The DYDD Opera Overture Contest

Evey opera should have an overture, in this case a medley of the winning tunes from the opera. Someone suggested, I believe, that it should be like the Mary Poppins Overture. Peter suggested that each winner write a bit of their winning work as part of the overture.
Here are my suggestions.

1. Use the musescore full orchestra template to make it easier to tie each song together.
2. write 4 to a max of 8 bars of your winning composition with this template. Shorter is better because of the number of songs in the opera. It would not do to have the overture as long as the complete opera.
3. if you have won for multiple songs, just put them together sequentially but label each winning song with its song number, title, and your name.
4. If another winner has already posted their snippet, use their template to add on your own in its numerical sequence in the opera and then post it to the group for someone else to add on their own fragment.
5. if, for any reason, a winner doesn't want to (or can't) be part of helping put together the overture, they should let us know so that an alternative member of the group can contribute. No?
That way, we can build a 'quilt' of musical themes or fragments of each of the winning songs.

We can then vote as a group on who did the best arrangement of their own works in the overture.
If you have your own suggestions, additions, changes on how to do this, please feel free to comment at this discussion. thank you, music lovers.

Making a better soundfile

Hello all! I just recently came across this opera in the works, and I thought that the musescore soundfont just won't bring your guys's music to the heights I believe it could (and should )reach. If you guys are so inclined I could help with that. As you guys finish each piece in your opera (That meaning the piece is 100% done and has all the choir/soloist's parts included) I could use sibelius/noteperformer and make it sound much more realistic. Sadly, you won't be able to hear what words the singers are singing, but the singing will sound at least decent and like an actual human voice. Anyways, if you accept my offer; please let me know!

The Time Has Come for Some Operatic Judging!!!!

The time has come the dingle dork said
And, if everyone agrees,
To take a look at all the songs we have
And decide who’ll judge entries.

Since it looks like no further entries are going to be made, we need to find winners for 10 different songs. For instance, song 3 “Lament of the Audobon” has 4 entries so we need a judge to pick one of the 4. Song 8, “the confrontation” has 3 entries so a judge will need to pick one of the 3. Refer to the list of song entries reprinted below. It would not be right to judge a contest in which you already have a song entered so here is the plan:

If the following members are willing, then here are the judges for each song
Judge: song group:
Peter Kilisch 3
Creammonster 4
SpartanQueenoftheMark 5
FretfulBanjo 7
Maciej Maślak 8
Rivergrove 9
The FretfulBanjo 10
SpartanQueenoftheMark 12
Chinadoll 14
Richard G. Perrit 15

Please, would each of the above indicated judges let us know here if you agree/don’t agree to do the judging.
Thanks.

General topics

First, stating the obvious, school work comes first and last. The opera is just for fun free time. Yeah, ma.
Second, nothing in the storyline or music is written in stone so to speak. Any details can be changed except for the obvious, we cant change the name of the DYDD...

Here's the song list and contest rules... Start composing

I have spent some time working on this project and I sense that we need a clear path to follow to accomplish this project. So I propose the following:

There are some songs that need to be written (I hope I have this right)

1) DYDD Overature
2) The Quest of the DYDD - Solo about searching for love (DYDD theme)
3) The Lament of the Audobon - About hating birds
4) Big Sally's Plan - A solo on how they will catch and dispath DYDD
5) The Knughts Quest - Their pledge to preserve birds for chasing (KnughtsTheme)
6) The Knughts Find the DYDD - About what to do with the DYDD
7) The Audobon Trap Song - About their plan unfolding
8) The Confrontation - The Audobon and the Knughts taunting each other
9) Gomez's Lament - The story of how he was once a Knught
10) The FYDD Lament - About her search for true love
11) Victory for the Audobon - About their capture of the FDYDD and the Knughts
12) DYDD Proud- A Solo - an aria about finding his mate
13) Traitor Turned True - About Gomez's conversion back to a loyal Knught
14) Loves is Yellow - The duet odf love between the DYDD pair
15) We are Family - finale sung by the DYDD family

(Note: I am not sure which ones are theme songs)

We should start a discussion with the title of each song. Members may then write songs, or poems or songs requiring lyrics and post them or links to them in that discussion. Every month we hold a contest highlighting the two discussions with the most activity. We give everyone an opportunity to work on one or both of the songs then as a group we vote. (You may not vote for yourself) The winner is the song used in the opera and the member then has the credit! (Everyone can enter, including chinadoll)

After all the songs are written then we do the theme in the same manner.

Everyone can enter, everyone gets to vote even if they did not enter.

Allowing for 6 weeks between votes gives us 42 weeks allow another 6 weeks for the theme and maybe a 8 weeks of assembly we would be looking at 56 weeks, approximately 13 months from now.

I feel it is also important to build membership since this is a large project and we needs lots of help and contributions. When you write songs put a comment in that this is entered in the DYDD Opera group contest and post a link to the group.

PLEASE VOTE ON THIS DISCUSSION AS Yes or No or Other(Submit details)
Of course I am just a member, and chinadoll has the final decision on this plan

Vote: how does the DYDD freeze the Secret Audobon?

Do you have an original idea on the magical power the male DYDD has to freeze the Secret Audobon members in their tracks? For me, this is sort of an interesting allusion to "The Magic Flute" where the bad guys are incapacitated by the magic flute. In this opera, one suggestion is that the DYDD has a magical loud CAW! that freezes his enemies. Another suggestion is that his feathers are magical and by tickling, he freezes them in a paroxysm of laughter. Do you have another amusing idea that we can vote on?
So cast your vote or submit your new idea for freezing by:
***
1. Cawing! (including singing a caw) XXX
2. feather tickling X
3. sneezing XX
4. ???

Thanks!

Contest: Lamentation of the Secret Audobon song in Act I

Maybe this can be the first actual song contest?
Write music and lyrics for the "Lamentation of the Secret Audobon"
Have fun.

for composing the music and lyrics, here are some background notes to use only as a guide, nothing is written in stone:

Members of the Secret Audobon:
Stinky the weasal (bassoon)
MargRat the rat (sax)
Big Sally the squirrel (clarinet)
Gomez (oboe) the chihauhua who is pushing Big Sally in her chair of honor, an old wheelchair (In the storyline, Gomez had once tried to become a Knught but was made fun of and so he left. According to the story, he will trade sides later in the opera.)

The Secret Audobon sing a song lamenting the fact that birds exist in the world.
Now, for my part, I was thinking of the song “Kids, what’s the matter with kids today” from Bye Bye Birdie and wrote the following lyrics that you can use or not use, your choice. At least, maybe these lyrics have some ideas.

Birds, who needs them
They’re absurd
Singing singing
Always singing

Morning, noon
Nite time whooing
Callng yoo-hoo
Drives us cuckoo

Birds, who needs them
They’re absurd
Pecking, pecking
Always pecking

Always chirping
Always eating
Scraps and bugs,
Frogs and worms

Leaving nothing
Nothing for me

Birds, who needs them
They’re absurd
Flying flying
Always flying

Can not catch them
Leaves us crying
Eradicate!
Exterminate!

They stink! we hate!
Extinctionate!
Birds, who needs them
They’re absurd

lyrics that might be used. if you have some, post it here and someone can put it to music

found these lyrics that might be used for the opera, maybe as the DYD/s big victory song near the end, or could be modified a little.

Maybe you have heard the word
Such a gorgeous extraordinary wonderful bird
Blazing colors and creative mind
More than equal of any Einstein

A language and culture beyond any dreams
The dismal present is not what it seems
Freedom freedom at last we are free
Documented to an unparalleled degree

Once reviled totally degraded
Now heads high our souls paraded
The DYDD at the peak of evolution
And the great gods’ chosen one

From the past a bold new future unfolds
Revealed by the lost Pacificus sea scrolls
Astounding discoveries and deadly omens
Great tales of hunting humans

Your singing so sweet
Your feathers of gold
Like a soft gentle breeze
You float through the sky
DYDD DYDD
You are so beautiful

add your short little funny bits…..

in any spare moment, if you happen to think of anything funny like a little gag, joke, or bit of visual comedy that could be put in the operatic musical, you could jot them down here. these little bits can help make the opera fun and funny, that is to say, funnier. thanks.

The Story So Far

The Magical DYDD Opera

Important themes are the Right to Life, Preservation, Tolerance, Freedom

Songs that are needed are indicated below. Each of the 15 songs is envisioned to be between 1-3 minutes in length.

**************************************************************************************
Please note: the lyrics in this version are just ideas that might be used to inspire some music and lyrics, they are not final in any way manner or form. They are here just to try to make a complete and consistent storyline. Modify them or ignore them as you like. No problem.

Note: Nothing is finalized in this version. This is a very ‘fluid’ storyline right now. Any ideas or suggested changes would be appreciated.
**************************************************************************************

The opening credits are projected on the curtain while the orchestra plays the

There is only one set required for this. A Clearing in a Woodland with trees around the outside. There is a small waterfall and pond at the back of the set.

Act 1: The DYDD, meets the Knughts and the Audobon.

Scene1: It is daytime. But because of the tree canopy the light is a diffuse green. A spotlight falls directly on a patch of grass at the back of the stage.

DYDD Enters stage right.

DYDD sings his theme song (DYDD Song). This song is about his loneliness and search for true love:
Lonely am I (caw caw)
My search has gone awry (caw caw)
All alone in the big wide world
Waddling til my tail has curled

Folks want to extinct me
Silly bird that you see
Am i really so worthless
Or is there somewhere i'll find bliss

Cawing since sunrise (caw caw)
Still no replies (caw caw)
From hills to silent savanas
Think I’ll have some bananas

Then, having sung and snacked, the DYDD Yawns and explains he is so very tired and needs a rest.
“I am so tired (patting his large belly)
I thin I’ll take a rest.”

He stands in the spotlight, closes his eyes and goes to sleep, and is soon snoring lightly, every once in a while cawing and flapping a little like he is dreaming.

Scene 2: The lighting dims a little to show the passage of time.

The members of the Secret Audobon enter stage right.
They consist of Stinky the weasal, MargRat the rat, Big Sally the squirrel, and Gomez the chihauhua who is pushing Big Sally in her chair of honor, an old wheelchair.

They are singing a song lamenting the fact that birds exist in the world. (was thinking of the song “Kids, what’s the matter with kids today” while writing this)

Birds, who needs them
They’re absurd
Singing singing
Always singing
Morning, noon
Nite time whooing
Callng yoo-hoo
Drives us cuckoo
Birds, who needs the,
They’re absurd

Pecking, pecking
Always pecking
Always chirping
Always eating
Scraps and bugs,
Frogs and worms
Leaving nothing
Nothing for,me
Birds, who needs them
They’re absurd

Flying flying
Always flying
Can not catch them
Leaves us crying
Eradicate!
Exterminate!
They stink! we hate!
Extinctionate!,
Birds, who needs the
They’re absurd

They hardly ever get to eat them and they are always giving away their presence. That every bird should be eradicated. They count how many frogs and snakes and bugs they did not get to eat because of some squawking bird. This should be done very comically. (One song, “The Secret Audobon” is needed with lyrics. It might be great if the Audobon members each have their own separate instrumental voice and angry and devious sounding melody.)

Gomez sees the DYDD, giggles with anticipation And jumps up and down, yipping excitedly.

The Secret Audobon members trip all over themselves, ending up in a tangled jumble while staring intently at the DYDD. They ask each other what it is and exclaim it is a new animal in the forest.

Big Sally peers at the DYDD and exclaims it is a Dingle Dork, the loudest and rarest of birds in the world. She wails at the fact that a Dingle Dork has taken up residence in the forest and that soon they will all go hungry.

Blazing biscuits!
It’s a dingle dork
A yellow downy dingle dork
Latin name
(What?)
It’s got fleas (eew)
It’s got ticks(no!)
It’s got worms (oh!)
It’s big so it eats
And eats and eats (horrors!)
And it stinks (uh!)
(Is it dangerous?)
It’s the rarest of birds (yes!)
And the loudest! (Ow, hands over ears)
It’s a menace! So beware
It must be made…..
(Extinxt extinct extinct?)
Extinct!

Gomez then jumps up and down, yapping that they must catch it.
Big Sally cuffs Gomez and says “fool, I have a better idea... let's catch it”

How? How? How? ask the other Secret Audobon, one after the other.

Gomez jumps up and down and yaps. “Traps! We will trap it!”
Big Sally cuffs Gomez and says... “Nonsense! I have a better plan... we will trap it”

The other Secret Audobon members laugh with glee at the great plan. They slap each other on the back.

Big Sally sings her short solo (the “Big Sally Aria”) (was thinking of Carment while writing this)

A plan we will hatch
To catch this bird
You have my word
Then we’ll be cure

We’ll dispatch this monster
With such cunning
In so clever a trap
It will leave us humming

Destroy the bird
We all agree
It must be done
To set us free

Catch this menace
It can be done
In such a way
That we’ll have won

“Let us return to our cave and get some traps.” says Big Sally.
The Secret Audobon cackle and rub their hands, paws, together and exit stage right.

Scene3: The lighting dims a little more to show the passage of time.

The Knughts enter stage left. They are a dog named Bengie, a Dog named Lady, and a cat named Felina. They are marching and singing their theme song “The Knoble Knughts” about how they came together, why Knughts are better than knights, their motto (Volare durum, ridere ineptias, meaning fly hard, laugh silly) and how the are sworn to protect birds, since birds are great to chase and stalk and bark at. And without birds there would be nothing to do in the world. These folks each have their own instrument with melodies highlighting happy and silly but lovable personalities.

how they came together,

We three bird lovers
Met in the woods
To protect our feathered friends
We gave our pledge
A powerful pledge
That soars like a bird
A pledge that is bold
And is true and is new
for we are
K for Kind, n for nice, u and g for
Unsually good and h for
Happy, t for true
And s for strong
We are k-n-u-g-h-t-s which is
Better than knights
we are knughts
(not knights
In tights)

Nuts! (One cries upon seeing the dydd)
No, knewts
We’re named after themfamous king, cnute the great
(He was a great dane, a great great dane)
We are the loyal order of canutes
(Oh, but…..)
No but, Knewt!

We love birds
They are fun to watch
They are fun to chase
And fun to stalk
(But…)
So we bark and we bark
Because without birds
There would be nothing to do
Except chase our tails
from morning,to night

So we are k-n-u-g-h-t-s which is
Better than knights
we are knughts
(not knights
In tights)
(But…)

we are knughts
(Nuts)
No, knewts
(not knights
In tights)
Nuts! (All say)

They stop in awe as they spot the DYDD, who has awakened due to all their marching about and is calmly eating more bananas.

“What is it?” asks Felina.

Lady and Bengie shake their heads as they don't know. In a short “Knughts’ Face Planting song” song,
Together they decide it must be a bird.
Benjie says they should bark at it and chase it,
Felina says they should stalk it.

Look, in the clearing
It’s a bird
It is plain
It’s a
dingle dork
A dingle dork
A yellow downy banana loving dingle dork
A dingle dork

We should bark
We should stalk
We should chase
(Stop chasing your tail)
It’s a dingle dork
A yellow downy eve loving banana loving yellow dingle dork

It needs our protection
We should bark
We should stalk
We should chase
We should catch it
It’s a dingle dork
A yellow downy banana loving dingle dork
We should catch it
We should catch it
We should catch it
We will try
We will try
Now!

Lady says it is obvious it needs protection and since they are Knughts, they should protect it. They try to catch the DYDD, falling all over themselves and slipping on banana peels while the DYDD chuckles and walks off.

Hopelessly flustered, the Knughts then decide to head back to the Knughts castle to get the advice from their leader as to what they should do and for a little ox tail soup, since it is getting close to dinner time, while they figure out what to do.

The Knughts exit stage left, dancing to music from the Knughts’ Waltz.

End of Act 1

Act 2: The Confrontation

Scene 1: The lighting is mostly blue to depict nighttime. The curtain rises and the DYDD is still asleep, snoring lightly, in the spotlight.

The Secret Audobon enter stage right carrying an absurdly elaborate trap which they start to set up in the clearing. They sing their Trap Song.

Quiet very quiet
Oh so quietly we creep
We’re going to catch a dingle dork
In our tricky slicky lunaticy doohickey clever little trap
It’s so sticky rube goldberg icky (one of them says to the scorn of big sally)

Quiet very quiet
Oh so quietly we creep
We’re going to trap that dirty dingle dork
In our clever trap

Just as they are finishing, the Knughts enter stage left
The Knughts stop and see the trap, they decide to confront the Secret Audobon.

The Knughts and the Secret Audobon sing their fight song with one singing one verse and the other singing the next. In this song, the Knughts sing on one side and the Secret Audobon sing on the other side their competing themes and aims. (This would be a song incorporating both the Audobon and Knught themes and lyrics, “The Audobon/Knughts Medley”). The song ends with both groups expressing frustration at not being able to capture it and at the end, we again hear the DYDD’s cawing laugh as the curtain closes (and maybe a snippet of the DYDD theme). The Secret Audobon claim it is their right to eradicate all bird life, the Knughts claim they must protect all birds for that is their quest. As they sing, they start to talk about how they will stop the other group from doing their duty and how they will win their way. They plan to capture the DYDD in order to protect it.

Gomez yips, jumps up and down and nips Lady's tail.
The fight is on.
They chase each other around the clearing, with lots of barks and yowls and squeals and howls, creating a dreadful noise which wakes up the DYDD. Hearing and seeing this he quietly waddles off stage, cawing quietly in laughter. (Exit rear left)

The Secret Audobon and the Knughts finally form two sides, glaring at each other.

Lady sings her about how all dogs will dedicate their lives to the eradication of weasels,

Felina joins in by sings her about how all cats will dedicate their lives to the eradication of rats, and sometimes mice... if they are hungry.

Stinky joins in singing about rats to steal birds eggs and eat them.

MargRat adds in about how weasels will kill any bird on sight, especially chickens... when they are hungry.

Calling each other names they exit (Knughts stage left) (Secret Audobon stage right)

Scene 2: The lighting is the same.

Enter the DYDD stage right rear. He stands in the spotlight and as he starts to sing his song, he moves forward to center stage.

He Sings a solo (The Lonely DYDD) which is a variation of his original theme about how alone he is, and how he has quested for a mate for so long. The deserts he has walked through, the mountains he has climbed, the seas he has swum. (Note DYDD's cannot fly, sort of, actually he can fly but poorly, usually ending up upside down backwards and landing on his beak). His squaks are part of the lyrics.

Suddenly a loud high pitched squawk occurs off stage right. DYDD stops and listens
The squawk repeats.

The DYDD jumps up and down and performs the same squawk but lower and runs off stage right.

Scene 2: The lights go down and blue lights come on as night falls ( The spotlight goes out)

Big Sally and Gomez enter stage left. Gomez is dragging a large trap. Sally is walking behind with two canes and occasionally prods Gomez to hurry up.

Gomez sings his aria (Gomez Aria) about how he was once wanted to be a Knught but they all laughed at him because he was too small. Even the birds were not afraid of him. So he ran away. Lucky for him Big Sally took him in and gave him food and a corner at the back of the cave to call his own.

He whimpers as Sally points to a place by a rock, as to where to set the trap. Gomez complies.

They both exit stage left.

Scene 3: The lighting remains the same

Enter stage right a female DYDD. Quietly squawking, looking behind trees and bushes.

“I could swear I heard another DYDD” she says. “I wonder where it could be.”

She sings her aria (The Female DYDD Aria) about her home, the lost land of Pacificus where DYDDs once were abundant and ruled and how she has always waited for the prince of her dreams, another DYDD to walk up and sweep her off her feet. About the passion she feels building inside her and the desires that she has to snuggle a male DYDD.

She walks around the stage while she is singing and as she finishes she steps into the trap. She lets out a magnificent loud squawk.

The curtain falls

Intermission.

Act 3: Saved by the traitor

Scene1: It is morning, the lights come up and a rooster crows off stage left.

The DYDD enters stage right. He sees the female DYDD and rushes over to her. He tries to release her but cannot figure out the trap.

The Two DYDD sing a duet (The DYDD Duet) the male sings about how his dreams have come true only to be dashed to the ground, the female sings of the legend of Pacificus and the great magical DYDD who could freeze enemies in their tracks with his magic squawk, hoping this would cheer up her new friend. The song ends with them kissing, embracing and comically wiggling their tail feathers. The lights go dark.

Scene 2: The lighting is very bright now.

The Secret Audobon and the Knughts enter the clearing at the same time, (Knughts stage left, Secret Audobon stage right) The Secret Audobon are carrying a large net.

The Knughts see the trapped female and hurry over to free her. They have turned their backs to the Secret Audobon.

Upon seeing this, Sally motions he crew to capture the knughts in the net. Which they do. Now the Female is trapped, The male is held by his love for her and the Knughts are captured.

TheSecret Audobon sing a Victory Song and dance about their victory over the knights and the capture of the female DYDD.

The Female DYDD calls to the DYDD to try and freeze them in their tracks.

The DYDD lets out a squawk...Nothing, no one even notices.
He tries again but louder. This time they notice and start snarling and circling the pair. Gomez yips.

Just as they are about to be grabbed the DYDD lets out a glorious squawk and the Audobon comically freeze in their tracks, and fall down, all except Big Sally who just slumps in her chair. The DYDD sings his aria (The DYDD Proud Aria) about how he has found his love named Dallie, the greatness of his past, and his special gift of squawk.

Maybe you’ve heard the word
Such a gorgeous wonderful bird
Blazing colors and creative mind
More than equal of any Einstein

The greatest squawk of any dreams
The dismal present is not what it seems
Freedom freedom at last I’m free
With one squawk, I can freeze

now a bold new future unfolds
Revealed by the lost Pacificus scrolls
Astounding discoveries and deadly omens
And great tales of hunting humans

I found my love, my Dallie
Your feathers of gold by golly
Like a soft gentle breeze
You float through the sky

Dallie, Dallie, my sweet Dallie
Caw, you are so beautiful

Meanwhile, Gomez is still snarling, jumping up and down, and yapping. He gets closer to the female. He is immune to the freeze call since he was once a Knught.

The Knughts, though trapped, call on Gomez to do the right thing. They are sorry they laughed at him and apologize. They sing the introduction to Felina’s Plea to Gomez. Then, Felina picks up the sings to Gomez (Felina to Gomez Plea) about how she will spoil and take care of him if he only will do the right thing.

Gomez walks over to the female DYDD and the Knughts turn away, it would be too gruesome to watch. The DYDD keeps squawking trying to freeze Gomez, but it doesn't work. Gomez is confused and doesn't know what to do... The tension builds...

He finally decides and lets the Female DYDD loose. Then goes and frees the other Knughts. Then lets out a proud defiant woof at Sally, no longer the little whiner that he was. He does a funny dance and sings a song (Gomez Aria) about how he is so doggone happy not to be treated like a mutt.

I'm not squirrelly not so measly
Nor am i ratty or even weaselly
No longer a sad-eyed mutt
In the doghouse in a rut

A pup with Ticks and fleas
Feeling sick all weak knees
I’m just so doggone doggone glad
I’m so doggone happy I'm a dog
(It was ruff ruff ruff)

No little Mongrel on a lease
As curdy as a quiche
No dog-eared Worthless cur
Always saying madam sir

The end of dog day afternoon
Forlornly howling at the moon
I’m just so doggone doggone glad
I’m so doggone happy I'm a dog
(Howls happily)

Scene 3: The Finale: The lighting remains the same.

The Knughts lift Gomez on their shoulder and carry him off stage left, singing a triumphant marching song. (Very brief and fades quickly)

The DYDD and His mate step forward to center stage.
They sing their love to each other (The DYDD Love Song) and how they will never part and how the DYDD will protect the female forever and how the Female is so grateful the male DYDD can snuggle her any time he feels the urge to snuggle. Meanwhile, she has a surprise for the DYDD and as she sings, four little DYDDs come on stage dancing to her music.

The song ends with all the DYDDs walking (waddling) off stage left, slowly, together wing in wing.

Sally and her crew wake up. Sally looks around her and screams. “Take me back to the cave, you morons, you imbeciles.” She cuffs them all until they are pushing her back to the cave. She still is yelling at them and calling them names.
Since an opera only ends when the “fat lady sings”, Have a very pregnant female dingle dork sing the grand finale (it is true that they DYDDs were never officially married but these are birds after all). She sings about how great it iso be a DYDD which then prompts the others to declare, al la Sparticus. I am a DYDD. One of the Secret Audobon also tries to say “I am..” before Big Sally can clamp a paw over his face.
Then we have the rousing finale which I envision as sounding a bit like “We are Family” except that the words are “ We are the DYDDs, one, two, three four, five six seven eight (counting off the DYDDs and other characters)

We are the DYDDs
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Who do we appreciate?
Uh huh uh huh
We are the DYDDs
Woo oo woo oo woo oo woo (wailing like ingelbird humperdink)
Who do we appreciate?

The Secret Audobon members keep trying to join in the song and finally Big Sally relents and shrugs and they all join in singing.

The curtain falls.

THE END.

To the raucous cheers (or is it jeers?) from the audience, the curtain rises. The Secret Audobon troop in from stage right and each bow in turn, with Gomez being the last. The Knughts troop in from stage left and bow in turn. The female DYDD enters with the baby DYDDs and they all bow. The DYDD enters front and center and bows. The entire troupe bows. The curtain drops.
