) of which I'm probably  closing in on the half way point of the first movement. I'll hopefully upload that before the end of the year lol...maybe by then I'll have  250? Maybe even 300?

To be honest, as soon as I saw your piece, I was like, this is the winner. Did you  write tempest specifically for the contest, or did you already have some of it together before hand?

I wrote tempest specifically for the contest. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Is there anything else you'd like to say about Tempest?

Anything else I'd like to say about tempest...If any of you do decide  learn it please make sure to record it and send me a file! I'll upload  it along with the score and of course credit you!

Thanks for your time, Mr. Peabody!

[r] MS removes 5-score limit for non-pro users

in MNGA

Breaking news this morning when the Musescore staff announced that they have removed the 5-score limit that has so long imposed non-pro users from showcasing more of their work.

"For a long time, score uploads have been limited for basic accounts and  their owners were able to upload only five scores to MuseScore or pay  for a PRO subscription to remove a limit, said Musescore staff member @mandelstamdavid. "But if you had more than five  scores and your PRO ended, those additional scores got hidden." [1]

"We consider such a limit unfair," he continued. "The score catalog is the most valuable thing for MuseScore. Users shouldn't be restricted from uploading content to the site. The more scores we have, the more people can find suitable content."

Feedback was instantaneous and mostly positive. "Wow, thanks!" said @isabella82958, and @unknown-1 said, " WOW, thanks sooooooo much. I have always wanted to  post more scores and didn't think it was right to have an alt account, so now I'm happy I didn't make one... this just made my day!!!"

The MNGA gives the MS staff a big, big thank you!

[Winner Announcement!] Musecorps Composition Competition #2 - End of the Decade!

Hello, everyone!

This competition, overall, was very close! I had a really tough time picking which entry I believed deserved the win this time around. That being said, there were no bad submissions! It was really anyone’s game.

The winner of the second competition is...

Skyth21, with their arrangement of Joji’s Slow Dancing in the Dark!
https://musescore.com/skyth21/slow-dancing-in-the-dark

Once Skyth21 reaches out to me, I’ll gift them the month subscription to MuseScore Pro.

I think this competition went fairly well. The only thing that puts me off from doing another would be the overall small number of submissions. Let me know if there are any things I can do to improve these going forward!

[s][r] Musescore Tribune dies, age .0234

in MNGA

The MNGA staff regrets to inform its subscribers that Musescore's largest and most popular fake news site, the Musescore Tribune, has died at a very young age.

"Noooooooooooo," mourned a grieving @cubbybubby01, while @WarlikeMicrobe merely said, "I'm not dead. I don't know about the rest of y'all," a statement to which @UnknownAvat4r518 readily agreed. [1]

@CalebKum, one of the Tribune's admins, was completely in the dark, only answering a dim "Hello," to UnknownAvat4r518. The Tribune's founder, @captain argon, told everyone that, "I'm not as active because there are a few things that are REALLY dead in my life...  most of my free time is dead."

Will the Musescore Tribune be able to resurrect itself? Only death knows.

[s] BSG Lives on the Help Forum, Sources Confirm

in MNGA

It's common knowledge that BSG is one of the most active members on Musescore's help groups and help forums, but yesterday sources confirmed a new development: BSG actually lives on the help forum at musescore.org.

"Yup, it's true," a sheepish BSG admitted. "I was on there so often, it just made sense for me to move there and handle the new discussions as they came."

The MNGA staff would have liked to hold a longer, more in-depth interview with BSG, but he had to hurry home. There's a new discussion pending.

[r] Too Punny to be True

in MNGA

The following is a real life, rapid fire conversation between eBirder and NobleEwe in discussing whether the name of MNGA should be something regarding math.

NobleEwe:  Something doesn't seem to add up.

NobleEwe:  Are you trying to cause division between us?

NobleEwe:  Don't let how you speak subtract from your message.

NobleEwe:  For the remainder of the conversation remember what Ecclesiastes says: the fool multiplies words.

NobleEwe:  Well?  Do you Calculate something different?  It's Plane to see there is an arRay of things I could say, yet you sit in silence, without giving me a Line.

eBirder:  I refuse to addknowledge your wit.

NobleEwe:  Sorry.  There comes a Point when I can't stop Cos puns are literally my weakness... I hope it's not a Sin.

NobleEwe:  I'm literally cracking myself up with these Complex jokes... to a Degree they struck a Chord in my funny bone.

NobleEwe:  Even though I know it's a bit Odd, I'll keep bugging you, Factoring in your Irrational silence.

NobleEwe:  SOH...I'm TOAly hopeless... I can't seem to Zero in on the Root of my problem.

NobleEwe:  This makes you cringe, Dozen it?

eBirder:  To put it lightly... xD

[s] New discussion on Help group, staff responds instantly

in MNGA

When Joe123 created a new discussion on ImprovingMusescore.com, he was shocked to see staff respond to his issue seconds later.

"I was having an issue with my notifications," Joe123 told the MNGA editors. "Next thing I know, my notification bell was bursting from the all the comments." Apparently, @jilizart and @DmitriyPopov were arguing about about who got to take care Joe123's issue. "It's my turn to respond!" jilizart told DmitriyPopov. "No!" DmitriyPopov shot back. "First come, he gets to serve."

Musescore's latest staff member, @mandelstamdavid, hasn't gotten used to all the hyperactivity. According to MNGA's sources, he's still sitting back, drumming his guitar.

[i] Piano Admin Interview

in MNGA

The MNGA staff took a moment with some random violin kid who thinks he is good but isnt (https://musescore.com/violin_child) to conduct a quick interview. He has a busy schedule of jazz band rehearsals, orchestra concerts, and deleting spam and kicking members, but he was kind enough to humor us. The interview is as follows:

How did you come across the Piano group?

I came across the Piano group because it's the largest group in Musescore.

How did you become one of the admins for the biggest groups on MS?

I saw that the owner hadn't been active for months so I messaged the Musescore staff and they made me the new owner.

What do you do as an admin for Piano?

I mostly delete spam and kick members who are being annoying.

What are the best and worst moments for the Piano group?

Hmmm...  This is a hard one, the worst is when the really mean troll (LordTroll)  was active, then when he was banned from Musescore it was the best moment.

Piano will soon reach 60K members. What do you think?

I think that the more members Piano has, the more musicians it will create, like people will want to play piano when they  see all of the cool scores and stuff.

What's a random thought you're thinking right now?

I'm thinking about my solo for an orchestra concert tonight.

Thanks for your time, some random violin kid who thinks he is good but isnt.
