Musescore Virtual Orchestra Group

142 discussions • 69 scores • 410 members

This is a group where we work together, decide on compositions to perform and collectively, create beautiful music.
Everything we undertake will be huge, it will require the help of everyone! The more active members and participants, the grander it will be. Much like Eric Witacres's Virtual Choir, we will be compiling recordings of different groups of people, some ensembles small and others much more grand, into one track and presenting it to Musescore, Youtube, and other Social Media outlets to help spread the word about the MVO.

Creativity is key here and we will need everyone working together to make this orchestra come to life!

Please do not post any unrelated music! This includes:
-compositions AND arrangements that we have not performed
-compositions AND arrangements that we have no intent of performing
-pretty much anything that hasn't been explicitly OK'd in the most current discussions (even if you have something you'd like us to try, post a link to the score in a new/related discussion and ask everyone's opinion first!)

How to sign up: Fill in the form which is found at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfSZ5cFaSJhxihllptOsSUyZpNgTdigvppIY1TspCySRn0axw/viewform . Then you can just start to participate!

My vision:

I see this competition being a nation wide event that gathers all composers of all ages and of all different areas of experience together. Together to compete for many prizes such as money, scholarships, tickets to special events, etc.

A Request:

I want you guys to help me achieve this dream. I really have a desire for us to achieve this together as a community! A Musescore Community! I think we can do this and if you think we can too then we should join forces and EPICLY unite!

How:

How? I have no clue. Making this competition known and getting money from donors to fund this project is an EPIC start!

All you need to do:

All you need to do is ONE or MORE of these things!
-Join the competitions as a participant or judge
-Advertise this competition through multiple sources
-Share your music with the world
-Communicate with others in this movement
-Be willing to volunteer for leadership opportunities and maybe even be one of the main contributors to this movement

Im counting on YOU to be Epic enough to step up to this challenge. How epic are you? I think your epic to me! Lets do this!! :D

Orchestral Saxophone

3 discussions • 6 scores • 159 members

“It cries, sighs and dreams. It possesses a crescendo and can gradually diminish until it is only an echo of an echo. I know of no other instrument that possesses this particular capacity to reach the outer limits of audible sound.”
-Hector Berlioz
The saxophone has great potential, but is often shunned. Here we can discuss how weave the saxophone into the orchestra with the maximun effectiveness.

Competitions, Collaboration, and Creations!

9 discussions • 31 scores • 52 members

Welcome to the Musescore Competitions, Collaborations, and Creations group, naturally controlled by RSA, as all things should be.

This group is what is says on the tin, really: Compete, collaborate, and create, but here's a few more detail

COMPETE: I will run competitions occasionally, but not very often, as I can be very busy at times.
If you are involved in a competition in any way, and would like to get more people to join, please feel free to advertise your competition groups here.

COLLABORATE: This can be as simple as asking for advice on your compositions, or as much as looking for someone to work on a piece together with, or even asking for someone to score a YouTube video or short movie. Whatever you like, really.

CREATE: Share you compositions, arrangements, and scores. If you wrote it, post it. If you arranged it, post it. If you produced it, post it! We are open here!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A FEW BORING RULES
- No vulgar language.
- Be nice. No mean criticism, only constructive and helpful advice.
- No racism, sexism, homophobia etc.
- No spamming. I don't want to wake up with 900000 messages every day.

So, enjoy yourselves! Create, compete, and collaborate. Wrong way around.

Compete, collaborate, create.
Better.

- Joe

Choral Composition Club

1 discussion • 15 scores • 9 members

Welcome to the Choral Composer's Club, where we create music of all sorts for choral settings (SATB, SSA, TTBB, etc.!) This includes but is not limited to original choral compositions, choral compositions with orchestra or other instruments, arrangements of instrumental pieces for choir, or folk songs arranged for choir.

Hopefully we can grow together as a community and flourish in our choral endeavors!

Arrangers for Full/Concert Orchestra

0 discussions • 6 scores • 6 members

Arrange/Transcribe songs for Full Orchestra and upload them here. It can be any song. Must be full orchestra, not just string orchestra.

Completely Original Compositions

5 discussions • 12 scores • 6 members

I have a rule for my account: all of my work must be original. I can add onto things I find on musescore, but I do not transcribe and upload anyone else's work.
Because of that, I wanted to create a group for people to submit their original work, ask questions, request advice, and so on.

Community-Based Composition Competition

1 discussion • 0 scores • 4 members

Welcome to Community-Based Composition Competition, where each month, a simple theme or other composing limitation is given, and everyone is invited to write/arrange a piece according to the month’s theme/limitation.

General Rules:
- Do not spam discussions, comments, or scores. (See below for adding scores to the group)
- Keep at least some discussions and comments on topic. (Keep all scores related to the competition)
- Be respectful of everyone. (This includes using kid-friendly language)

How the Competition Works:
- At the beginning of each month, the winner of the last month’s competition (if any) will decide on a theme/limitation and share it with an admin. The admin will then post it as the official theme/limitation for the month.
- Then, until voting begins in approximately the last seven days of the month, anyone can add their scores for the month. One score is recommended per month, but you can add more. To add a score, please put a note in the title of the upload saying that it’s for the competition. If you don’t, it will likely be deleted.
- For approximately the last seven days of the month, an admin will post a form for voting. Feel free to vote, even if you did not upload a score for the month. Once the next month starts, an admin will announce the winner. Voting may be delayed if there are not enough participants.
