Does anybody think it’s possible to write out trumpet aheet music for Missed Connection by the Head and the Heart? If you can, thanks so much.
SIGN UPS FOR MAY CHALLENGE!!! (Please read "RULES" before sign up if you have not yet accepted the terms). Thank you! DEADLINE MAY 1ST
It's been quite the journey members!! With MuseScore's playback sequence out of wack, it's been hard for Jay and I to judge scores, therefore we had to cancel the April challenge. But now it's fixed! And we're just gonna move right into the May challenge (starting on May 1st)!! Please sign in here for registration, and become the next competitor for a chance to become the next winner!!! The challenge is still being decided on so if you wish to wait then by all means, please do, but make sure you check in for updates on what the theme/challenge will be. You can also resign whenever you wish. Thanks guys! LET'S GET SET!
-John & Jay
P.S. A mini challenge will be in effect to start either later today or tomorrow to pass the time for the May challenge affective in about 2 weeks. The winner will receive recognition.
So, I've gotten myself into quite a predicament. I promised 5 people I would write them piano sonatas.
Which is an issue, because I've never composed anything in my life.
The good news is I have over a year to do them.
Question 1 - I know sonatas are usually multiple movements, but does it still count if I have just one movement but it's in sonata form?
Question 2 - WHERE DO I START?!?! I took AP Music Theory last year, so I have a pretty good knowledge of chords and stuff. But I also learned that there's all kinds of stuff to consider, like chord progressions, the um...actual notes...., dynamics, phrasing.....form....all that... So where do I start? Should I write the basic stuff all the way through then go all the way back to the beginning and polish it? Or should I start from the beginning and make it perfect before I move on?
Question 3 - How long does it take to compose a piano movement? I say movement because these are probably going to end up being more movements in sonata form than actual sonatas. I know it's different for everyone, but what's the average in your opinion? Keep in mind that I'm a beginner in composing, and I'll probably spend 1-2 hours a day working on this.
Question 4 - What's the best software to use. For reasons I don't feel like explaining, I can't download anything, so no, Musescore is not an option. I have to use one of the online based ones. I was messing around with Noteflight, I don't really have an opinion on it, but which one do you think is best?
Question 5 - Exactly how dumb am I to say I would do this?
honestly she's been really supportive and I want her to see me play, but is that going beyond "boundaries" if she comes?
I love her so much though, just seeing her makes me feel happy because she supports me so much
lol none of this is meant in a gay way, I'm NOT crushing on my guidance counselor i swear
it's not meant to be a weird thing either I just want her to come and see me perform.
is it weird if I ask her tomorrow
This discussion has already been posted several times......but hey, it's fun :P Let's play :D
1. Would you rather leave musescore and never share your music online again OR be very popular on several music sharing sites but constantly have your music plagiarized?
2. Would you rather have your favourite musescorer block you OR have me kick you from RSA and block you? (you wouldn't be able to join this group again)
3. Would you rather gain a reputation on musescore as someone who always posts insulting hate comments on people's scores OR gain a reputation on musescore as someone like Dookis?
4. Would you rather lose all your devoted followers on musescore (and none of them ever follow you again or look at any of your music - but you can gain new devoted followers) OR delete all your scores (you can't screenshot your comments or anything, and you can't repost the scores that were deleted - but you can post new scores).
5. Would you rather plagiarize someone else's original composition and explicitly claim it as yours (you get attention and praise, so you have to feel all the guilt, but you can't delete it) OR have someone who has a very large fanbase (as in about 100 000+ subscribers) plagiarize your original composition and get tons of praise from it?
Edit: Would you rather double the average amount of comments you get on each of your scores, but also get 10 insulting, paragraph-long hate comments per score from 10 different moderately-well-known musescorers (and you can't delete them) OR halve the average amount of comments you get on each score?
I mean this one is ok pretty funny but maybe not the best.
hey very talented people (obviously not me)
The first contest in this group. Yayyyyy!
So, here's the description:
1. The music has to be gloomy and sad (I have STD (just kidding) )
2. 4/4 time
3. No key signature
4. Instrument: Piano
The Winner will be announced everywhere possible!
Send the file to my email: firstname.lastname@example.org
32 admins lol.
I don’t think I’ve seen that many. xD
The US has recently fallen to 48th in the world in terms of press freedom (Behind Botswana, Chile, Romania, etc.)
What does everyone think of this? I personally think that a lot of this is fueled by Trump's constant anti-media rhetoric and it's seriously causing a cancerous culture in the US right now. Anyone else think this? Anyone think that US media is the enemy of the people and that this is good? Opinions welcome
Hello I'm kinda new to piano I can play and read notes I am looking for some good not super hard pieces to play. Any thoughts?
The wait is over! The first competition is here!
That didn't take long! Thank you to everyone who has joined the group in the last 24 hours or so. :D
So, I have a couple of things to talk about, the first is announcing the competition, the second is regarding Admins and Judges etc, so I want to quickly apologise for the lengthy post.
But let's start with the fun bit!
CCC#1 - "The Watzmann" by Caspar David Friedrich.
"The Watzmann" is a painting by artist Caspar David Friedrich, made in the mid 1820s. It is a fantastic landscape painting, and although I know nothing about art, I absolutely love this painting.
This challenge was inspired by a composition task I was given at school, where we had to write a piece of music inspired by a painting. I chose a different painting by Caspar David Friedrich, which inspired me to look up some more of his art to use for this competition.
So, the challenge is fairly simple: Write a piece of music inspired by this painting, "The Watzmann". I look forward to seeing what you can come up with.
A few quick rules/details:
1) You may use any ensemble of instruments.
2) The piece must be between 1.30 and 5 minutes long.
3) The piece must be original, not an arrangement.
You will be given a mark out of 10 for your piece, along with some feedback. You have until Sunday 19th May which gives you one month to complete the piece. I will announce the winners as soon as possible after that.
Admin / Judge
So, basically, if anyone would like to be an admin and judge in the competition, please message me. Your job will be to help me mark the scores, and make sure the group runs smoothly. Obviously, you won't be able to participate in any competitions which you help judge, so sorry about that. If no-one wants to, I can do it myself, but it would make things a lot easier for me, so message if you're willing to help. Thanks!
There. I apologise again for the long post. I'd never get away with this on RSA. :/
Thanks again to everyone who helped boost this group to 30 members yesterday. :D
I look forward to seeing all of your entries to the competition. Obviously you don't have to, but if you are entering, it would be helpful if you could just let me know in the comments. Have fun!
Now I don't mean to offend people who like it- ur entitled to ur own opinion- but I personally don't like pop music and as young person living in today's modern world its practically IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THROUGH SCHOOL without being judged. Pweashe tell me I'm not the only one... what are your experiences like??
welcome everyone to the first biography. I was going to wait two weeks to post this one, but I decided to post it earlier. if you would like one on you just PM me. ok here we go.
for this first Biography I interviewed Jaybird1. From what I have found out about him. HE IS NOT A BIRD. Sorry to all @Jaybird1 followers. I know this comes as a devastating blow. He does love to watch birds though.
Now to the more serious side. I asked him why he think he has so many followers and he revealed this: he is a Zelda fan and according to him people love that. he also thinks its because people like him.:][ a lot of people must like, 277 to be exact.] When I asked him if he considers himself successful he skirted around the question by saying" it depends what you meant by successful, I am successful and the things I love, though I procrastinate. I would say I am successful in music. I catch on things pretty quick and I love learning." [paraphrased] His most active follower is...….@lizzapie. Congrats to her.
on another note, he does not follow you because he likes you, but because he likes you music. Cool Fact for you: he practices on the piano at least 3 hours day. His favorite person on musescore is his 'twin' [if you know tell me]
He also gotten to meet the lead guitarist of Maroon 5 and the guy gave him his pick. besides music this guy loves Babies and Coins. [interesting combination] and also his brother [his BF,[those are his words] I found this interesting, he wants to visit Prague, Czech Republic, and Bratislava Slovakia.
I hope you have enjoyed this first edition of Biographies if you want to see more Join Musescore News and Biographies.
Hey Guys! I'm back :P
I came to realize that this community makes me feel so much less lonely :) The people I meet on here are so amazing, and I realized I needed that in my life right now XD
Anyway, I wanted to tell you a summary of the book my aunt bought (she has a son who is almost 2 years, so it's a kids book :P )
I don't remember the exact plot (neither does she, she says, because it was so bad :) but it went something like this:
Walter the Farting Dog belongs to a family who is having a yard sale. The family isn't selling enough of their "stuff" so they decide to sell their dog AKA Walter the Farting Dog!! Somehow he meets this clown and the clown uses Walter the Farting Dog to blow up his balloons (I don't need to explain this, right??? XD) So then Walter the Farting Dog and his new clown buddy travel to a bank, and thus begin on a serial crime spree of robbing banks. This is done with Walter the Farting Dog using his.....talents....to hopefully get people out of the bank so his clown friend can rob it. Another technique they used was the balloons that Walter the Farting Dog had inflated would be suddenly popped, theoretically scaring the people off.
And then it ends up something like the clown smoking a cigar and the bank blowing up because of the combination of the smoke and the....other smoke......xD.
......This is a children's book.....
P.S If you're a doctor, nurse, or have any medical knowledge, please message me. I've got a quick question. Thanks.
The group is under new management. If you are a cellist, feel free to join.
This person is African American, appears in Cloud City in Episode V, only has about 3 seconds of screen time, and is known for wanting to protect his ice cream.
I am your new group owner, Lizzapie! I am very excited to help you all gain feedback and likes on your scores as well as make some beneficial changes to this group that will assist you all further. Please check out the rules below:
Please feel free to post some fun discussions to keep conversation going! Just make sure to keep your discussions free from profanity, offensive topics or statements, and bullying.
Also, I have noticed many people advertising scores in this group. That is great! However, please keep it to a minimum (at least once a week). If I see that you have posted the same discussion in multiple groups, I will take it down. It is rather unsettling for people who are scrolling through the community section to see the same discussion multiple times.
There have also been spammers posting in our discussions. I will be keeping an eye out for this spam and deleting in ASAP.
If you post a comment on this conversation I will try to guess how old you are since I don’t know the majority of y’alls ages.
