Poem in E-flat "Lights" (original)

For Solo (instrumental or vocal part)

Uploaded on Jul 22, 2018

Like most of my current pieces, this one's heavily influenced by Scriabin (the 5 against 3 is a telltale sign :D). But also the very colorful harmonies I got inspired to write from impressionism and jazz. And this is currently the only piece I've written that has a deliberate image in mind.
The image I had in mind when writing was the sort of view that you see when driving across a big city with the colorful lights going past the window. Each different wash of harmony you can imagine as a different light going past. While the B sections are the more quiet bits of a city, in between larger areas, where there are fewer lights. The ending is a bit abrupt, but I meant it to be, as the ending is when you finally leave the city and the lights behind. Hope you enjoy! :)
