Thank you Tonny! Stay tuned for my album release later this year :)
Fantastic! The chords you used were original, something I really need to work on :P The overall effect of the piece was also really cool, and the staccato sixteenth notes in the strings were great. I would've liked a bit more of the melody myself during the louder parts, but that's just me :P Also I don't think the 8va bass clef in the piano was really necessary. But what I really like about this is the way you put all the little pieces together (percussion rhythm, string figures, the 1-&-2-& pizzicato thing, etc.). Keep it up!
Thanks heaps for the feedback! I'm not sure what you mean by the 1-&-2-& pizzicato thing haha. Also, would you be able to tell me if you could imagine a scene or story in you head while listening to this? The track is part of my upcoming album, titled Power of Perspective and my intention is for each viewer to be able to have their own interpretation of the music.
Wow sorry for my absolutely atrocious grammar; that was completely stream of consciousness as I was listening. Also by the pizzicato thing I mean m18-25, the quarter-(eighth)-quarter-(eighth) in the strings and piano.
So it starts out with a landscape, maybe like a rocky plain like Rohan or the like? There's a feelable tension, but you don't know what yet. Then you see all the stuff leading up to a war, like two countries getting pissed and it escalating (all with a nostalgic feel), then it shows a small village (or medium) preparing for the war, contributing to war resources, sending men off, typical home front stuff. Then it cuts to a short clip of people actually fighting but it doesnt last long, then it cuts to the high generals and king doing their grand strategy and stuff, then another short clip of people fighting, and it goes back and forth showing every aspect of war, all interspersed with short interludes of actual fighting. After doing that it zooms out to a really wide view of the landscape with a massive battle going on, its far enough away that you cant hear anything or see individual soldiers (or units or anything) but it just stays really far away and you can see the landscape changing because of the conflict (time lapse maybe?) Then the conflict is over (reason unspecified) and you can see all the damage that was done to the landscape.
That's an incredibly detailed interpretation. Thank you for that! When I release my album next year, hopefully listeners will be able imagine longer and more detailed scenes and stories. Have you heard of Colin Frake on Fire Mountain by TSFH? It's a novel which incorporates music here and there which matches the story, enhancing the reading experience.
Google traduction : I listened to the piece on SoundCloud (https://soundcloud.com/jonathontran). It's excellent! This composition transported me in a medieval time most of the time. I found very interesting the appearance of the piano in this orchestration; it made me immediately transported American science fiction film directed produced by Disney Studios: TRON. You have talent!
I love your interprétation unique. Après tout, c'est-ce que ma musique est tout au sujet.
Hoping Google Translate did the job! ;)
