About Course
If you're curious about fingerstyle guitar but aren't sure where to begin, you can call off the hunt. This guitar video course will take you from the very beginning with basic technique all the way through different techniques like block chord style, arpeggios, Travis picking, classical style, and more. Before you know it, you'll be able to play along with fingerstyle favorites like "Dust in the Wind" (Kansas), "More Than Words" (Extreme), "Country Roads" (John Denver), "Blackbird" (The Beatles), and others.
After getting your feet wet (hand position, plucking motions, notation, simple examples) in Fingerstyle Basics, you'll begin to expand your horizons with Acoustic Fingerpicking Styles, touching on arpeggios, block chord styles, and more. In Travis Picking, you'll learn the ubiquitous technique that originated with country legend Merle Travis and has been used and adapted by countless others like Chet Atkins, Paul Simon, and the Beatles, to name a few.
In 12-String Guitar, you'll learn a few of the finer points about applying the fingerstyle technique to this unique instrument and see why players like John Denver and Roger McQuinn (The Byrds) heavily favored this sound. To close out the lesson, you'll get a solid introduction to classical guitar with three lessons dedicated solely to this popular and rewarding style.
By the time you're through with the series, you'll feel completely at home with the fingerstyle approach and will be well on your way to adapting the technique and making it your own.
