The craziest people I've ever known are double reeds. Like thinking about the strangest things for no reason, even though you have no interest in them. Maybe it's the back pressure getting to my skull.
Hi all, This is my first chamber piece. Though it is an early project, it is an ambitious one. Celebrating the centenary of WW1, piece seeks to pay tribute to those who have fallen of The Great War. Any feeback would me much appreciated!
To all those who play the flute, what exactly do we call ourselves? Like people who play the clarinet are clarinetists, people who play percussion are percussionists, but what are we? Flutists? Flautists? Floutisits? Flutation devices?
Hiya fellow flautists, Wondering if I could get any feedback on this Disney medley I arranged for the school flute quartet I play in. Any criticisms great appreciated xx
First off, I was wondering if anyone knew any techniques to help with having a longer playing time before taking a breath or any exercises to help with breathing too much when playing. I don't have a lot of lung opacity and I take a lot of breaths. Also, when I'm playing high notes sometimes my lips sorta buzz and I thinks it's my embouchure getting too small, but I just want some feedback on that and how to help that. Thanks!
Hi I've been playing flute for about 2 years now and I'm at the intermediate level. At a band camp I went to this summer, and got my vibrato down (with help from my director and a college student) that the guy at my solo and ensemble contest said I needed to learn....But then when the college girl who was helping me said 'oh you need to learn flutter tonging' I was like 'o wat' so now I need help.
I have this thing whilst playing my flute and after playing a long note I take a very loud breath? What should i do? (all my friends anf family say they can hear me breathe when im doing performances!
Hey, I know this is a really weird question, but does anyone else have a problem where your face and hands get tingles/ pins and needles while plying the flute??? Because that happens to me sometimes in band
I finally finished what has, up until now, been known as 'Percussion Driven Work in Progress (End of Day ________)'. It's called 'The War Continues' and at seven minutes fifty seconds, it is the third longest piece I've composed and is most definitely by far the most complex. I tried to use flutes to bring in a lighter feeling amid the darkness in certain areas. I want to say thank you to everyone who gave me feedback and advice--it REALLY helped.
I started using flutes for my battle themes about six months ago, but this is my first war theme that uses them. (war themes have more, louder percussion and brass than battle themes)
Hello everyone! I am a bass player from El Sistema in Venezuela and i would like to know if anyone have any ensemble of basses piece or pieces for my section mates and me our ensemble play a couple of times in concert and we want more repertoire. Doesn´t matter how many basses need the pieces we want extend our repertoire.
Hey! I hate asking for feedback, but as this is my first arrangement I would heavily appreciate it. Please note the lack of bass clarinet is due to my group not having one, maybe I'll make a version with the bass to have it sound better in the future.

I have written a piece for string quartet ( https://musescore.com/user/30015827/scores/5372769 ), but I have the suspicion that Bb major fits mostly for winds and strings on the other side sound slightly better in natural or # - keys. What would be your suggestion as a key for this piece, so that it is very well playable?
