https://musescore.com/howard_c_/tchaikovsky_1812_overture, the title, composer, instrument names, tempos and stave texts are all written in High Tower Text, but it was changed to another font which looks really dumb. I wonder why this happened, and can this be fixed? Because some time ago Georgia had the same problem but now it seems to be fixed. I suppose many other fonts have the same problem as well...
Love the app!!
1. Once I press play, the top banner needs to disappear — it shouldn’t require action on my part
2. I want my scores first when I open the app— not recommendations for bohemian rhapsody for the nth time
3. Notifications right now show up as “undefined”
Thank you and keep it up as we give developers feedback to improve!!
A friend and I are seniors in high school and we have a band. I play alto saxophone and he plays drum set. We have played at basketball games, in school concerts, and background music at various school events. Our next (and possibly last) performance is going to be at our graduation, so obviously we want it to be our best performance yet. Our problem is we cannot seem to find a good song/songs to play. We are looking for something fast, upbeat, and fun. Somewhere between 3 to 15 minutes would be perfect. Some of the songs we have played before include: Shipping Up To Boston, Megalovania, Blue (Da Ba Dee), 300 Violin Orchestra, Harder Better Faster Stronger, Eye Of The Tiger, ect. Hopefully that gives you a good idea of the type of music we enjoy playing.
Any song suggestions would be very helpful. Also, if you have any other places I could post this question please let me know. Thanks in advance for any suggestions anyone gives.
The local music store here, Groth Music (Also the biggest music store in Minnesota) has three different professional tenor sax models for sale, at least that’s what shows on their website. If they have more, I’ll look into it. For now, I just want to know if there are opinions.
The options are:
Selmer Paris Professional Model 54JU Tenor Saxophone
Selmer Paris Professional Model 84 Tenor Saxophone
Yamaha YTS-82ZII Custom Z Tenor Saxophone
Btw, I’m leaning towards the Custom Z because I want one with black lacquer so I can look cool at school :P
This is a nice app. I use it to tune my guitar. It’s very helpful as accurate. This app also has options to tune other instruments like a violin. And for I think $10, you can get these little fun guitar chord related games, that help teach you the guitar.
Overall, great app. And I highly recommend it.
You can sign up in one of two ways!

Reply to this discussion, answering the following questions:
1. What instrument(s) do you play?
2. How did you find out about the MSOO?
3. How likely are you to recommend this group to a friend or colleague? (1-10)
So me and my friends were bored and decided to make a play about the Boxcar Children. It's supposed to be a musical, except we only have two songs and a poorly written overture (which is my fault)
If you could be so kind as to whip up a couple of songs (it doesn't matter whether it's instrumental or has lyrics, as long as it goes with the story, we'd appreciate it) We are just performing this for fun, so only our parents will see it, and we're just two families, so...yeah. You'll still receive all credit for the song.
Here's the summary if you haven't read it yet:
(Also, I can't call this off, or my sister will get a little mad and my friends will be disappointed after all they've done :P)

I know one of the biggest challenges for most new musescore users is how to add tremolo and pizzicato to strings, and mute to trumpets. I know it baffled me for a while, but I want to spread the word on how it is done in a way that it will generate actual AUDIO PLAYBACK!!!!!
(I will be using tremolo as an example, but the process is exactly the same for pizzicato and mute.)
Step 1: Click on the note where you want to start. When that note is highlited (usually in blue), click Ctrl + T (Or use the menu to do Create > Text > Staff Text).
Step 2: Type whatever you want here, although just to avoid confusion, you should write "tremolo" Or even some specific directions, like "Slow Tremolo" or "Furious Tremolo".
Step 3: Click away from the text box. Now drag it until it is in a suitable place. (The text box will often initially be created inside of some notes, so just make sure it is clearly out of the way, yet right above the notes you want to start the tremolo at, similar to if you wanted to add a tempo text box.)
Step 4: Right Click on the text box you just created, and in the dropdown box, click Staff Text Properties.
Step 5: Check the "Channel" box, and then click the Tremolo option.
Step 6: At this point, you are done, and musescore will play the tremolo sound. However, if you want your piece to be readable and playable by musicians, you should add real musical tremolo marks onto the notes, via the palette on the left. (The same one that has dynamics, lines, Accidentals, etc.) THESE MARKINGS DO NOTHING FOR THE MUSESCORE PLAYBACK, BUT ARE NECESSARY IF YOU WANT THE PIECE TO BE PLAYABLE BY MUSICIANS.
Let me know if you have any questions, and try to spread the word! I will be copying and pasting this discussion in as many groups as I can! Thank you all and please give me feedback!
(P.S. you will probably not be seeing any more compositions from me for a while. I am currently working on a LARGE orchestral suite, hopefully over an HOUR LONG. This will be in the form of a full soundtrack as a demonstration of what I can do. I have no movie to go along with, but I will via text tell the listener what is supposed to be happening. I wanted to say this to explain my soon to be absence from the sheet music list. I will keep listening, commenting, and participating in discussions, however!)
I wanted to play Kelly Clarkson's 'Underneath the Tree' with my sax ensemble for our Christmas concert coming up, but the sheet music just doesn't seem to exist out there for the arrangement I need, or anything close. My ensemble includes Alto Tenor and Bari saxes, and we have somewhere around 8 members who play whichever one we need for a part. If someone has the time to make an arrangement of this song with these parts it would be greatly appreciated and I can also send you a recording of the performance if you'd like. The arrangement would have to be at least somewhat simple, and if the solo in the middle isn't quite right, or just has space for improv that's fine. I would probably need the piece in about 2 weeks in order to actually perform it, and if someone does take up the challenge, I do apologize for the time crunch.
Hello, I have been having this problem of when listening to a song on Musescore, the red bar that highlights bars are like, off. The bar is going to the next bar before the music actually goes there. Sorry, I have horrible explanation skills. If you can fix this listening to music would be more satisfying. Thank you.
When I get a notification and I click on a specific one, it takes me to the discussion it was in. However, is it possible to not only take you to the discussion, but to the specific page it was on? This would be helpful because I've gotten tags on 10 page discussions and I don't know where they tagged me specifically. :P
So, I'm working on another piece and there is this area where via a chord progression, I modulate from G major to D major. The penultimate chord there is a 7th chord with the leading tone. Now this could mean several different chords. It could be a dominant 7th, in which case the leading tone is the chordal third. It could be diminished or half diminished, in which case, the leading tone is the chordal root. Or it could be a major 7th in which case the leading tone is the chordal seventh.
Here is the chord progression I use:
G -> Em -> Bm -> F#m -> DM7 -> D
Each pair of chords, I alternate between violins and cello and viola and piano. I write the piano chords in both hands. And I make sure that the voice leading is as smooth as possible. So here is what the cello and violins play:
G -> Em, Bm -> F#m
And here is what the viola and piano play:
Em -> Bm, DM7 -> D
Now, I only have the D in the DM7 in the right hand, but when I reach the D major chord, I have the D in both hands as well as in the viola.
Since with the DM7, I already have the major chord right there in root position, and the 7th is the only note that needs to resolve, and it does resolve up a step to D, it should sound fine. But it doesn't. And I think I know why. I'm doubling the chordal seventh in the viola and the piano. So while the viola does this:
C# -> D
which on its own, sounds great, the piano does this:
DM7 -> D
with all the notes of the seventh chord being played.
So, while I could change it to an A7 or even a C#°7, I'm thinking of keeping the DM7. But I obviously need to change something about how the 7th chord is played. The only route here I can think of is to get rid of the 7th in the piano and just have the piano play a D major chord twice while the viola plays the C# -> D motion to remind us that it is a major seventh resolving to D, not just D major.
But, is there another way that I could make this sound nicer while keeping the major seventh harmony? Here is the snippet where the Major 7th occurs:
hey! so i just composed two pieces, and i'm not looking to change anything but i wrote these for my girlfriend and i just wanna share these pieces, i know they're not the most mature sounding piano pieces but i've been trying to find my own style and as a 16 y/o it's like pretty oof but anyways, here they are:
