Heptagon Dance (from Polygon Dances)

Why it's called 'Heptagon Dance:' A heptagon (or a seven-sided polygon) usually looks rather deformed, as this piece is also. Although the pedal is up to interpretation, the rhythms are surrounded by 'block notes' or minor seconds, trying to ferment the much prettier hexagon and octagon by reducing the side. It ends up being rather ugly and malformed, but still a shape.

Very short experiment with a phrase in Hungarian Minor, inverted and transposed down a tone, rinse, repeat and spin. There's a blog post about the relevant inversions, at http://mi.doh.so/2015/04/the-invertible-hungarian-minor.html
