First Encounter

For Symphony Orchestra

Uploaded on Oct 27, 2016

This piece was made using a synthetic (alien) scale. It's meant to sound dooming and exotic, as every tone in this scale has a tritone partner. Link for the audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-p0n2FAGk0s

I recently submitted this piece to a composing competition, which is why I changed the name... ;)

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Erie and ominous. It feels like something straight out of Star Trek.
I'm so glad because my inspiration was star trek! 🖖
Lol! =D It was really creepy when it had 666 views! :O
how about sci fi Lego animation? Just a thought.
I love Lego animations! =D

If you (or someone you know) wanted to work on something, I'd definitely welcome that! =D
ok I'll keep that under my hat for now. Thanks
Great! Sounds really threatening! Someone should make a film to match!
Brilliant, like most of your compositions. Inevitably, it reminds me of Danny Elfman's "Mars Attacks!" score.
I like it!
I also appreciate that you wrote in enough rests for the clarinetists to switch from Bb to A and back again (I wouldn't want to read 6 sharps with sextuplets lol that would ruin my day)
Well I must have done that by accident! ;) =D
Beware of the aliens' invasion!!
Excellent work!
And that my friends is why you should follow Elliot Butler.
It's amazing. I like all. Congratulations!.
This is amazing!!!! I love the "explosive" ending and the cover is super cool also. This piece should totally be in an awesome movie!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
for some reason the F Horns sound like pianos \(o_o\) but its really good other than that
Yeah. That would be because you didn't select the audio sources. =D

Thank you though! I really appreciate it!
Incredible! I love the explosive ending! (Explosive base drum roll maybe?) For a piece like this maybe a suspended cymbal will add to the effect? (If you're still adding stuff :P)
Thank you! I actually in a more recent version of this piece do have the percussion all rolling on their instruments on the last chord. (If that makes any sense lol)... Thanks very much for your comment!
Cool! And yes, I understand what you mean by rolling :)
Ahhh...super late question but for the muted trumpet, I noticed that the playback is much more realistic than what I have. I'm using a modified version of the Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra but it doesn't include a muted trumpet sound font. Where did you get the trumpet mute playback? Thank you for your time!
I'm so sorry for the late response!!!!

The muted trumpet comes from General User. It's on the MuseScore soundfont list, by S. Christian Collins.
I can totally see the image. Very well done. How did you make the cover?
Thank you very much!

It's a really cool and useful tool! =)
Ooh cool cover picture thing! The music has the feeling of a superior species coming down here just to laugh at us.
Strong dissonant introduction. Good job overall :)
Thank you! The species is actually our equal, and we destroyed them lol :-D
Ah, haha :) I suppose the D section represents the clash between the two? Sounds much like it.
Excellent use of flats to obtain the menacing and demeaning sound. Great work!
Wow, and the timpani... Your talents for these mysterious pieces is great. I listened to your journey to mar a couple of months back, and was floored. On a side note... You and your brother must like Chuck Norris...
Thank you very much! And the whole Chuck Norris is a joke... We put him in the tags just cuz... ;P
