Big Johnny • Jul 19, 2013 I play bassoon, bass clarinet, and contrabass clarinet. Comments Whitehawk I've only just started playing bassoon. I used to play flute, but then was asked to switch because of the lack of bassoons. (There's only 5 0r 4 combined from all the bands 5th grade to 12th.) Big Johnny I've only been playing bassoon for about 5 months. I'm our schools very first, and only bassoon. Whitehawk Impressive. How's bassoon going? Big Johnny Quite well. I have all low octave notes, and up to a high F sharp above the staff line memorized. I'm already playing bassoon for the high school pep band, and jazz band (and I'm only going into eighth grade. saxman_cometh I've been playing Baritone Saxophone for about a year now. Big Johnny Nice! Bari is one of my favorite saxophones. saxman_cometh That is awesome. Big Johnny Here is a video of a contrabass sax. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYMWDbJC8wM iArrange I'm the only Bari Sax at our band. We don't have any tubas either. Big Johnny No tubas? I was the only low woodwind for 6th and 7th grade. saxman_cometh It sucks when your the only low instrument. I have two tubas to back me up in Wind Ensemble, a string bass and 4 trombones in Jazz band (not completely, though), and three tubas in Marching Band. saxman_cometh Musicore? Terran I'll have played tenor sax for a year at the start of the next semester. I'm in eighth grade and started on clarinet. There was an abundance of them, and I didn't want to stick to clarinet anyways. At the start of this year I was my school's only tenor player, and right after the start the first chair clarinetist picked up a tenor as a secondary for jazz band. 4 newbies have just picked up tenor and are still making the adjustment, but I'm the schools section leader. Big Johnny Cool. aston.a I played cornet in the band before, but from christmas i have changed to bass clarinet, because the tuba player leave. So I´m the only low instrument player except from the trombones -.- Kieler83 I started playing clarinet and all kinds of saxophone 21 years ago and since 5 years I´m playing bass clarinet in our orchestra and sometimes bari sax, too. BariMaster Bari Sax player over here. I just want to say, I have been through a crazy and passionate journey with my bari sax over the years. And the sad part is, I don't even own one. Which means by a certain time I will have to return my school bari sax to the corporation. It will be a depressing day. MonkeyDigger I think you can guess what instrument I play... Big Johnny Bassoon, nice! Same here. ZeDoctor Bass Clarinet. Mainly Bass Clarinet. :D Bassitonor I play bassoon and contrabassoon. Oleksandr Kashlyuk2 I absolutely love the bassoon and the contra, although the contra that I play now is broken. KeldeoJustified Main low woodwind I play is Bass Oboe :p It is an octave below the regular oboe :3 ray8am clarinet does a clarinet count as a low woodwind. it can play both high and low :) mike320 I mostly played Bari Sax in school, but switched to tuba my senior year. angryducks When I was still in School, I played Bass Clarinet and Bari Sax for Jazz Band.
