Introduce yourself!

You might know me better by my second account... EthanHarris
Anyway,

I am a cello player of 5 years and I LOOOOVVVVEEEE music. I am obsessed and I recently have taken up music theory and composition as a hobby. I am also trying to teach myself guitar, Piano, and any other random instrument i stumble upon.

Newbie composer, how's my piece?

I'm fairly new to writing music so I'm not the best at it lol. I also use odd annotations because the software does not show the full effect (e.g adding individual dynamics instead of crescendos). I don't keep in mind presentation as I'm not really concerned about that. I'm not done with the piece even though it's pretty long. I'm open to constructive criticism. Hope you guys like it!

Boy Scouts' Decision(s)

Since I'm pretty sure we've got a few Boy Scouts here, here's a discussion where everyone (Scouts and otherwise) can discuss the decisions made by the BSA on whether to allow gay boys in as members and gay adults in as leaders.
This is NOT a discussion to discuss LGBT rights on the whole; it only serves to discuss whether the Boy Scouts of America should allow gay scouts and/or leaders to join their organization, and any potential impacts that allowance might have. Thanks to Person Rocca for clarifying.
What do you all think of it? My views on the subject will become evident as the discussion progresses.

On czerny as a composer

I recently got a bit into listening to Czerny's etudes as actual compositions and it turns out a lot of them are quite elegant and beautiful. I feel like I have missed a whole world of piano music to listen to, because I was not taught to play art of finger dext nor any Hanon when I started out. The first piece titled ''etude'' that I started with was actually already Chopin's 25 no 1 and by then I already had quite the technique so I just felt like ranting a bit about how we should appreciate Czerny a bit more. It feels like he has just been neglected together with Hanon and Kabalevsky for being ''practice material''.

Btw here is my latest composition, a mazurka in the style of late romantic composers:
