Introduction & Transposing

in Brass

Hello.  I'm a new member of the group & a fairly inexperienced musescore user.  I've been playing the trombone for 51 years & the euphonium & baritone for 42.  @ 10 of those years professionally & 25 semi-professionally, & the rest just for fun.  I've played in many groups of different styles, but my favorites have been big band, brass quintet, & symphony orchestra.  I've also enjoyed tuba-euphonium ensembles & trombone ensembles.  Merry TubaChristmas is one of my favorite annual events.  Due to pain & wear and tear, I've recently had to put down my trombone - at least for  a while.  But I'm enjoying playing my new euphonium.  I've been arranging for big band & brass ensembles for more than 20 years.

This may be the wrong place for this question... Is there a way to transpose & print the transposition?  Thanks in advance.

The Virtuoso Piano Discussion-Contest! (2)

As promised, albeit delayed, this is the second contest! I'm not calling the second "week" because I will extend the period to nearly two weeks because I will be away for a period of time, but nevertheless, the competition ensues. The contest is created as a personal quest to find challenging music (and still in the realms of playability) that is technically sound and/or emotionally charged, and also as a platform for virtuoso pianist/composers to show off their skill. Here are a few rules:

1. Instrument: Piano Solo only
2. Duration of piece: Maximum of 7 minutes
3. Style of piece that is allowed this week: Fugue and/or Toccata
4. Only one piece per person per style
5. Leave the link in the comment below
6. It cannot be a transcription (obviously).

The deadline of the contest will be on the 22/12, 1400 hours (GMT)

The songs submitted must be as hard/equal in difficulty to the songs below:

Nightmare Scherzo (Piano Sonata no. 1 mov. 2) by Mason K. Ichida

Toccata or "Rush Hour", from Cityscape, movement 1, by kenneth.r.t.

ChrisHill - Etude no. 4 in F-Sharp Minor, "Inflexion"

Challenges of the "week" will be in the comment below, soon to be posted. I sincerely apologize for using my score as a challenge for the competition, however there seems to be a lack of hard original fugues that I think would be a good standard for the competition. I did comb through listening to a few pages worth of original fugues, and toccatas were even harder to find.

The winner of the previous week was ChrisHill, a hearty congratulations! For those who are able to obtain above 4.5 from me in this competition, his/her score will be posted as above for the next week. The score with the highest rating for the competition will win the competition!
