Quite few compositions in this group seem to be about various types of critters -toads, mosquitoes, birds, horses, does sponge bob count as a critter?- do let's have a new exciting contest. You are invited to submit your original critter composition, about any creature you want, as many entries as you want. First, second, and third place winners will be announced after Dec 15. Doesn't this sound exciting? It should since we already have some really great pieces that are of course automatically entered into the contest. As always, we like music that is funny and silly so get those compositions entered and good luck to all.
BarryP in the de-composers group posted a discussion pointing us to a great Youtube vid interpretation of the famous C# minor prelude featuring Harpo Marx. Thought I would pass this along for others to enjoy as well. enjoy.thanks BaryP
New contest 7-18-14
Ok, admittedly, the last contest was a fiasco but this is a real contest, honest. There will be no reanimated judges, no secret invisible winning compositions, no fake winning free trip to a tropical paradise. Instead, here is the deal:
1. only compositions that are actually visible to all can be submitted and entered.
2. The administrator chinadoll (who will not be allowed to enter the contest) will be the sole judge.
3. Entries must be original compositions.
4. Each person entering may submit multiple compositions.
5. Any composition either already posted or newly posted between 7-18 and 10-31 may be entered. to enter, just post a composition or request that one already posted be entered.
6. Entries will be judged based on originality/novelty, humor, silliness, and fun.
7. All compositions will receive a detailed critique of at 30-50 words in length (if that matters to you) by the administrator
8. The prize for the winner will be the honor of winning.
9. The contest will end 10-31-14 and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be announced at this site shortly thereafter.
10. of course, all this is assuming anyone actually enters the contest...
On my Youtube channel I post arrangements and compositions, that can be found here as well (well some of them at least) and performances and improvisations. It would mean the world to me if you could check it out.
I am not sure if my songs actually fit into this category; if they do, I will be happy to upload them ;-)
This is probably my favorite group. What about you? :)
I am new comer in this MuseScore group. I am a piano learner and learning this MuseScore software. I am composing a song with the software but I am quite not sure that the sound font I used (the MuseScore default sound font) is the most suitable one to the actual grand piano. Is anybody can help me in this matter?
Hello; I am currently trying to write a fourth piano concerto (which will be the first uploaded here), but I am having somewhat of trouble in several areas... I have written several fragments of it, but cannot get any coherency or particular interest. I am increasingly busy, and so I offer the fragments I've written to whomsoever wishes to use them to write their own concerto with my beginnings.
If you wish to use anything there, you may... I haven't got the energy to finish it...
There are many good ones out there...
But they do not have competitions very often.
You have constraints and rules you have to follow. Sometimes it is as easy as writing a dissonant Minuet, sometimes it might be as challenging (for some people) as writing a Fugue. So come on! Enter your first competition! The winner (whoever recieves the most votes) will be moderator/co administer to the group until the winner of the second competition wins! Hurry! Deadline is August 8!
1- Submit your best score to your group(s) that you are a part of.
2- Submit any score that YOU have written, whether it be concert band, orchestra, quartet, trio, ect. Any music Genre or group of instruments is accepted, unless your leader says otherwise.
3- Your score has to be at least 25 seconds long (no limit to how long it can be)
4- If you are a member of multiple groups, select only one group to submit your music to please; we don't want 1 user winning all the groups' competitions
5- Do NOT vote on your own score. EVER.
6- Please post only scores with playable parts (ask a member that plays the instrument that has the hard or impossible part, if you can't tell)
7- Enter ONLY music that you have written (no arrangements, or anything that isn't written by yourself). If anyone tries to win this competition by posting an arrangement under their own name, they will be banned from this group forevermore.
8- Post a reply to a discussion on your instrument group telling which composition you would like to vote on by whatever date we choose.
9--ALL WORKS MUST BE ORIGINAL PIECES WRITTEN BY OR CO. WRITTEN BY THE USER WHO ENTERS IT. NO ARRANGEMENTS. IF A USER WROTE THE LYRICS, WHILE ANOTHER WROTE THE MUSIC, THAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED LEGAL, ACCORDING TO THE RULES OF THIS ORGANIZATION.
10-- ALL entries MUST BE RECEIVED by August 20th, 2012 & VOTED ON BY August 24th, 2012.
(I love copy and paste)
I have just created a group to compile a songbook of songs from Musescore (See group description for more detail, here's the link: http://musescore.com/groups/ultimate_songbook_of_musescore. We need all the people we can get to join, as it 30+ people to really kick start the path to publishing the song book, so it would be great for everybody to join!
Thanks in advance!
joeyvl won the completion and will be moving on to the next round in the Master's Composers Competition. The scores were Tran. Stupid Etude: 9.33. Sonitina: 6. After The War: 6.5. R. T.: 7.5. During The War: 4.5. Good job everyone!
Make sure you either vote early or on the 19th. So the faster you get your songs up, the more likely you will get voters.
Since this group is connected to the Master Composers, were going to have a contest to decide who will go compete in their competion. The song has to be posted by April 29th. It will be a group vote and you can not vote for your own. If you can't make voting, feel free to vote early. The song must have written "Song for the Contest" in the title, subtitle, or description. The song can have a couple other insrtuments than the piano but I would prefer that the main instrument be piano. These are the requirments....
1. The song is 1 minute long
2. Has an A and B section
3. Has atleast 3 sharps or flats OR 1 key change OR 1 tempo change. (Ritards and Accelerandos do not count)
Good luck and please participate!
Welcome all you piano players!
