THE MUSIC IS FINALLY DONE! Just a bit more cleaning of the score and it'll be set for publishing!
Hey everyone! Many of you guys just started following me, so you probably weren't there in the beginning of my composing career, but for those of you who have been following me since then, you'll recognize this piece, somewhat lol. I had some great experiences with my high school band as we traveled around Italy playing Frank Ticheli's music. He even conducted us for some of his pieces on his concert. And ever since then, I've been drawn to wanting to compose myself.
This piece was my first ever finished concert band composition of my career. Originally, it was called "The Cruise Line Suite" But I decided to revamp this piece today because this still is a big part of my heart. Afterall, this was the song that jump-started my reptutation on Musescore. The original piece you can hear here https://soundcloud.com/joshua-a-i/the-cruise-line-suite-band?in=joshua-a-i/sets/concert-band-music-1. I hope you enjoy!

Please enjoy my revamped original piece, The Cruise Line Dream!

Describes the utopic journey of a photon through the different layers of the sun, starting from the center.

In the sun's core, The core is dense, but still ions of hydrogen and helium collide with each other.

Nuclear fusion. After a long time, there is enough space for two hydrogen ions to collide with enough energy to merge into an atom of helium and a large amount of energy packaged in photons. Thus initiating the epic voyage of the photon through the sun.

Escape from the sun's core. The photon tries to escape but collides with so many particles that this can take a long time.

The Radiative Zone, this zone is less dense than the core and it envelops it. The photon moves in an undulating path and continues to collide by losing energy over time.

The Dance in the convection zone. The photon is expelled to the outside, but the force of gravity of the center draws it back inward, causing a circular flow, in a dance of turns, which is squeezed with so much force that evades the force of attraction.

Sunspot: Sometimes the photon finds in its path a sunspot where the force of attraction is very strong, attracting the photon to a dense and chaotic zone, until it is expelled to the outside of the sun, achieving its escape.

2nd mov. Symphony of Celestial Spheres

In the darkness of the night, thousands of celestial spheres are contemplated. The view is lost through them in a fabulous journey.

En la oscuridad de la noche, se contemplan miles de esferas celestiales. La vista se pierde a través de ellas en un viaje fabuloso.

SORRY! It for some reason wouldn't play after re-editing a small adjustment so I had to repost this.

Hello, this is a complete Musescore version of the new concert band pieces, Hyper! It's far from being completely ready for publishing as I purposely left out some cleaning to showcase this here on the Musescore forums. I've had an awesome time composing this one and this type of concert band genre is usually out of my element. But I hope you enjoy what Ihave to offer!

Hey guys. So I got a part-time job at Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament while I'm looking for my full-time teaching job. I work as a trumpeter in the show, which is freaking awesome. But we still have other things to do other than show playing.
One of which is pre-show duets. Some of the duets we have in our binder is too boring, the other trumpet players also hate them. So I've been working on arranging some cooler music for trumpet duets. This is my first one so far. I think it came out pretty well and it still suits the feel of the 2nd movement of this organ sonata. I hope you'll like it!

Hello Musescore-

For the past year or so, I've been composing a symphony. I wanted to get something off my chest, and the only way to do so was by writing down my thoughts through music. This is the most personal piece I have worked on, and for the past year I have been sitting on the first movement and debating on whether or not I should upload it. In the end I decided I will. .

The other 4 movements have been sketched out completely and are being worked. I will upload them as I finish.

This score does have minor errors that will be corrected when I finish the other movements. I realize that it is very challenging and difficult. I'm going to have professional musicians of my surrounding area go through each individual part and make sure it's playable. I just wanted to share this.

Thanks for reading, please enjoy my music.

Tama a Tane (MSCC 13)

So for the 13th challenge, we had to write a song from a country in Oceania. And 'cause I live in NZ technically anything I write is New Zealand (and thus Oceanian) music ;)

But I decided to write a traditional Maori song. It only uses two chords - D and F. It may seem a little weird, so here's some Maori Pronunciation (the lyrics are below)

A - 'aa' sound as in car
E - 'eh' as in egg
I - 'ee' as in sheep
O - 'or' and in short
U - 'oo' as in hoop

The english translation is also a little weird... and the maori is google Translate Maori ^^; so good luck XD

Te Ranga wai, rere i roto i te,
Huarahi o toku nga kau
tango e koe i toku ringa
a tangohia ahau teitei

mataara tatou tupuna i tawhiti i te whetu i runga
a hoatu tatou ratou tau o te matauranga
tatou o te whenua, tamariki a Rangi e
whiriwhiria e Tane, tama a Tane

tango e koe i toku ringa
a tangohia ahau teitei
tango e koe i toku ringa
a tangohia ahau teitei

Te Ranga wai, rere i roto i te,
Huarahi o toku nga kau

Inspirational water
Flows through
The pathways of my heart
You take my hand and take me higher

Ancestors watch us from afar
From the stars above
And give us their years of knowledge
We of the land, Children of Rangi and
Chosen by Tane; Tane’s Sons

You take my hand and take me higher
You take my hand and take me higher

Inspirational water
Flows through
The pathways of my heart

Rangi is the 'god of the sky' in maori mythology and Tane is the creator of mankind (he is also the god of trees).

Enjoy!

So for Round 12 of the Musescore Composition Competition, we had to write a piece inspired by a landmark around the world... I had no idea what to do... so I typed 'ancient egyptian music' into Youtube and suddenly was inspired to do this.

Enjoy!

I plan to write more music soon after such a long break :/

The Book of Knowledge

Once upon a time there was a world,
And on this world, there was a nation,
And with this nation, was a city so grand, it shone like a thousand suns.

In this city, there was a library, carved from a single massive oak,
And in this library, was the Book of Knowledge.

It is sought after by many fools, or wise men who were greedy.

But to get into the library, you must have a true heart, and a pure soul... and that's pretty hard to come by in this world.

This music is the tale of Baruk, a Dwarf from the East. About as foolish as a fool can get, he is sneaking in to try and find the book of knowledge. But not for the same reason as some others. Baruk is searching for the book to find a cure for his brother, who is sick with a forgotten sickness.

This music is Baruk sneaking into the library. With his pure intentions, he MIGHT just find what he is looking for.

MSCC Round 8! Enjoy!

So for the Musescore Composition Competition, our challenge Number 5 was to collab a piece with two to three other competitors. I was in a group with Keldeojustified and Testpilot.

Keldeo came up with the themes for the piece - and always had more idea to add to it.

I did the backing and some of the harmonising.

Testpilot looked at what we did, then switched some instruments around and gave it a little variety.

So all in all, I'm really glad I was in this group :)

In case you haven't guessed, we were given a 'Water' theme for our piece. To me, it sounds like an ocean. Calm waters, Storm, more storm, and the ocean in all its grandeur.

Enjoy!

If you like this piece, please consider following Keldeo and testpilot. Both of them are amazing composers!
