Another one. Impressionistic. Also: love Satie's 'yachting', too.
So this is a kind of early morning. Some town by the sea. Yachts, seagulls, blushing sky and other stuff.

Just a miniature. The idea came up, when I was listening Ligeti's 15th etude from his 3rd book (White on White) and Mogwai, apparently :D

The Judgement of Midas

Imitation of Stravinsky' late 1920s Neo-Classical style, which is imitation of Lully's 17th century French style. Work from the period, when I was in love with 'Apollon Musagète'.

Three themes: first - Midas', second - Marsyas', third - Apollo's.

Scenery: myth of musical contest between Apollo (cithare) and Marsyas/Pan (aulos), which was judged by Midas/Muses.
Marsyas constantly practiced in playing on flute and brought the level of his mastery to such perfection, that he dared to call Apollo to the contest. The judge was Midas, who, being close in spirit and tastes to Marsyas, delivered a verdict in his favor. According to another story, they were judged by the Muses, and Marsyas won, but, then, Apollo began to playing cithare and singing, after what Marsyas lost the contest. Then Apollo hung Marsyas on a high pine tree and tore off his skin, Midas was awarded with donkey ears for his verdict. Really nice.
