Suggestion for scores (And groups)?

1. A user can pin a comment on his/her’s score.
This would be really useful in my opinion. It would be just like how you can on YouTube. But, it would be really helpful, because sometimes I just want to put a notice, or info on my song without it being in the description. Because not everyone reads the description, but I feel like there is a better chance that someone would see the first comment. Anyone agree?

2. A admin/admins can pin discussions in their groups.
This would be extremely useful. I own a competition group with @LegendIan, and it would be really useful if we could pin discussions. It would be extremely great if we could pin up to 5 discussions too. Anyone agree?

Copyright Format on Front Page

How do I get the copyright to format so that if it is too large for one line, it goes to 2nd and 3rd lines. Right now I have a copy right that is probably 3 lines long.  So when I put it in the Score Properties Copyright tag, it goes all on one line and off the page.  Is there a way to get it stay within the margins and go to several lines?

Competition No.2 - ARRANGEMENT CONTEST!

Okay, our next competition is finally here, and this time it is an arrangement contest! :D

- It is open to all members of this group (so join now if you haven't yet!)
- Contestants must submit an original arrangement/variation of the first movement of Vivaldi's "Spring" (La Primavera)
- Composition must be for one to five instruments
- All genres and styles are accepted
- The total length of the submission must be between one and five minutes
- All entries must be received by February 5th, 2019
- Voting will be performed by the general Musescore community after February 5th and will be available for at least 24 hours

To prevent cheating and guarantee originality, all submissions will be gathered in a dedicated group, which will be opened on February 1st, 2019. Do not upload your composition entry before then!

A few helpful suggestions:
- Feel free to focus on a single part of the song and don't worry about creating a complete and accurate representation of the original.
- Creatively interpret the original melody and add your own harmony for a interesting arrangement.
- Unique compositions will be rewarded with votes, so be radical with your arrangement!
- The original solo line along with the two harmony lines is available here; feel free to refer to it.

Sending files to YouTube

Problem sending files to YouTube

• 16 jan. 2019
I recently tried to use the "Send to YouTube" feature to create a video.  However, only the first 15 seconds or so of the audio plays and the composition never appears on the screen.  Here is a link to my video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYi7gp3dvU8

Anyone else experienced this problem?

I have the same problem, since I use Musescore 3.0.1 (today). Yesterday I sent some music with version 2 without any problem. So I will reinstall Musescore 2 (if I still can find it somewhere) and try again.

In the mean time I have installed Musescore 2.3.2 again and send the same music again to YouTube. The result is amazing. See these links:

So there must be something wrong in the Musescore 3 version, I think.

I of course don't know what will happen with files, that were created with the 3 version, because I still don't have them. Therefor I will continue to work with 2.3.2 till the developers have solved the problem.

Adaptations for visually impaired users

Background to this request: I spend a lot (really a lot) of time entering notation to musescore in order to create modified notation that is accessible to my pupil who has a visual impairment and this has been very successful (thanks muse score!) but is very time-consuming. I have saved the settings for the sizings and spacings of the stave and text but would like to be able to:

1. Set up as default a customised system of coloured note heads so that every time I enter a C it comes up as red, D as brown etc. (Currently I have to select all the Cs and change colour via the inspector tool for ever note of music I enter in every piece).

2. A sophisticated scanning option for sheet music (I have tried the scanning PDF option with varied success) so that any standard notation can be converted to an editable form to which I can then apply custom settings that make the notation accessible for my pupil.

Thanks

Possible to convert a V3 score back to V2?

I installed V3 amd worked out a complete score with 5 instruments.  PC crashed.  Afterwards, V3 not working properly.  Re-installed V2 but now that score is inaccessible.  Any way to convert it back to V2?  (Remember, now I cannot use V3 in this process).

If there is a way onlline to do it, I uploaded the V3 score today (1/17) as 'Slowpoke V3' under my account.

Any help much appreciated.

Android MuseScore app fails to open MuseScore files

The MuseScore app (with the integrated Songbook functionality) fails to open MuseScore files (e.g. on the file system or as e-mail attachments). The MuseScore app is simply not suggested as an app to open a .mscz file with.

Any other users having issues with this?

The good old MuseScore Songbook app (not available anymore for new users) doesn't have any problems with that on my Android devices.

New Piano Roll Feature on the musescore.com

Today marks the release of MuseScore Piano Roll. Piano Roll is a popular and convenient method to display piano notation in a way that not only simplifies learning a new piece for novice musicians who lack a teacher, it also beautifully visualizes each score.

(Video captured from https://musescore.com/classicman/scores/33715 )

Give it a try by simply clicking on the Piano Roll icon now available on all solo piano scores. Be sure to tell us what you think in Improving MuseScore.com!

All of these improvements are designed to not only make MuseScore.com the most valuable resource online for sharing and discovering great musical works but for learning them as well.

We hope you’ll be as excited about this new feature as we were to create it for you, and as always we look forward to your feedback.

This is just the first of an exciting series of updates and releases for MuseScore PianoRoll; we're already hard at work on improving the experience!

Suggestions for Groups

Hello! So I've just got some suggestions (and bugs that need to be fixed) that maybe you could take into consideration about groups on this site?

1. Blocked users are still able to join your groups
When I block someone, I don't want them in my groups. I mean, technically I could make the group moderated or invite only, but it'll still be a lot more convenient if I didn't have to repeatedly deny a user membership (which has happened several times in the past with trolls/plagiarizers/spammers)

2. Admins can remove the group owner as admin, and group owners can remove themselves as admins
I guess the group owners can technically choose that they don't want to be admins anymore, but accidental removal of the owner by an admin has happened. I'm guessing this is a bug?

3. Admins should be able to kick users without having to find them in the members list
When you have to scroll through 500+ people just to find one user you want to kick, it's kinda annoying :P. And I have had to do this...more than once. Or maybe you should be able to have a search bar in the members section so admins can just type in their username and have them pop up without having to scroll through the entire thing. Same goes for making a user a new admin of the group.

4. Moderated groups - owners get notifications for each join request AND when the user "joins the group" - in other words, when the request is approved
I mean, the join request notification is fine, but it's a bit annoying when I get a notification right after I myself let a user into my group. I think the notification thing is great for open or even invite only groups, though.

5. Maybe groups could have a thing where owners/admins can pin discussions?
Sometimes really interesting discussions get lost after a really short time, especially if the group is really active. It would also be nice if someone really wanted to highlight something in the group but didn't want to make the group description too long or cluttered.

6. Ability to "follow" discussions?
Some discussions are really interesting. But sometimes, we aren't the creators of these discussions, so we don't know when it gets updated (and have to repeatedly check it for more comments). I think following discussions will be a cool and convenient feature.

Thanks!! :D

Welcome!

Welcome to the group for students in Mastering MuseScore: Complete Online Course!  The purpose of this group is to allow students in the course to share their scores and get feedback from each other.

I have made the group public so you don't have to be an enrolled student to check it out, but of course, you won't have access to all the great videos and other resources that come with the course.  If you want to learn more about the course, please visit https://school.masteringmusescore.com/p/complete
