I have a simple melody in Am and the key changes in the score to A. If you use the musescore for Android function for transposing (+2) then only the A key is changed to B key. The Am part still shows Am.
Which do y’all prefer, acoustic or electric?
OK. I've got a question for anybody out there.
Someone on Roblox recently asked me to transcribe a piano piece.
I go to look at the piece itself and I see in the treble clef (2/4, if you are curious) 1 quarter note followed by an 8th rest followed by an eighth note proceeded by ANOTHER quarter note/eighth rest/eighth note in that same measure.
This pattern continues at various places throughout the song.
Does anybody want to explain this? Any help would be much appreciated!
I would like to know your favorite game
The wait is over! The first competition is here!
That didn't take long! Thank you to everyone who has joined the group in the last 24 hours or so. :D
So, I have a couple of things to talk about, the first is announcing the competition, the second is regarding Admins and Judges etc, so I want to quickly apologise for the lengthy post.
But let's start with the fun bit!
CCC#1 - "The Watzmann" by Caspar David Friedrich.
"The Watzmann" is a painting by artist Caspar David Friedrich, made in the mid 1820s. It is a fantastic landscape painting, and although I know nothing about art, I absolutely love this painting.
This challenge was inspired by a composition task I was given at school, where we had to write a piece of music inspired by a painting. I chose a different painting by Caspar David Friedrich, which inspired me to look up some more of his art to use for this competition.
So, the challenge is fairly simple: Write a piece of music inspired by this painting, "The Watzmann". I look forward to seeing what you can come up with.
A few quick rules/details:
1) You may use any ensemble of instruments.
2) The piece must be between 1.30 and 5 minutes long.
3) The piece must be original, not an arrangement.
You will be given a mark out of 10 for your piece, along with some feedback. You have until Sunday 19th May which gives you one month to complete the piece. I will announce the winners as soon as possible after that.
Admin / Judge
So, basically, if anyone would like to be an admin and judge in the competition, please message me. Your job will be to help me mark the scores, and make sure the group runs smoothly. Obviously, you won't be able to participate in any competitions which you help judge, so sorry about that. If no-one wants to, I can do it myself, but it would make things a lot easier for me, so message if you're willing to help. Thanks!
There. I apologise again for the long post. I'd never get away with this on RSA. :/
Thanks again to everyone who helped boost this group to 30 members yesterday. :D
I look forward to seeing all of your entries to the competition. Obviously you don't have to, but if you are entering, it would be helpful if you could just let me know in the comments. Have fun!
Hey I have yet to receive feedback on a piece I posted and saw the thing about letting you know so... yeah. Its called Mary Had a Little Lamb (not a joke just listen to it). I am doing this from my phone and links aren't working for me otherwise Id post the link too :)
Should I? Any advise on how to start? Best beginner stuff etc etc etc?
I need to find a name for my antique 1940s solid metal clarinet... my flute is named Felipe, and need a name that goes nicely with it.
Thanks for your help!
You could say that I am conquering my Pathetique Project. That's right, I am writing the Pathetique Sonata for a symphony orchestra. My score has this instrumentation:
Horn in F
Tenor Trombone(which just shows up in the score as Trombone)
Here is the link to it. I will also add it to the group's Sheet Music in case you want easier access to it.
I have already gotten a lot of feedback on the Grave and so I'm mainly wanting feedback on the first theme at this point.
Am I the only one who pretends to play the piano with my 10 fingers on a table when I get bored? (and when I don't feel like taking the phone)
I will announce the details of the first competition when we reach 30 members.
Please invite your friends, and suggest people for me to send direct invites to, so that we can reach that goal as quickly as possible!
Coundown to 30: 34/30
Update at about 1am BST: It is quite late where I live, so I'll be posting the competition in the morning.
Edit 19 Apr: I'm not updating this counter anymore. Competition coming soon. :D
So this happened earlier today at my school. Basically, some dude in my grade took a pair of scissors, took them apart, and used them to attempt to stab 3 different people. The best he got was one of them was bleeding from the finger, but the point is that he didn’t exactly intend for them to leave in one piece. A few minutes later, where only the involved people have heard about this, half the school administration comes down to get him. From the rumors I’ve heard, he got 3 weeks of OSS and a Police Referral. Anyone had something like this happen at their school?
I'm working on my first few pieces and learning a lot in the process.
I'm trying to figure out how to pick a key for a song. Is there a general rule of thumb that happy songs are written in certain keys, sad songs fit into others, moody songs fit in the rest.
How do YOU select the keys for your songs?
Also what resources really helped you when you first started out?
I feel pretty good asking you guys, because I have a lot of respect for the songs that are posted here.
As weird as it sounds, I’m stirring onions in a pan with one hand, and typing this discussion in the other.
Spam is only allowed in comments not that you could edit this discussion I mean I’m the admin but whatever spam your heart out (not literally you would die)
SWITCH PLAYERS- I'm getting really bored on my switch, anybody wanna share friend codes so we can chill and get some splatoon 2 on?
ANY GAMER- need sum friends to play freakin fortnite (do you have save the world, btw?) or trials or something i don't care
MY code is in my bio by the way

Hi everyone, I need everyone's help for this challenge!
The challenge is to write just one or two measures, at 120 bpm, in Eb major, and in 4/4. It can be anything you want, but you can't change bpm. You also can't make it swing. I want everyone to submit their two measure here or at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScq04Z2pRoy-wEzHzmwHhP2iwdvMYGP3UmBXZFzLRdv9-rRHg/viewform?usp=sf_link!
I will compile all of them when I have enough and show it to you all!
Ps: If you don't add a bass clef, I will.
- Have a great night/day, Jack.L
