This is a competition to see who is the best at video game arrangements. You must make an arrangement off of an approved video game song. As long as I know its from a video game, its good, but I need you to tell me what your going to do. Contact info is below. It would be nice if you made a new piece, but I won't stop you from just showing a piece you already made.
I will decide a judging date later on, but it will be at least 4 or so months in the future. If you would like to be a judge or help participate in this, then please contact me. Also, if you have any questions in general, you may contact me.
The best way to contact me is by joining the discord for the competition. The code is . You can also email me. The email is on my musescore account page.
I will create a file where you can tell me what game music your arranging off of and where you can put what you made.
I wish you all luck in this competition!
The deadline is here, and that means the submissions are closed. No more forms may be turned in, unless you are one of the two people who I posted it to the group instead of the form. If you have any questions, email me, send me a message on discord, or ask in the discussion.
The competition deadline is almost here!!! At 12 am CST time, I will close the submission form (Unless you made the mistake in the second paragraph). The results will be posted here January first at 12 am CST time.
I have noticed a lot of people have added their score to the group and have not filled out a submission form. I thought I made this very clear, but it only counts if you fill out an entry form. I'm giving everyone who made this mistake one extra week (which is December 7th at 12 am CST time) to fill out a submission form. This is only because many have made this mistake and I have only now noticed this. Please get this done because after December 7th, their are no exceptions.
I will have announce the top 3 places and how many points they got (out of 100), and I will have a spreadsheet with everyone's place, how many points they got, and comments. There will also be awards too, like best piano arrangement, best orchestra arrangement, etc. These will also come with the results, and will be on the spreadsheet. If you have any questions, send me an email, a message on my discord, or post a comment in the discussion.
We also do need more judges, and you can become one after the deadline. It would be a huge help, and it would make the competition better for everyone. I also plan on doing this competition again in the future, but we can't do it without more judges. If we want this competition to continue after this first one, we will need more or it won't be continued. I really want to make this a big competition, but I need your support. Our current judges are: Me, KeldeoJustified, irishdancer13, and Vinchenzo2K1N.
Sadly, I have not had enough time to complete my own arrangement, so I will not be a competitor. I don't want to extend the deadline as it is A. To close to the deadline and B. An inconvienence to all of you, especially since I have already made one extension. Anyways, I hope everyone else does well and I wish you all luck.
So here is some information about judging.
First off we only have 2 judges, and we need more. Please, if you want, ask to be a judge and I will let you be. We already have 2 woodwind judges, so I would like one judge that plays brass, one percussion, and one piano. But it doesn't matter if you don't play one of these. As long as you can give critiques, I'm fine. You can also judge even if you are also a competitor. What we will do is we just won't have you judge your own, but everyone else's. Just let me know in the comments of this discussion if you want to be one.
I also have the grading criteria I'm going off of. This is what the judges will use to grade you music. Each judge will first listen to the original song, the listen to yours for a reference. Then, each judge will rate each category 1-10, and then the totals will be averaged generate their score. Then each judges score will be averaged for your overall score. The 5 categories are overall sound, technique, individuality, and noticability, and neatness. Overall sound is 40% of the total, and is just as it says. Does it sound good, or not. Technique is 25% of the total. This means things like "did they use certain techniques to make it better" "did they use things like slurs, staccato, repeats, etc." "did they use certain instruments well and make them blend" and "did they use them well". Next, individuality is 20% of the total. Individuality is "did they make this piece different from the original in a creative way or did they basically just copy and paste". You want your piece to be different from the original, and sound good all the same. Noticabily is 10% of the total. The piece has to still be recognizable to the original. If the arrangement doesn't sound like the original, then it's not an arrangement. Finally, neatness is 5% of the total. Just make it look neat. We will also write down critiques at the end so you know what you did well and what you can improve on.
That's all. I will release the submission form in the next couple of days. I've had a lot of stuff between band and school, so I haven't had time. Sorry!
Here is the form to submit your stuff. Please fill out everything.
