The Space Continent 2.0 (Section 1)
For Concert Band
Uploaded on May 20, 2018
So this is my fourth real opus ever (I consider finished music that has been or will be performed an opus), and I've really worked my butt off on this. I've spent over a year and a half to get it where it is currently, and I've put aside school work to finish it. If you don't really like it, that's okay. I wasn't expecting it to be a masterpiece by any means. If you do like it, that's great; it really warms my heart to know that people like this work or think it's cool. I see so many people on this website with a background education in music composition and theory, and I look at them and think about how little I know in composing music, mostly since I've never had a class in music theory. All that I've learned about music came about through my experience in band classes playing trombone in L'Anse Creuse Public Schools. I am currently an upperclassman at my high school and I hope to go into a music career, so until I take AP Music Theory, I experiment through this software, which has helped expand my knowledge of music composition. Anyway, I have only performed a full ensamble score once in 8th grade, but now it happens again in the end of November. My high school band will be playing this for the winter concert this December, and I cannot wait! Also, I would like this piece to be critiqued, so if anyone would like to give me a few pointers, feel free to do so!
