Thanks to all the new members for joining our banana party. There seem to be quite a few 'banana' composers here at musescore, whether ithe music is about the fruit banana or banana fish or banana fairies or whatever or if the music is just plain banana silly. Post your music, tell your friends. I even heard that some higher up in the government was thinking of joining since they have lots of experience in being completely bananas.

YCOO - very badly needing English Horns, Violas and Double Basses!!!

Hello everyone.
You may already heard about us. We're the Young Composers' Online Orchestra ("YCOO"). Recently, we've started a new project - we're gonna play Elliot Butler's Drama for Orchestra No. 6.

In the process of preparing the parts for our members, we found out that we don't have any English Horns, Violas and Double Basses!

If you can play one (or more :P) of those instruments, please consider joining us either forever, or for the current project only. You could save a LOT of effort and hope we're all giving in our orchestra.

Which Professional Sax Should I Invest In?

The local music store here, Groth Music (Also the biggest music store in Minnesota) has three different professional tenor sax models for sale, at least that’s what shows on their website. If they have more, I’ll look into it. For now, I just want to know if there are opinions.

The options are:

Selmer Paris Professional Model 54JU Tenor Saxophone

Selmer Paris Professional Model 84 Tenor Saxophone

Yamaha YTS-82ZII Custom Z Tenor Saxophone

Btw, I’m leaning towards the Custom Z because I want one with black lacquer so I can look cool at school :P

I've No Idea What To Do

So my parents finally bought me an alto last March (I had 3 years under my belt then) and it's a student yamaha. I thought it sounded fine, and I played fairly decent with it. Marching band passed, and no problems. I got a new mouthpiece (Selmer c star) before auditioning for an all east TN honor band a few months ago in December (I made it), and I thought I sounded good still. My teacher said my sound was fine. Recently, for the past month or two, I've been noticing a subtle "buzzy" sound when I play, and at first I thought it was the reed. I changed reeds and found out that was not the case.  I showed my band director, and he said it shouldn't be a problem. I showed my teacher, too, but he said he couldn't hear it. I even gave my friend a chance to play my sax, and we both could hear it. Fast track to a few days ago; I got my sax out to start practicing, and immediately I was hit with the very noticeable buzzy sound... but much worse than before. Almost every note has the buzzy sound in it; especially middle g through middle d. I'm going to meet my teacher about it in a few days. But, would anyone know any reason for this just suddenly happening? I feel like it could be my mouthpiece, since it has tiny scratches here and there, or my alto itself, or both. Any advice would be appreciated.

What should I do next?

I am having a hard time deciding what I should do next, please help me decide.

Hi everyone!
I'm planning on auditioning for a fine arts high-school for 10th grade, and I wondering what you guys recommend for audition pieces. I need two pieces, one contemporary and one classical.
I would say I am mid-to-late intermediate, and am in Suzuki book 3 currently.

I need two solo pieces, without an accompaniment.

On a theme by Jehan Alain

Hello, i just finished my small composition for string quintet (with pizz double bass). The first part is based on an theme by Jehan Alain (on organ, taken by ear) who was a composer and organist. He died in WWII. He is one of my favourite composers. The second par is in post romantic style. The name "la lettre" refers to a secret handwritten letter that could appear in an imaginary movie :
