Hey I posted a song not too long ago, and i could really use some suggestions/tips. Thanks :)
Hey guys! This is the first time I ever wrote an atonal piece, so I would like some advice and critique!
I have just created a group to compile a songbook of songs from Musescore (See group description for more detail, here's the link: http://musescore.com/groups/ultimate_songbook_of_musescore. We need all the people we can get to join, as it 30+ people to really kick start the path to publishing the song book, so it would be great for everybody to join!
Thanks in advance!
I just edited out a few mistakes in my latest score. Feedback appreciated
Encase you do like it follow for more pieces that I will be releasing shortly
Please read the piece description; I plan to revise this piece later for improper notation and time signature but I'd also love to hear thoughts on the material, themes, harmony, structure, etc.
Hi Guys! I have created a new piece into my collection!... a rondo! I would gladly like comments and critique based on it! :)
I'm currently doing a collection of pieces in all 24 keys, for piano solo. I need help completing the set, so I'd appreciate it if you'd help out composing a short (less than or around 4 minutes) in G# minor (for now). The only criteria it must fulfill in order for it to be considered in the project is that the style of the piece must be different from the rest. Example: the piece in F major is written in a waltz, the one in Eb major is written 4/4 against 3/4, C minor has a Prokofiev (I think) feel to it, F minor is written in jazz, etc. Also, it must show some form of virtuoso/impressionism (whichever you are aiming for). I am interested in the dances forms (tango, marzuka, minuet, sarabande...), but anything goes for now. Credits will be given for the piece if it makes it in, as well as a favourite and a follow, very well deserving.
Here's the piece: https://musescore.com/user/151230/scores/5162921
PS: I might reject some pieces if I find the piece unsuitable for the project, I'll also include critique/reasons for the said decision. Love to hear from you guys!
This is a very incomplete rough draft of my Scherzo in E minor. It is one of the first pieces I've composed in a serious manner, and being that I don't actually take composition lessons, I'm looking for places to receive critique. Thanks for listening! Please comment :)
Out of curiosity, which song in this group is the hardest to play? I don't mean impossible to play or it being a super long song with mediocre technical skill, just hard on a technical/interpretive level. Or should this be a mini-competition lol
Hello! I'm a self-taught composer, and this is my second full piece (I've written things like character themes for friends that I don't count as full pieces) and, although I've been working on it throughout the summer, I'm still unhappy with it. I'm looking for critiques and tips on how I can improve this piece.
So we had a 3 way tie for first, so I had to choose from those 3 as to which was first, second, and third (which also meant changing their scores so they placed as listed below lol)
FIRST! - @Skylighter - 20
SECOND! - @lizzapie - 19
THIRD! - @The Virtuoso Pianist - 18
now the point scale for the rest of you!

I'll start my judging, and I'll do it with a 20 point scale like last time!
hopefully I can get it done soon!
There were a ton of submissions this time round, so thank you all!
order of JUDGING (not the results):
Hey guys!! I might as well start our summer comp, so here it goes!
must be submitted by July 15th
- 1 submission per person
- no longer than 10 minutes and no shorter than 1 minute
- must be ORIGINAL
- it can be for any type of ensemble you can think of from solo Piano to Saxophone, Viola and Harp ;P
(I haven't decided on how I'll do the judging yet, but once completed, hopefully it won't take me long to get the results out :D)
now go make some music!!!! :D
So I am super excited, because I just found some really amazing (if used correctly) FREE VST soundfonts!!!
So I put together a quick list of them!
So, I just posted my latest song, and I'm looking to gain as much feedback and critiquing as I can since I'm trying to make a "Summer Push" to be a better composer!
If you are a non-pro user but wish to be given the chance to have a pro account, this is the comp for you!
Follow the guidelines under the "ABOUT" section. Only for NON-PRO USERS ONLY
Hope to see you all there :)

*I did average out a little bit the scoring of the scores, so some scores scored higher in caparison to others than what is written, but they all had some really great ideas!!*
You may have seen my “Shorts for Trombone.” It is by far my most popular score, probably because it pops up if you search for a lot of popular music. It has not been updated in a while and I would like to add a whole bunch of new excerpts to it. If you have any suggestions, comment them below and I will add pretty much anything.
I am also interested in creating versions of my shorts for concert pitch treble, Eb treble, F treble, and Bb treble, and a version in bass clef an octave lower than the current version so that more people can play my shorts. I am not pro, so those would be something you would have to ask for.
