I encourage the musescore.com staff to respond more often to bug and feature requests in this forum so users posting know that there feedback has been received and to incentivise user participation. I really appreciate the responsiveness of the forums on musescore.org and wish for a similar level of interaction here. Thanks.
Hi! I've looked through Musescore and found that there are only a few 4 octave solo pieces for the marimba. Could anyone recommend some to me? Thanks a lot!!!
Hi! I'm a keyboard percussionist. I'd like some recommendations on 4 octave marimba duets/trios that are considered as medium/medium difficult. Thanks a lot!!! I know the amount of 4 octave duets/trios out there are very small...
I'm relatively new to this software and I'm having difficulty creating an odd tuplet ratio in one of my bars.
I'm trying to input 20 notes in the space of 7 quarter notes (20:7 relation) in a 7/4 Bar, but for some reason I keep having trouble. Please help!
Trends in the modern world are moving towards simplification, acceleration and improvement. We add people as friends to Facebook, watch photos on Instagram, tweeting.
The community of MuseScore is very special. Here there are composers, and virtuosos, and beginners, who are just beginning to comprehend the world of sheet music. Our application lacked some part that could unite their interests.
In our new release, we add functionality that will give you the opportunity to stay in trend, find like-minded people with a common musical taste, and be aware of what is happening in the world of MuseScore.
The update consists of three parts.
The first is the Feed. This displays the most recently added scores of the composers you are following.
The second is the Notifications. We did not want to cause your frustration, so we placed them separately from the scores tab.
The third part is the Profiles. Now you can look at all the scores that this user added, and find like-minded people among those who subscribe to him.
Today marks the release of MuseScore Piano Roll. Piano Roll is a popular and convenient method to display piano notation in a way that not only simplifies learning a new piece for novice musicians who lack a teacher, it also beautifully visualizes each score.

Give it a try by simply clicking on the Piano Roll icon now available on all solo piano scores. Be sure to tell us what you think in Improving MuseScore.com!
All of these improvements are designed to not only make MuseScore.com the most valuable resource online for sharing and discovering great musical works but for learning them as well.
We hope you’ll be as excited about this new feature as we were to create it for you, and as always we look forward to your feedback.
This is just the first of an exciting series of updates and releases for MuseScore PianoRoll; we're already hard at work on improving the experience!
The wait is over! The first competition is here!
That didn't take long! Thank you to everyone who has joined the group in the last 24 hours or so. :D
So, I have a couple of things to talk about, the first is announcing the competition, the second is regarding Admins and Judges etc, so I want to quickly apologise for the lengthy post.
But let's start with the fun bit!
CCC#1 - "The Watzmann" by Caspar David Friedrich.
"The Watzmann" is a painting by artist Caspar David Friedrich, made in the mid 1820s. It is a fantastic landscape painting, and although I know nothing about art, I absolutely love this painting.
This challenge was inspired by a composition task I was given at school, where we had to write a piece of music inspired by a painting. I chose a different painting by Caspar David Friedrich, which inspired me to look up some more of his art to use for this competition.
So, the challenge is fairly simple: Write a piece of music inspired by this painting, "The Watzmann". I look forward to seeing what you can come up with.
A few quick rules/details:
1) You may use any ensemble of instruments.
2) The piece must be between 1.30 and 5 minutes long.
3) The piece must be original, not an arrangement.
You will be given a mark out of 10 for your piece, along with some feedback. You have until Sunday 19th May which gives you one month to complete the piece. I will announce the winners as soon as possible after that.
Admin / Judge
So, basically, if anyone would like to be an admin and judge in the competition, please message me. Your job will be to help me mark the scores, and make sure the group runs smoothly. Obviously, you won't be able to participate in any competitions which you help judge, so sorry about that. If no-one wants to, I can do it myself, but it would make things a lot easier for me, so message if you're willing to help. Thanks!
There. I apologise again for the long post. I'd never get away with this on RSA. :/
Thanks again to everyone who helped boost this group to 30 members yesterday. :D
I look forward to seeing all of your entries to the competition. Obviously you don't have to, but if you are entering, it would be helpful if you could just let me know in the comments. Have fun!
I'm fine with whatever.
for me is dna, It's interesting to hear what your preference is!
Hello, I'm the new owner!
I'm Rebecca, and I'm this group's new owner :P
If any of you have any suggestions on how to make this group better, please let me know! :D
Here's something I see that I might change
- scrolling through the discussions, you almost only see discussions asking for feedback. Though this isn't a bad thing, it does get quite redundant when you scroll down the discussion section and all you see is "check out my score, check out my score, check out my score, etc." I figured I'd make a "feedback discussion", and anyone wanting feedback can post in there. That way, anyone wanting feedback will know where to go, and anyone wanting to critique pieces will know where to look. At the same time, the rest of the discussion will be less cluttered and allow for more conversation.
So! Please feel free to introduce yourself, and add anything that you see needs improvement in the group! :D
Have a nice day! :P
(btw this discussion will get updated as the group changes)

I realize that the messaging (PM) is simply a beta version right now, so now is a great time to suggest the enabling of each user to delete conversations with other users. This would be especially useful when conversations become outdated, unwanted, or when the other person deletes their account. When a conversation is over, one should have the ability to choose whether or not to keep it around as useless clutter, also making other conversations slightly harder to keep track of. This would be the number one improvement for me right now as a regular user.
The first contest in this group. Yayyyyy!
So, here's the description:
1. The music has to be gloomy and sad (I have STD (just kidding) )
2. 4/4 time
3. No key signature
4. Instrument: Piano
The Winner will be announced everywhere possible!
Send the file to my email: firstname.lastname@example.org
hey very talented people (obviously not me)
Hey guys, so I got an invite to join this group, so that's cool. I'm Lizante, if you didn't know that already, a random Nintendo otaku who also loves anime. I play viola and will not tolerate any viola jokes unless they're genuinely funny. That's all you need to know, hope we can be friends! ^^
I Have a production "Company" in the works we have a website and I am currently working alone on music. I would love to have some partners to assist me in my ventures! You must be active and keep in mind, there is no pay, I am just looking for some people who would like to help me publish saxophone music, and join Cashyman Productions. If you join you will be listed on the website and you will also be added as an admin. Thanks, looking forward to working with you,
Almost all of the time the playback on site doesn't work.
A friend and I are seniors in high school and we have a band. I play alto saxophone and he plays drum set. We have played at basketball games, in school concerts, and background music at various school events. Our next (and possibly last) performance is going to be at our graduation, so obviously we want it to be our best performance yet. Our problem is we cannot seem to find a good song/songs to play. We are looking for something fast, upbeat, and fun. Somewhere between 3 to 15 minutes would be perfect. Some of the songs we have played before include: Shipping Up To Boston, Megalovania, Blue (Da Ba Dee), 300 Violin Orchestra, Harder Better Faster Stronger, Eye Of The Tiger, ect. Hopefully that gives you a good idea of the type of music we enjoy playing.
Any song suggestions would be very helpful. Also, if you have any other places I could post this question please let me know. Thanks in advance for any suggestions anyone gives.
