This is a piece that I have been working on for a week. It is surprisingly playable and I dare say that it is the best piece I have produced in a while. This piece is written in 3/4 and features a rather dark and romantic sounding subject which gets more and more decorated and complicated as the piece goes on. Until you reach the climax at the end, when everything is toned down and brought to a still and contemplative resolution.
The structure of the piece can be devided roughly into A1-A2-B1-B2-A3-A-1-Coda
or in short: manipulated ternary form (ABA) aka. A musical sandwhich. The piece is written in D minor with many harmonic excursons from the tonic, and a sweeter B subject in the middle. The melody has a slightly unstable element to it by the oscillating of chromatic notes yet the left hand provides enough guidance to make it sound well without sounding chaotic.
Please, feel free to comment below of what you think of this piece! All comments are appreciated and read by me. :)
Greetings fellow composers,
I've never started a discussion thread before, but figure it's about time I do so. I've just uploaded the first completed draft of my Sonatina for the piano in A minor, and would really appreciate some advice/critique, esp. on the form (sonata form), which, although quite simple, I'm still feeling rather uncomfortable with.
For any composers interested in composing a prelude and fugue in this years composer competition:

Welcome to the first international concerto competition "Debut Berlin Philharmonic"! The competition is divided into five categories – Violin, Cello, Piano, Composition and Conducting. Our goal is to give young talented musicians the chance to have their debut in the legendary Berlin Philharmonic Hall, in collaboration with Berlin Symphony Orchestra. This debut is supposed to draw the attention to the winner of the competition and to boost his or her musical career. The Berlin Philharmonic Hall is one of the most significant concert halls in the world, like Carnegie Hall or Wiener Musikver.
