Sorry I've been gone so long! I promise I'll get back to making these challenges now :)
Your task this time is to write 100 measures of music, for as many instruments as you like, in ten minutes (as usual). No other restrictions apply.
The deadline is the 31st of August. Good luck!!
Ok. Since challenge 5 hasn't come out, I will make it myself. You have until July 12 to finish it. You need to compose a song using a solo violin in ten minutes. It also needs to have these stats. (80 BPM, 3/4 time, C major/A minor, 16 measures or less, a dynamic change) Good luck with this. I will enter this challenge and the winner will get a song dedicated to them. =)
Sadly we only had four people submit this time, but it's okay because the quality of the four submissions that were handed in was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!
I'll try not to give anything away, but I'll just say this: the winner of this round scored pretty close to a perfect 100.
Oh alright, I'll let you see who it is... https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B67os6PF1eOQVUxpREZtZzlpUkU
And also, since this round required using soundfonts, I'm not going to hand out HQ Audio to the winner, simply because I think their piece already had a wonderful sound.
Next round coming soon!
Alrighty! This round is thanks to AOGS_1646, who suggested the idea in the first place. If you want to come up with an idea for a future round, do it here: https://musescore.com/groups/10minutechallenge/discuss/3865616
Now, down to business...
Your task this week is to write a piece, in 10 minutes, but also use a soundfont.
I have compiled a folder of all my favourite soundfonts, which you can find here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B67os6PF1eOQTzlwcENFX0dQelU
If you haven't used a soundfont before, or don't know how to, there's a page with instructions here: https://musescore.org/en/node/50721
The deadline is the 22nd of May. Good luck!
Well done to the 5 of you who entered this time, I know it was a pretty hard task.
Unfortunately some of you didn't enter your scores in the group, so I had to go about finding them, but I think I got all of them in the end.
Anyhow, here's the results: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B67os6PF1eOQeFNqX1E4ang2WnM
Next round coming soon - see you then!
SO we have a new theme for this challenge, thanks to the people making suggestions here: https://musescore.com/groups/10minutechallenge/discuss/3865616
This round, instead of composing for 10 minutes, you'll compose for over half an hour. However, you'll get to do it in 3 slots.
First off, set the timer for 1 minute. Try to write as much of a theme as possible within those 60 seconds. Then you can have a rest for a couple of minutes (no more!!)
Insert a double barline where you got up to in that one minute. Set a timer for 10 minutes, and try to develop the theme further. Then rest for a few more minutes.
Insert a second double barline where you finished after the 10 minute sitting. Then, set the timer for 20 minutes and try to write even more on the same theme, but with more instruments, more harmonies, and more complexity.
The theme this time is "Relaxing" - so keep it simple! There will be an extra 10 points awarded for the Most Relaxing Piece.
Finally, the deadline is the 15th of May.
Great job this round, everyone! We saw another bunch of great pieces, especially some really unique ones - so nicely done!

Congrats to our winner!
I will email you a copy of your HQ Audio very soon.
See ya next round people!
The rules for the challenges are pretty simple, in fact, there's only three of them...
1.) You must write your entry piece in 10 minutes or less.
2.) You must enter your piece in the group.
3.) You must put #10minutechallenge in the tags.
If you win a round, then you get to judge the next round. You also get a HQ audio of your piece from me :D
So, I know I said that this round would end on the 3rd, but I got really impatient and just wanted to judge the entries already :D
If you have a piece that you were going to enter in this round but didn't, feel free to enter it in the next round!
Anyway, here are the scores: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B67os6PF1eOQRUxoU003VDlsVXM
Congratulations lizzapie for winning the first round! I am currently working on a HQ Audio of your piece, and I will email it to you as soon as I finish. Your other prize is that, if you want, you can help judge the next round.
Speaking of which, I'll try to have the next round up by tomorrow. Great job everyone!
Challenge 1 starts today, and will end on the 3rd of May. Enter if you're interested!
