I am a alto saxophone player who has around 2 1/2 years of experience and has been in private lessons and band the whole time
I never learned/misunderstood articulation and have been just blowing air. I believed that I sounded pretty good that way and could play advanced pieces.
Recently I learned this was wrong and I honestly sound terrible if I try to articulate. Should I play in band without articulation and practice articulation at home until I can articulate in band without sounded bad? Not sure what to do and if you all have videos for me to watch to help with my articulation (not that I think they will help; my private lesson teacher is very helpful and I still couldn't get tonguing down at all in 30 minutes; this could be because I have been playing a different way for 2 1/2 years)
I do wear Invisalign (not sure if that makes it harder to articulate)
I have a "tryout" for my high school band class that I am going into in June, and I would like to know if any of you have a recommendation on a jazz tune for me to play. Keep in mind that this "tryout" is only for the band director to see where I am at on the alto saxophone.
I’m having a competition! Most voted original song gets to be played!
It doesn’t really matter what the whole thing is about. It’s just gotta be like a story... I need strings, brass, and everything. Like Peter and The Wolf, you know? Each instrument representing a different character. I don’t care what the theme is, and heck, my teacher might not like it and no one might vote— but this could be fun. He recommended me using this so I can find some great song writers.
Here is my new work, this is my second work i make a bass quintet inspired by the poem Astrophobia by H.P Lovecraft
Hope you enjoy it!
Comment me what do you think about it!
How do I transpose a piece of music in Musescore?
Hello, I'm writing a piece for my orchestra to play at the end of the school year, and I have a rough draft done. I'd really appreciate anything you have to say about it, especially criticism (but, of course, compliments feel good too). I don't want to look like a fool :P so I want to polish up this piece really well, even if that means writing another draft, or just write a different piece entirely.
I need people to talk to. Or cuddle or something.
So I'm entering a competition next year and I need to find a good piece of music. Any suggestions?
I love this piece and how it blends together perfectly. I did not make it, but appreciate who ever made it.
I would like to remind this group that rules like swearing and inappropriate things are not allowed on this group. If this is is problem I might have to do something about it.
What instrument do you play?
Mine is the Alto Saxophone. :)
Please list your favorite saxophone.
So, I have high school audition's next week and I was wondering if anyone would want to hear me and give me some tips on how to play the stuff better. If you are interested send me a discord friend request at: master9729#3559
Hi, I have an alto saxophone and I'm looking for a partiture :"SAPORE DI SALE, GINO PAOLI".
If you could kindly send me the partiture, I'm grateful to you.
Thank you very much.
I was just wondering if any of you guys have any tips on how to play tenor clef as I am currently learning how to play it. Also, how do you know whether the sound is right?
This is my first composure and if you could give me feedback on what I could do differently next time that would be amazing :)
