Ocean's Lullaby - [HQ Audio, Live Vocals]

5 parts6 pages01:592 months ago246 views
Piccolo, Violin, Viola, Cello, Contrabass
This was a personal project I completed over the summer, to go with my novel in progress, Blood of the Covenant. Vocals are by me - I AM NOT A TRAINED SINGER and I'm aware my voice isn't perfect. Please keep comments related to the music and not the performance. Lyrics: The winds the waves are howling, the men keep watch all night, Yet come the morn they're drowning, as dragons take their flight. The tides will rise, their children cry, the battle now is nigh, All life must die, the crimson sky bleeds out and moon soars high. The winds the waves are howling, the men keep watch all night Yet come the morn they're drowning, as dragons take their flight. As always, any comments are welcome!

Star Spangled Banner (Prelude and Anthem for Orchestra and Choir)

I never thought I would be able to make a score for an orchestra and choir until now. I was really inspired by the idea of the Star Spangled Banner that I had to make my own extended version. It took a lot of time to make this, especially since I had college classes in between sessions. Leave some comments as you wish. This is my first official attempt at an orchestral arrangement. I experimented a lot with this score, including polyphony, dissonance (specifically in the prelude), and sounds from different instruments blend together if this were to be performed live in a concert hall.

Reflection – Live Recording

I wrote and recorded this this afternoon, hope you like it. This is kinda a personal piece, I wrote as I contemplated life. It's kind of in response to the recent horrific shooting in Christchurch last Friday, where almost 50 defenceless people were killed. John 14:1-31 (I don't think my Italian performance directions were written correctly) (PS, I'm uploading a piano arrangement of some great classical symphonies I've spent the last few weeks working on soon for those who are interested)

Sage's Hymn - [HQ Audio]

12 parts15 pages03:362 months ago286 views
Oboe, Cello, Harp, Strings(5), Percussion(4)
The melody first stated by the cello was something I began humming to myself and of course couldn't get out of my head. As the piece grew it was also inspired by a scene in the fantasy novel I'm writing involving the dragon sages. I wrote the countermelody stated by the oboe only as a background, but the more I heard it the more I liked it, so it ended up having an equal role as a solo instrument. The audio was mixed using samples in Mixcraft 8. Any comments are welcome!

I can't wait for it to be spring :D Hope you enjoy this jig! This is the sketch I made before completing the song in Logic (the audio you hear), so the sheet music doesn't contain all the instruments playing. The percussion is not written out here because musescore does not have all the correct drums/etc. HQ sound here: https://youtu.be/CcGERHpBtnU (The audio scroll is one measure off right now but I will fix it later.)

I was inspired to write this one night as I was snowed in, staring at the ice crystals raining down. Pretty straightforward; there are some optional sound effects I included in the audio I produced, but don't need to be included were this piece to be performed live. Follow me on Soundcloud, I usually post my finished tracks there first before I get around to making the score! https://soundcloud.com/jadeghost Scored for Chamber Orchestra (namely string orchestra, piano, celesta, percussion, and choir). Audio Produced in Mixcraft 8.

Beyond the Celestial Sea

Percussion(18), Strings
(This piece is still a work in progress!!!) "Beyond the Celestial Sea" is basically me turning my vibraphone solo, "Nocturnal Waves", into a percussion ensemble piece, but I renamed it because I feel like it tells a whole new story. "Beyond the Celestial Sea" is about a duo of travelers who take a journey out into the Celestial Sea. With the piece being split into two movements, the diurnal and the nocturnal, the travelers experience the ocean in two different ways. In the daytime, the ocean is more energetic; there are high waves, a bright Sun, and puffy white clouds in the sky. In the nighttime, a fog covers the water, but once the fog clears, the beautiful sight of the stars and moonlight refelcting against the waves of the sea leave the travelers starstruck (pun intended). In the end, however, they end up back where they started, even though they sailed in a straight line. With this being my first full-blown percussion ensemble piece, there are BOUND to be mistakes and places that could sound better. As I work on perfecting this piece, if you have any feedback, I would greatly appreciate it; it will help me out greatly.

Scored for Chamber Orchestra, Audio produced in Mixcraft 8. This idea just came to me very late one night, and I finished the entire piece in the span of about 12 hours (that evening, and the following morning). I composed the piano part first, and everything else came later. I didn't intend for the two melodies to interlock so perfectly, but they do, so I kept it. Any comments are welcomed!
