I found the secret to sounding good in jazz solos (on vibes) (in minor keys)

So, let's take the minor scale (D, in this example)
D E F G A B♭ C D
Now, let's remove the second and sixth degrees.
Why have we done this? Well, now that those two notes are gone, we have removed all nasty-sounding intervals from the scale. Every note is at least a whole step apart, and there is no tritone! Yay! You now have a completely safe and boring solo!

What's that? You don't want to sound safe, boring, or (to be honest) good? 

Well, look no further than the Double Harmonic Major Scale!
It's... interesting. Just look.

It's honestly a mess, and don't even try to build a chord progression with it. *shudders* I've tried.
