Solace Workshop - Project Avant Guard - Hiring Volunteers!

Greetings everyone!

The nonprofit gaming organization "Solace Workshop" that I am a part of is looking to refill one of our adjunct composer/sound engineer positions for our developing game, codenamed "Project Avant Guard". It is a turn-based strategy war game based off of our old favorite Steam game March of War. Most of us on SW are dedicated players of this game and we're hoping to create one ourselves.
March of War Gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxJNgJIHnmA

As the lead composer for the music/sound department of this project, I've been commissioned to compile a soundtrack album along with the team for this game. However, we are still looking for people who would like to co-op on this project. As an adjunct composer and sound engineer, you'll be remastering the tracks made into a more real-life track using any sound libraries you have, and also composing tracks when needed.

Here is our Soundcloud portfolio of the completed tracks we have. We have over 30 tracks finished, but 9 remastered. https://soundcloud.com/user-487285203/sets/project-avant-guard-original-1
Here is our temporary website - https://solaceworkshop.wixsite.com/avantguard

Our only requirements:
1. Must have 2 or more years of experience in composing film/game music.
2. Must have a portfolio with tracks to listen to or read. (Musescore profiles work, but if you have a soundcloud mp3 or wav file to listen to, we would like to see that as well).
3. Must be 15 years or older.
4. Must have a sound library other than that of Musescore's. (The reason why require this is because we need someone who is able to remaster our tracks to sound more real).

**NOTE: THIS IS VOLUNTEER WORK. Any and all work is donated to the organization for the game. I am also subjected to this because I am not getting paid either. We ALL our volunteers at the organization**

This is a 2-3 year plan. If anyone is interested, let me know in the comments or by emailing me at codwawpro0822@gmail.com! We would love to have people from the Musescore community to join us!

ECC Announcement

Hey guys!

The Collaboration theme sounds like a great idea but it requires a group of people willing to communicate and get it to work. So, I'll continue doing different competitions until more members are active with them.

Current average of participants:
18

Goal average:
26

This is the goal I want this competition to hit. ECC #11 will begin this weekend (US Pacific time). Look forward to the new objectives and twist to composition rules. If you have any comments or any recommendations for this competition, you can speak up. Its encourage. Thank you everyone for being involved with all of this so far! :D

New group!

I have created a new group for people who want to learn the basics of music theory. The first couple units will probably be kinda tedious, but the readings and exercises are interactive and enjoyable. The format is almost a competition, further adding to the fun. Units 1-4 are now available! Check us out!

https://musescore.com/groups/basics-of-music

Since the discussions are kinda out of order, check the "about this group" area for the links to get to the specific units. :)

EEC #9 Judging Status

Hey guys!

I have some bad news. I only got 1/4 of the way done with the scoring. I apologize for the lack of time I said I have. This week was a crappy week to commit to so much. I have these options I want you guys to comment on and decide what should be done. This is for you guys so I want this competition to be ran the way you guys want it to. So, I can't judge them for a while so look at the options below and comment on what you want to do with this problem.

- Postpone the competition and move on to the next competition in a few days. This means that we can do EEC #10 and have that competition start a few days from today. Also, EEC #9 will still be judged but is going to be on wait till the results can be out (before EEC #10 results).

- Withdraw all submissions and cancel EEC #9. This will allow you to use the composition you submitted here and submit it in future competitions. The quote objective will be in place again if you want this option. This way, you don't lose all the work you've done on your submission.

- Volunteer to judge this competition in my place. This option is open but I don't think anyone will take this one so the first two are more likely.

Again, I apologize for this inconvenience. In the future, my planning and dates will be more accurate. Make sure to comment and see what we can do to solve this issue.

Thank you all for your patience! :D

Contest for composers

Dear friends..a challenge:
I am a Conductor of a School Symphonic Orchestra with choir and Concert Band with Choir...
I was wondering, if we could make a concert with some epic music, with your composers name on it...
I would like to have some peaces done by you (recorded) with credits to all composers...
Concerts will have these pieces:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W68Z6knfC9g
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czMoKNsCqro
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRe7C1FEZq4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4yJA26CeI8
Danny Elfman 2001 Suite (1 hour music) like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MGndIgeoDI ... but I need the full Suite.
This score will be voted by musician...
The winner will have 500 Euros, and all credits.
Note that: I need scores for Concert Band with Choir and Orchestra with Choir. A lot of low brass is needed.
The composer can add 1 or all the titles above (this is: he can make the arrangement for any or all the peaces) - the price of 500 Euros will be sent for the winner of the best arrangement of all.
Deadline will be April 1st 2017.
Please send the full score in Musescore format by email to: c.goncalves.dr@gmail.com along with your email name and Bank Account with IBAN on it.
Please add your name to the score for credits.
You are allow to send video (youtube) to be played and recorded with your music if you wish.
Also, with the email, you need to send authorization to be played with my band and/or Orchestra.

RELEASE OF THE RESULTS IS UNKNOWN DUE TO A HIGH NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS

The main categories was suggested by Joshua A.I (Judge #1)! Thanks Josh :D

3- Score has full audience attention and interest is kept throughout the piece .
4- Score has exceptional audience attention and interest.

NOTE!
Scores for each category will not be published to the public. Only TOTAL SCORE will be PUBLISHED to the PUBLIC!! This is only cause the scores aren't 100% accurate all the time so this will keep the privacy of the composers score and respect their abilities. I will be messaging each composer who entered a message with tips, personal comments, and anything else I feel I want to tell you.

What makes epic music epic?

Hey fellow group members! I am on a quest, and I would love to involve others into this quest. I want to discover the equation, the magic formula, the structure and reason on what exactly makes epic music epic. What makes it stir us and feel that power and story and invoke the emotions that they invoke? What makes them so useful for media such as movies, games, TV shows, etc.? Is there some undiscovered "epic music theory" out there?
Some of us here, like me, are composers and transcribers. I began transcribing this epic music to learn the very reason on why this music is the way it is. The more I transcribe, the more I hope to learn what the composers do to make it sound the way it is.

I know some of you out there think the same way and have gone on this quest, knowingly or unknowingly. So, have you discovered something? Have you seen a pattern that this genre of music follows? Discuss below.
