EthanHarris Pro • Mar 23, 2019 I want this group to be more active but I am running out of ideas. Comments OatmealBlonde Good question :) I don't happen to have any immediate solutions, but I'll try to be more active personally. This really is a great group. EthanHarris OatmealBlonde Ok thank you. AureliaEmber EthanHarris Maybe we can try creating different variations of a simple song. Like for example, we can create a whole new different song from the melody of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" (this is just an example, lol). Just my idea, though ^_^ This might spark creativity, I guess... P.S. Sorry for not being quite active lately, have tons of school work :) EthanHarris AureliaEmber Interesting idea maybe we could... Also you're fine I know how that goes. EthanHarris AureliaEmber Maybe we could have one person create a 10 bar melody then we could have everyone else willing to create a variation on it. AureliaEmber EthanHarris Yeah, I like that idea. I should probably start. I'll create a discussion here about this and a melody soon :) EthanHarris ooh one more thing, make it a 5 bar melody. One of the challenges should be to end the 5 bar melody with another 5 bars. also we should add a harmony line. VegetarianCarrot EthanHarris Maybe a few more of those, I can give you a melody or three if you need more. It was fun. EthanHarris VegetarianCarrot Sounds good. We will most likely do something similar soon, but change it up a little bit to make it more fun. VegetarianCarrot EthanHarris yay AcousticRenegade Debates always make things more interesting! EthanHarris AcousticRenegade noted [REDACTED] Discord? [REDACTED] I can setup a huge group YouTube channel? But then would it be for free or money? (Could split it or donate?) EthanHarris VEVOreal But what would discord or youtube be for? How would that help us learn composition? Welcome to the group btw. [REDACTED] Discord to reach out to people or to keep track of chat (it can be organized better than Musescore. Also the channel can be to post what we have all made and let it be public, like you can have your playlist of what you made and so can others. Then you can get more feedback and be helping others who don’t know about musescore compose. EthanHarris VEVOreal Ok. If you want to start one you can. I don't use it often though. Maybe this discord will change my mind :P Go at it. [REDACTED] EthanHarris aye aye cap ekeller00 Thanks to those of you who have already made a musical contribution here, particularly Ethan and Aurelia. What survives in music is the result of real work, where every bar can make a difference. So let's just see how your contributions can become an inspiration for others, and let's concentrate on creating works of value to others.. EthanHarris Your welcome! also welcome to the group. I will try my best to contribute away! AureliaEmber ekeller00 You are most welcome. Thank you and welcome as well for joining this group. I hope to contribute more in the future :) ekeller00 ekeller00 Thank you for getting back to me. I appreciate hearing from you, and it might be useful to add another comment about inciting more interest in this type of exploratory venture -- which I find particularly interesting and worth while to pursue. First of all I think that this website is a bit peculiar in its traffic flow. I have my own website (erickeller.ch), and I now get more incoming "traffic" in just one week than I got for the entire year last year on this musescore website. Mind you, it's still just a trickle by world standards, and I am only at the end of my third year of music studies, so it is all proportional. But this website would be very discouraging if I didn't have a comparison site. Second, I think that a piece of music is quite a bit of a challenge. Music is very finicky, because when it's good, we go back and listen another time with more critical ears. At the end, very little is left standing -- just watch the highest-level competitions, like for example the Chopin competition or others of similar reputation. So, given those numerical and quality odds, who wants to venture in? My sense is this: by all means, do continue. If you continue, and in time set a few admission standards, this might well become a winner. Do not give up after just a few months. This is definitely worthwhile. I just discovered your initiative yesterday, and I would very much give it a try in my "Vivaldi Updated" series -- which will extend into the fall season, by the way. So I'm with you for the longer haul, and I look forward to making a contribution. Eric marcus1000 ekeller00 As an admin myself, I'd certainly hope to help and inspire as many of our fellow composers around with this group, and work towards producing more meaningful content and membership in this group! (Although my current real-life commitments would drastically affect my time here...) Anyways, welcome and thanks for having faith on this group!
