Hello there! I was wondering about what everyone's range was. I am so self conscious that I have a tiny range. I also find that for big concerts where we play 10-12 pieces I can barely hit high notes at the end. I was looking for tips on how to expand range and build better endurance. Anything will help! 

I want to make a piece for a low brass quartet but don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

I've been charting out scores on Muescore for several months now, and i have noticed that the horns are so dang quiet! You can never here them, as apposed to how the actually sound in other sound founts. It can be very frustrating, because i need horns to be loud on parts where they are supposed to be and you can barely here them!

Hey guys! This is a new ensemble I created a few days ago and we have a serious woodwind deficit as of now... we have three total woodwind players, compared to 7 violins and 14 synths.
I've posted this in a few other MuseScore groups in hopes of attracting a bit more attention to it, and it's worked so far! Here's the rest of the original post.

I'm creating an online  orchestra dedicated to performing the works of young composers and  putting the videos on YouTube. In the process, composers will get  feedback from performers, performers will get more experience playing in  different settings, and both will form connections that will be  extremely useful (hopefully) in the music industry long-term! It's also a  great chance for publicity.
Currently, I'm looking for performers, composers, and editors alike willing to help make this happen.

In anticipation of a few questions, here's an FAQ.
How will you coordinate this?
Our  current plan is to have one major piece every two months. Pieces will  be member-submitted and member-selected. Parts, an MP3 of the piece  being performed by synth instruments, and a metronome MP3 will be sent  out. Members will have these two months to work up their part(s) and  record themselves playing in time with the metronome that was sent. All  members will submit their parts to an official email for the orchestra,  which will be made at a later date. Editors will then take over and edit  the tracks together.
It will then be posted to an official YCOO YouTube channel with credits to the composer and performers in the description.

What instruments can join?
Currently,  standard orchestra and wind ensemble instruments. Non-standard  instruments may be accepted, but should not expect a part in every major  piece. Right now, we especially need woodwinds, specifically on flute/picc, saxophone, clarinet, and bassoon. We'd also love more low strings, like string bass and cello. But we won't turn you away if you already play an instrument we have lots of. The more, the merrier!

What kind of music will be played?
Orchestral  music, wind ensemble music, chamber music, solos. We currently plan to  only do original music by young composers but may be open to doing  covers once the group has been established.

Chamber music and solos? How will that work?
While  the major projects will happen every other month, members will be  allowed to arrange small ensembles. Chamber ensembles and solos will be  entirely member-run: members will choose a piece, form a small ensemble,  send out parts on their own, come up with their own deadlines, and edit  the audio and video on their own. Only when the product is complete  will it be sent up to us admins to publish it on the YouTube channel.

Is there an audition required?
No.  However, if you submit a track of low quality, it may not be used. (Low  quality can be defined as: badly out of tune, very bad audio quality,  not with the metronome, or played with a bunch of mistakes.)

Video? Will we have to submit videos of ourselves?
No. Submitting videos of yourself playing is entirely optional.

Do you have to play in every major piece?
Nope. We won't kick you out for inactivity.

Can we have a thread where people post all of the different things about how to play woodwinds, starting with the basics of how the sound is produced and how the keys work, and going to various techniques such as fluttertonguing and other things? I think it would be a help for composers who want to write for woodwinds but don't play them (such as myself). I know the basics from Orchestration by Samuel Adler, but it would be nice to have them explained from actual wind players.

Howdy, I'm new here so heres something about me. I have been playing horn for around three years. Its not the only brass instrument I play, but it is superior to the rest. I am about to go in to college as a Music major. Thats me, for the most part. since I have only been playing horn for three years, I am far from knowing everything. So I would love to hear any tips, tricks, or facts about horn, I'm all ears. Anyway, thats me.

I was requested a brass quartet arrangement for a Stardew Valley song (the arrangement is here : https://musescore.com/user/5174461/scores/3443856). However, I know close to nothing about theses instruments. I asked the "requester" (is that a word ?) for some feedback but it's been something like a month so I'm not sure I'm gonna get any... I'd still like to finish this arrangement properly so here I am seeking feedback :)

I've already been searching the web for advices but I'm not sure theses replace real experience with the instrument.

Some of my worries / concerns :
Some things may be weird, unplayable, and so on. The song is very rhythmic focused, so I think it's important every player can play his/her part very accurately, or the whole thing will
feel unstable - which is why it's not a good thing if some part are weird to play (some percussions would remove this concern, but it wouldn't be a brass quartet arrangement then)

More precisely :
- if there's not enough time to breath
- if a part isn't in the good range for the instrument (too high / too low / makes thing too difficult)
- if a part is just too quick to be played accurately
- if a part is too tiring for the player
- if a part is assigned to the wrong instrument (another instrument would play the part more easily)

In particular :
- measure 5-9 : not sure whether tuba or trombone has the easiest time for this part. It seems to be more in tuba's range but can definitely be played a bit higher if needed.
- measure 10-17 : same as above for tuba/trombone (for both parts). Also I removed a lot of stuff from the bass line (played by trombone) in order to make it more playable, but maybe that's not enough or is not necessary
- measure 18+ for trumpet : is that even remotely playable for trumpets ? Is it too tiring on the long run ? (i.e. I should switch the trumpets often, or even shorten the whole thing because it repeats a lot in the original song)
- measures 26-33 for tuba : is that too quick ?
