Composing Playoff Contest

A composing playoff is a contest with 3 rounds (sometimes more depending on how many people enter on the first round). The first round anyone can enter their pieces in. When at least 5 people enter the contest, a few members (selected by me) will judge the top 3 winners. In the 2nd round, the top 3 will then compose another piece for the round. Then the same judges will judge the top 2. Then in the 3rd round (the final round), the last 2 winning contestants will compose yet another piece. Then the judges will judge the 1 winner of the round. The judges will vote on the reward for the winner.

Piano Battles are starting up again!

Hello,
I am happy to say that there will be another piano battle. Unfortunately, the last one did not go so well. I hope this one turns out better.
Just like the last piano battle, this one will be a tournament. The best people move on.
RULES:
Only join if you are able to submit on time (don't be afk)
If you lose, don't get mad, it's just a game
You have to have been playing piano for at least 1 year
More rules coming soon!

[Winner Announcement!] Musecorps Composition Competition #2 - End of the Decade!

Hello, everyone!

This competition, overall, was very close! I had a really tough time picking which entry I believed deserved the win this time around. That being said, there were no bad submissions! It was really anyone’s game.

The winner of the second competition is...

Skyth21, with their arrangement of Joji’s Slow Dancing in the Dark!
https://musescore.com/skyth21/slow-dancing-in-the-dark

Once Skyth21 reaches out to me, I’ll gift them the month subscription to MuseScore Pro.

I think this competition went fairly well. The only thing that puts me off from doing another would be the overall small number of submissions. Let me know if there are any things I can do to improve these going forward!

Musecorps Composition Competition #2 - End of the Decade!

Hello again, everyone!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the last competition. If you didn’t see, Kyri_Leal here on MuseScore won the previous composition! Here is the link to their arrangement, if you’d like to check it out:
https://youtu.be/ebZF_inBSeY

For this next competition, I figured we would celebrate the end of the decade. Arrange a song from any genre that was released this decade (2010-2019) for a drum corps.

Here are the rules:
- Follow typical drum corps format (3 trumpet, 2 mellophone, 3 baritone, 1-2 tuba)
- You don't need to include percussion, but it might increase your chances of winning if you do so
- Only submit one arrangement per person!
- Arrangement must be at least 1:30 long, but no more than 5:00
- You MUST submit your arrangement by January 29th, 2020 (Date may change, but it will NOT be any sooner than January 22nd)

When you're ready to enter, just reply to this post with a link to your arrangement.

Unlike the first competition, I am offering more to the winners. On top of posting your arrangement to my YouTube channel, I will be gifting the winner of this competition with a month of MuseScore Pro.

Good luck! If you have any questions, ask me through a reply to my comment below, please. It just makes keeping track of the submissions easier. Thanks!

Troubleshooting sax reed positioning

I need some help solving a problem I have with my bari sax. Sometimes it plays just fine, sometimes it takes a LOT of air to get it to make a sound. I've deduced that my reed is the cause of the problem, predictably, but I'm not sure how.

Today, for example, it was playing perfectly for roughly the hour I was practicing. Then I started to hear my spit buzzing in the instrument, so I took off the reed, wiped off the excess spit, wet it again for good measure, and put it back on. Now, no matter how I move or readjust the reed, it just won't make a noise unless I put a great deal of air through the instrument. I have adjusted the position and tightness of the ligature, the position of the reed, and my embouchure, but nothing is fixing it. Any suggestions on what the problem could be?

Thanks!
