About Course

Always wanted to play slide guitar but weren't sure where to start? You start here! In this 13-lesson slide guitar video course, you'll learn all you need to know to sound like a seasoned slide player fast. Spanning from lessons designed for first-time slide-wearers to more advanced ideas like mimicking open E Derek Truck or Duane Allman licks in standard tuning, this series contains a bounty of information, tips, tricks, and plenty of awesome-sounding licks and riffs that will serve you well for years to come! These slide guitar videos are designed for the intermediate player looking to get into slide for the first time or simply improve and expand their current slide skills.

Andy Aledort starts off with a lesson aimed at the first-time slide player, emphasizing the crucial points about intonation (i.e., positioning the slide directly over the fret), muting (in both hands) to keep things clean, guitar setup (string action and gauges), tonal considerations, and more. Then GIT instructor Lenny Widegren will get you started with some basic slide rock licks that will put your newfound skills to use.

Next, Greg Koch and Andy Aledort both address the various issues related to playing slide in standard tuning, which can be a common occurrence if you gig often and don't want to (or have the luxury) bring a second guitar dedicated to slide only. Andy continues on with several more lessons dedicated to the three most common slide tunings (open A, open G, and open E), demonstrating the most prevalent chords, scales, licks, and riffs for each.

There's much more to come as well, including lessons from Stuart Ziff (how to turn a lick into a motif that can be used across a 12-bar blues), Joe Bonamassa (two different lessons on muting, vibrato, picking, mixing fretted notes, etc.), and Greg Koch (three lessons on the styles of Derek Trucks, Duane Allman, and Earl Hooker)!

If you've struggled with slide before or have never tried it but always wanted to, you need to check out this slide guitar course. It's your gateway to the world of slide greatness!
