"Jay's Challenge" just doesn't have the same ring to it.
So what are we going to do? This is the best competition group still active. It's the most active one, and the biggest, and I'm concerned it will die with only Jay to run it.
We don't want it going silent like so many great competition groups before it.
"Jay's Challenge" just doesn't have the same ring to it.
In this challenge, we'd like to see and hear proud songs that describe and reflect the area of where you live! This can be whatever you desire it to be, we won't be judging on how long or complex the song is, but rather the sound and feel emanating from it. If you could include in your description what state/country you live in, this could help Jay and me a lot while judging to get a feel of what your song represents. If you don't feel comfortable with this, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO IT! As a reminder, remember to add your scores in this group, and include a link to your score that it was entered for "Jay's and John's Challenges" so that we know it's not a random score.
This challenge starts tomorrow so if you'd like to sign up now, do it as early as possible for your convenience. Thanks!!
Today marks the release of MuseScore Piano Roll. Piano Roll is a popular and convenient method to display piano notation in a way that not only simplifies learning a new piece for novice musicians who lack a teacher, it also beautifully visualizes each score.
(Video captured from https://musescore.com/classicman/scores/33715 )
Give it a try by simply clicking on the Piano Roll icon now available on all solo piano scores. Be sure to tell us what you think in Improving MuseScore.com!
All of these improvements are designed to not only make MuseScore.com the most valuable resource online for sharing and discovering great musical works but for learning them as well.
We hope you’ll be as excited about this new feature as we were to create it for you, and as always we look forward to your feedback.
This is just the first of an exciting series of updates and releases for MuseScore PianoRoll; we're already hard at work on improving the experience!
As people (hopefully) join, please put down your team name and number as well as your position within that team
I'm from 4915 Spartronics and I am the pneumatics lead, electronics second in command, robot design lead, and strategy lead.
I posted the same issue about a month ago and it was fixed. It seems to be back again. When I press the play button on the website, the score synchronization is off. The red highlight immediately skips to measure 2 and remains out of sync unless I stop the playback and restart or reposition the cursor.
Got questions about music, instruments, brand names, more?
Fellow members will try to answer them to the best of their ability.
(Life advice is fine as well, I suppose)
Apologies in advance if this is in the wrong group, but:
I have two instruments I would like to be added to a future version of MuseScore, if possible.
1. A mizmar/zurna--An (if Google is to be believed) Egyptian instrument that seems to be used in a fair bit of music that goes for "exotic" flair
2. Solo vocalists (as the MuseScore instruments all seem to imitate a choir)
Let's start a word game! One word after another. First word: You
Do any of you guys know what i should spend on a beginner violin.
Four days ago I noticed a new style of font on the comments section of my page. I figured it was your new Spring look, but now whenever I want to play a piece of mine or elsewhere one of three things happens:
1) The blue line begins to race across the page before I press play and it plays with the scroll 8 or so bars ahead; 2) it stutters or does not play; 3) It plays (eureka!)
Hardly a good way to entice listeners, wouldn't you say?
Sometimes it stalls and it takes forever to leave the page.
Until this occurrence all had been fine. I have rebooted and my PC seems to be fine in all other aspects. I use Windows 10, Firefox and ver 2.3.2.
I'm excited to finally announce our fourth competition!
This time, compose a duet for contrabassoon and piccolo. (I got the idea from a music lecture I watched, and thought it would make for a fun competition theme.)
- All of the notes must be within the respective instruments range
- The total length can be anywhere between 1 and 5 minutes long
- Comment a link to your submission below
- Each user may only submit one entry
- Voting will begin on June 1st, 2019
Have fun! :)
Post epic memes and I will judge them
1=Not even a meme
10=The best meme I have seen
So a couple of people have asked for an extension for the first competition, and as we've only had a few of entries, I've decided to give you 1 week to complete your compositions. The one's we've had so far have been excellent, so keep 'em coming!
You now have until Saturday 25th May to complete your compositions. This is an extra 6 days, so be grateful. ;D
I will announce the winners on either Saturday on Sunday, depending on how long it takes me to mark them all. Well done to everyone who's entered so far!
DON"T SPOIL THE ENDGAME
I saw it twice, and may I say. IT. WAS. AMAZING. Now, I may be a marvel superfan that bought tickets a month in advance for the premier screening, but this was one heck of a movie.
But, opinions------ Did any one not like i for specific reasons (Please be cryptic (Wait that makes no sense. Be specific but cryptic?) Just don't spoil the movie!!!
I will be moderating this disscusion so no one gets it spoiled for them!!!
Is there a way to retrieve an online revision if necessary?
I originally upload the composition In January 2018. Revise it May 2018. Revise it again on March 2019.
For legal purposes, and if necessary, would there be any way to retrieve the Jan 2018 and May 2018 revisions?
I don't need to at this time, but this would be an incredibly helpful feature (at least for me)
That is, if you don't mind telling.
I have allergies to dust, stainless steel when it's in contact with water, and sodium lauryl sulfate, and chlorine.
Hello MuseScore team,
I was recently messaged by someone who was having trouble accessing some of my scores. When they specified which ones they were having trouble seeing, they starting listing off the titles of my *private* scores which I upload to MuseScore so they are backed up safely online.
I'm not sure how long this has been a feature, but any user of the site can go to anyone's Scores page and see the titles, descriptions and first page of all their private scores. In my opinion, this is neither evident nor acceptable behaviour of the "private upload" feature. These scores should not even be part of my total score count, let alone displayed on my profile.
If this is working as intended, I will be removing my private scores from this site.
Enabling the synthesizer, to solo instruments, coverts the percussion instruments in my score to piano:
If it is an inherent limitation of the synthesizer, please consider implementing a mixer with features similar to those in the desktop Musescore application.
So I just ranted about this in a comment, then figured it deserved its own discussion... Jay and John's Challenges LIVES! Yes, @Legendian is leaving, and @Jaybird1 probably can't run a group this involved on his own... but look at the title! Jay and John's Challenges! This is a challenge! If a few other people are willing to help out, this competition group will see its best days yet! Obligatory sniff for Legendian's departure, of course, but after that, let's get straight back into it! I, for one, can't wait for the June challenge! Who's with me?
This is where I will tell all of you the challenges and the due dates.
