Epic Orchestral Music and Machine Learning

Hi,

My name is Luís Espírito Santo and I am a Portuguese engineering, AI researcher and composer. I'm starting this discussion because I'm currently trying to apply some machine learning models (deep learning/neural networks) to epic music composition within the project MuCaGEx for my master thesis.

I have contacted privately some people on this group previously, but since recently I  have been unable to send private message,s I decided to discuss it openly here. I would like to know if some of you would be available to help me with this task.
You could help me in three different ways:

1) I need to create a dataset of orchestral epic music that intends only to be used to train and study machine learning models, must not be used for human artistic manipulation and I'll ensure there is references for all the sources and authors in it. If you let me gather some of your original orchestral pieces you consider really epic, it would be really amazing. I believe this would be a very interesting contribution to the scientific community.

2) I would like to know what is your concept of "epic" music and know why you shared some of your works in this group dedicated to "Epic Orchestral Music". This may help me to understand what defines "epic music".

3) As soon as I have some results, would you be available to comment on those and/or to answer to a questionnaire about it?

My email is luis.a.santo@tecnico.ulisboa.pt if you want to contact me privately or more directly.

Thank you very much!

Best Regards and Happy New Year for you all

Quick Question?

Hi everyone! I'm new to the online thing, but I've been composing for a while. I was just wondering why I can't choose more than 14 staves on "Choose Instruments"? It's super annoying when the Symphony Orchestra option doesn't have percussion parts I need, Extra WW's or Brass, or a Piano part.

Help with Page Layout

Hello. I seem to be having trouble with my score. On the first page of my score, the staves are evenly spaced out. However, on my second page, everything is really condensed and I don't know how to fix it. Is there any way solve this issue? Feedback and advice is very much appreciated.

Help with Page Layout

Hello. I'm currently working on an orchestral arrangement of the Star Spangled Banner with a ton of instruments. However I seem to be having trouble with my score. On the first page of my score, the staves are evenly spaced out. But on my second page, everything is really condensed. In fact each stave for every instrument is at least 2 mm apart from each other and I don't know how to fix it. Is there any way solve this issue? Feedback and advice is very much appreciated.

CONCIERTO DE ARANJUEZ BY RODRIGO, FULL ORCHESTRA

https://musescore.com/user/29306356/scores/5324811
Joaquin Rodrigo composed Concierto de Aranjuez in Paris, rue Saint Jacques, 159, in 1939, for Regina Sainz de la maza. Allegro con spirito is the first movement from Concierto de Aranjuez.

This is a work of transcription and I made several adjustments to orchestration without regard to mood and character.

great hope that this work will inspire other classical guitar and orchestra works

Solace Workshop - Project Avant Guard - Hiring Volunteers!

Greetings everyone!

The nonprofit gaming organization "Solace Workshop" that I am a part of is looking to refill one of our adjunct composer/sound engineer positions for our developing game, codenamed "Project Avant Guard". It is a turn-based strategy war game based off of our old favorite Steam game March of War. Most of us on SW are dedicated players of this game and we're hoping to create one ourselves.
March of War Gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxJNgJIHnmA

As the lead composer for the music/sound department of this project, I've been commissioned to compile a soundtrack album along with the team for this game. However, we are still looking for people who would like to co-op on this project. As an adjunct composer and sound engineer, you'll be remastering the tracks made into a more real-life track using any sound libraries you have, and also composing tracks when needed.

Here is our Soundcloud portfolio of the completed tracks we have. We have over 30 tracks finished, but 9 remastered. https://soundcloud.com/user-487285203/sets/project-avant-guard-original-1
Here is our temporary website - https://solaceworkshop.wixsite.com/avantguard

Our only requirements:
1. Must have 2 or more years of experience in composing film/game music.
2. Must have a portfolio with tracks to listen to or read. (Musescore profiles work, but if you have a soundcloud mp3 or wav file to listen to, we would like to see that as well).
3. Must be 15 years or older.
4. Must have a sound library other than that of Musescore's. (The reason why require this is because we need someone who is able to remaster our tracks to sound more real).

**NOTE: THIS IS VOLUNTEER WORK. Any and all work is donated to the organization for the game. I am also subjected to this because I am not getting paid either. We ALL our volunteers at the organization**

This is a 2-3 year plan. If anyone is interested, let me know in the comments or by emailing me at codwawpro0822@gmail.com! We would love to have people from the Musescore community to join us!

ECC Announcement

Hey guys!

The Collaboration theme sounds like a great idea but it requires a group of people willing to communicate and get it to work. So, I'll continue doing different competitions until more members are active with them.

Current average of participants:
18

Goal average:
26

This is the goal I want this competition to hit. ECC #11 will begin this weekend (US Pacific time). Look forward to the new objectives and twist to composition rules. If you have any comments or any recommendations for this competition, you can speak up. Its encourage. Thank you everyone for being involved with all of this so far! :D

New group!

I have created a new group for people who want to learn the basics of music theory. The first couple units will probably be kinda tedious, but the readings and exercises are interactive and enjoyable. The format is almost a competition, further adding to the fun. Units 1-4 are now available! Check us out!

Since the discussions are kinda out of order, check the "about this group" area for the links to get to the specific units. :)
