Help With Identifying Age of Violin?

Hey all!

I play viola, but today I purchased a violin off of a mutual friend because I also wan't to start learning violin as well.

The person I purchased it off of said she played it in high school, and it shows. It has numerous scratches, but it has a really nice tone.

Anyways, the label inside of it looks something like this:

Karl Knilling
Handmade in Germany
No. 52615
8F

Any help would be very appreciated!

My string ensemble

I'm a high school violinist and I am in a small string ensemble (one cello and two violins - possibly three violins/one viola next year when new people come in) and I was wondering if someone could recommend some pieces. Currently we're doing Spring from The Four Seasons.

New Bari Sax Player

I switched to bari about a month ago and I'm in marching band right now so I've already gotten used to most things about the bari but I still am having trouble with phrasing and just playing longer. Is there anyone who can help? Also does anyone have any other tips and tricks about other parts of playing it?

More Cymbal Sounds

I don't know about other people who use MDL but I think it would be great if cymbals had more options than just the six that are there. Some good ones would be:
- Crash chokes
- Hi Hat
- Tap chokes
- Sizzle sucks (also called splash chokes, sizz-ucks)
- Clicks

Examples of most of these are demonstrated in these videos:

Is there any chance that we can get more cymbal sounds in future updates of MDL?

Saxophone Investments

Hello! I've been playing Tenor Saxophone for 5 years now and I am curious about a good investment. I currently have an Allora Intermediate Series Tenor and I would like to have a more permanent investment saxophone.
Another topic I would like to know more about is a good Soprano Saxophone investment since if you don't buy a good one, repairs can get quite expensive!

Percussion Advice

Hi all!

I am currently working on a project that sounds more like a soundtrack than a classical piece, and I have no experience with percussion instruments. Does anyone know of a good resource to familiarize myself with the different percussion instruments and their uses in an orchestra, especially as it related to soundtrack music? I know what I want the percussion in the score to sound like but I do not know the best instruments to use to make those sounds.

Any help is appreciated!
