Could we get an additional option added to the 3 dots at the right of song file names, to allow updating of songs already downloaded to Songbook?
Currently when a score has been updated, users have to go to the SongBook tab and delete a score before they can return to the Discover tab and Download it.
If the existing score is not deleted first, the only option visible from the 3 dots in Discover is Share. The "Downloaded" menu item does nothing.
I propose changing this to "Downloaded (Update?)" and activating it to allow overwriting of the existing file with the one from the MuseScore server.
It is sometime away, but I've been curious for a while:
To better-represent/preserve the saved state of a score, should the app have the latest engine of each major version?
There might be differences between minor ones, but including all would increase the size, so having only major could be a good compromise.
If I understand correctly, 1 scores will not be openable in 3. So what will happen? Automatic internal conversion to 2-3? Refusal to open? Perhaps the idea is encouraging people to keep content fresh (i.e. revisiting scores)?
Hi. sorry I am not very god in English , but I will try my best.
Well I have mac I think 10.5 and I do use MuseScore 1, Troubele it is this software it is same time surprising in no good way. I did try to upgrade system but it needs new version of mac more when is osx 10.5. That makes me not happy because I do love my old mac and musescore too.
Please are options how to run new version musescore on my old mac?
Thanks for same idea
If you update a score in Musescore online, refresh 'My Scores' in the app and then try to download the score for use offline then the app tells you that the score is already downloaded and refuses to update the score in the Songbook list.
If you delete the offline score in the Songbook list before attempting this process then the updated score will show up in the list.
I think that this bug only appeared recently, perhaps as a consequence of fixing the bug I reported earlier about not being able to loop a measure that included a repeat in it.
If you have a tune with a structure like AABB, for example see my (Bufflehead) score for Michael Turner's Waltz, then you can set loops anywhere in the A section and they work fine, but when you try to set a loop in the B section it only seems to be possible to loop a single measure.
If you select, for example, the first measure of the B section as the start of a loop and then select the fourth measure as the end of the loop, the loop start gets automagically reset to the third measure.
The same problem also exists on the latest Android version of Songbook.
I love the new version of the iOS Songbook, and I use it a lot more now that it plays 2.0 scores. Thanks a lot for the good work!
I have noticed that my scores sound quite different in the app than they do in the desktop version or even online. Maybe I have special ways to write but I think there is some potential for improvement here. What I do is I write up choir scores (4 parts or more) and set the instrument to piano because that way they sound best to me (in the desktop and online versions anyway). In the app, the sound comes out
- dull and
- low volume;
this restricts usability to quiet locations (can't use it on the train or public place). It becomes even more clear when you switch on the metronome. The metronome is a lot louder than the score.
I have an example online at https://musescore.com/mwessel/ubi-caritas
I really don't want to change the dynamics in the sheet (p, pp, mf) because they work perfectly for desktop and export. Is there anything I can do to improve the sound for my scores? Or can you improve the app sound?
Thanks a lot in advance
I had previously gotten the app and it was free, recently I needed some storage space so I deleted the app (not really the best idea, it's not the biggest app in the world...). However, when I attempted to redownload the app from iTunes, it no longer showed up as purchased. Normally if you "purchase" a free app and it gains a price tag it still registered as a purchased app.
Do I no longer have the ability to get the app for free anymore? It was a wonderful app and I'm just a little disappointed that I may have to pay for it now.
I love musescore to create rehearsal files for my choir work. I found saxophone (here: bass ine in bariton sax) the best instrument. As this is a transposed instrument, I need to turn on concert pitch to make it look like what it sounds like. In OSX all works fine when I use concert pitch. But when I load the files in songbook, it plays well but renders the notes a strange offset way higher, see my screenshots at https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3UKJV04-x2qNGhheGstaE5PbnM
Can you make it look alike?
Love your work, please go on!
Hi, I've just downloaded musescore, and had a bit of a play with it. To what I can see, it's positioning itself not just to display scores, but to be an aid for practice. I think in this aspect, what is lacking is the ability to mark scores. I know when I am practicing, I always have a pencil with me to mark things that I have to watch out for.
Even if these were just stored locally, it would be a great addition to the app. Already, I think I'm going to enjoy using this app, but this would make it even better.
Is anyone else having a problem with newly downloaded scores being set to 10% tempo? This seems to happen regularly with scores I create, then upload to Musescore.com. When I then use Songbook to download the score and try to play it, it seems not to play. But in fact, the tempo setting has been set to 10%, and it's just playing very slowly
When I import music to MuseScore on the Mac, I must change to concert pitch in order to play along with the lead part. Then when I save it on-line, the website displays the music correctly. However, when I look at the song on my iPad, the key signature is correct for concert pitch but the notes are the ones associated with non-concert pitch, so they are played completely wrong. Is this a bug and, if so, will it be fixed?
When Songbook for iOS is done playing a score, it automatically rewinds to the start of the score.
Is there a way to stop this auto-rewind behavior? If I'm listening to a section at the end of a long piece, every time it ends, I have to swipe a dozen or more times to get back to the end if I want to hear it again where I was, near the end.
It would be much faster if we had a horizontal scroll bar, to move quickly back and forth through larger pieces.
If you search for songs by my name, you will get only 5 songs although I've uploaded more than that.
If you do a search on thebigbadwolf, for example, you get many more songs than 5 as a result. This is so, even when the user does not have a Pro account.
Are the number of songs displayed limited by the type of account held by the uploading name?
I am going to be purchasing a new iPad Pro when they are available, and will be wanting to transfer all the mscz files in the Songbook app in my current iPad to the new iPad Pro. Will this happen automatically when I sync my new iPad Pro to the data/apps of my old iPad using iTunes back-up/restore, or will I need to implement the transfer in some other way, and if so, what is the most efficient way to do it?
Also, is there some easy/efficient way to transfer mscz files In Songbook from an iPad to/from an Android device (such as a Samsung Galaxy Tablet)?
I am currently renew the church hymnal.
I have difficulty with the measure of the note. for example the time signature of the song is 4/4 but in the first measure contain only 3 note and the second note is four note and the last measure is one note.
how can i do that? pleae help
I bought Songbook earlier today and tried to see if File Sharing worked in iTunes. Sadly, my new Songbook app does not appear in iTunes at all. MuseScore did appear and Finale's Songbook (now discontinued) also appeared. I "removed" them both using iTunes, and then synced the iPad. Musescore's Songbook still did not appear. MS Songbook does not show in the Apps window of iTunes and it does not show in the File Sharing window. It does appear as an icon in the Home Screens window of iTunes, and I can see it clearly on my iPad, where it starts up and works OK.
How can I get the MS Songbook app to be seen by iTunes in the Apps window and - more important for batch file transfer - in the File Sharing window?
